Reid rreid21@cox.net November 25, 2007, 10:48 am The Liberty Tribune June 16, 1871 Judge Holmes has furnished us the following names of soldiers of the war of 1812, now residing in Clay county: John Simms, L. Breckinridge, John Mobry, Maberry Mitchell, Nathan Chaney, Jas. Vermillion, James Poteet, and Andrew R. Means. The latter has 147 living children, grand and great grandhchildren in Clay county. Mrs. Sarah Cameron, widow of Elisha Cameron, who for many years was Judge of our County Court, is still living and in the enjoyment of good health, and receives a pension in consideration of the services of her husband in the war of 1812.
