Biographical Sketch of Jacob M. Kinsey, Crawford County, Missouri >From "History of Franklin, Jefferson, Washington, Crawford and Gasconade Counties", Biographical Appendix, Goodspeed Publishing Company, 1888. ********************************************************************** Jacob M. Kinsey, a carpenter and house-builder of Cuba, was born in Noble County, Ind., in 1848, and was there educated and reared to maturity. He seemed, when young, to have a natural aptitude for mech- anical industry, and early turned his attention in that direction, his first work of importance being upon a house in his native State, the framework of which he hewed himself from rough timber, not a piece of it being cut by a saw. The weather-boarding and other materials, how- ever, were brought from the sawmill, in the rough, and dressed by him. Since that time he has devoted himself to this occupation with good success. Experience has proven him to be a good draftsman and archi- tect, and since coming to Cuba, in 1880, he has established a substan- tial reputation, and now employs a number of mechanics to assist him. He also has proper and necessary equipments for moving buildings, which he makes a specialty, frequently being called upon from neighbor- ing towns to do such work. Mrs. Kinsey's maiden name was Mariah C. Weller, daughter of Christian and Isabelle Weller, and to them have been born six children: Elmer C., Florence M., Rosa B., Oliver M. and Hulda A. are living; an infant is deceased. Mr. Kinsey is a Republic- an in politics, and a member of the A. O. U. W. Himself and wife are worthy members of the Presbyterian Church. ==================================================================== USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
