Reid rreid21@cox.net July 22, 2007, 4:05 pm Liberty Weekly Tribune` December 21, 1877 Mr. Editior: Wie gehts? Do you enjoy this summ-like weather? Have you a "Santa Claus" up your way; if so, send him down here with all the nice things he can carry. Holidays are the general topics now. You better take a little recreation, for you look as though you might be consumptive from being confined to your office so closely. I think you ought to feast on turkey, chickens, mackerel and oysters during the Christmas week as they would strengthen your physical constitution. You are therefore cordially invited to visit our town next Tuesday eve since the "Mo. City Cornet Band" intends giving a grand supper, christmas tree and musical entertainment at that time. The table will be supplied with the above mentiond goo eatings, and many other delicacies - all for the small sum of fifty cents. The music alone will be worth the money, so you have the benefit of the supper and Christmas tree free gratis. Bring "Joe and Tom" with you. Last Sunday at eleven, Rev. Shores preached a good temperance sermon at the M.E. Church. In the afternoon there was held a Sunday shcool mass meeting at the Christian Church. Addresses were delivered by Rev. Shores, Messrs. Winfrey, Donaghe, Grubs and Donovan. Great interest was manifested by all present, and we trust as the result of this meeting many will take more active part in this noble cause than formerly. Mr. Gash has returned from Chicago, highly pleased with his trip. Mr. Hayer, formerly a citize of this place, is visiting his many friends. He intends returning to Yankton in a few weeks. I am glad that my good friend Mr. W.E. Wharton succeeded so well with his "man-catcher." I would however suggest that he change the name of his invention and give it the appelation of woman-catcher since he was so furtunate as to catch a woman the first time. Amicus.
