The Hannibal Journal, Thursday, February 3, 1848
In Cooper county, on the 1_th inst., after an illness of nine days, in the 
59th year of her age, Mrs. Sarah Mahan, consort of James Mahan.

The deceased had been a pious and devoted member of the Baptist Church, ever 
since the year 1812, and departed this life, leaving to her surviving 
companion and friends the comfortable assurance that she had gone to "The rest 
that remaineth to the people of God."
