My great, great uncle and aunt G. Thomas and Nancy Baker Bailey owned 40 acres between Gerth and Mound Rd. where the Bailey Cemetery lies today. They purchased this land on October 5, 1871. The following is from a newspaper obituary: "Thomas Bailey died at his son's home near Midland, November 1, 1879. He had lived in Crawford County about 31 years. Rev. J. R. Hamlin preached his funeral at the Bailey home. He was buried in the old family burying ground." G. Thomas Bailey was buried in the Bailey Family Cemetery. My aunt Nancy Baker Bailey lived until January 28, 1893, and was buried with her parents in the Baker Family Cemetery in Boone Township, Franklin county. On November 28, 2004 my husband and I traveled to the Bailey Cemetery and we notice that in addition to the Miller Family and Hill child, there were an additional 11 stones layed out in 10 rows. It is possible 5 or more out of the 11 burial stones were for the Bailey family between 1871 and 1890 since this cemetery was on their family farm. G. Thomas and Nancy Baker Bailey lost almost all their children due to illness. The stone markers are very basic and almost covered by the earth indicating they have been there for some time. Bailey family members buried there would be: G. Thomas Bailey, husband of Nancy Baker Bailey b. bet. 1810 - 1818 d. November 1, 1879 Mary C. E. Bailey, daughter of G. Thomas and Nancy Baker Bailey b. 1859 d. aft. 1870 James W.
