Wilkerson Cemetery, Lohman, Cole County, Missouri Location: State Route D in Cole County, Missouri, 3.3 miles north of Lohman or 1.1 miles south of the intersection of Highway 50 and Route D, on east side of the highway, on the Jerry and Ray Kauffman farm. The cemetery name came from a United States Geological Survey map. The site was once occupied by an Afro-American church. Condition: The cemetery was in the edge of the woods and had some small trees and brush growing within it. The entire site was covered with a ground cover that had kept out the weeds. Only two stones were found, both obelisks that had fallen from their bases. Twenty-seven depressions could be identified throughout the cemetery, a few with field stone markers. Witnesses say that there should be more stones but they may have been destroyed by the heavy vandalism to the cemetery through the years. Restoration: December 2001 - January, 2002. A barbed wire fence was erected, small trees and brush were removed, the two obelisks were restored to their bases, the depressions were filled and marked with concrete markers. ***** BROWN, Easter B - Dau. of Charles and Parlee; Born Jan 31, 1896; Died Feb 7, 1896 WARREN, William - Born 1831; Died Feb 16, 1894 Cemetery Restorations Russellville, Missouri 573-782-3585 ==================================================================== USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
