Villages of Crawford County, Missouri - HARRISON MILLS The original Harrison Mills post office was established June 26, 1832, and was the oldest one in Northern Crawford County. Benjamin Harrison was the first postmaster; John W. Harman was the second [1851]; Andrew Harrison was the postmaster in 1856. The original post office was on the old Anthony farm, now owned by Henry Merkel. Shortly afterward it was moved to the site of the late Kimberlin Store in Washington County. After it was moved it was called Anthonies Mill in honor of Jonas M. Anthony. The Dry Creek post office was established in the late 1800s. A little store was constructed and the post office was located in the same building. The post office was operated in 1888 by Mr. Arney. Soon after this date the store building was torn down and moved to Elayer; the post office was discontinued. ------ CRAWFORD COUNTY AND CUBA MISSOURI James Ira Breuer, 1972 p. 110 ==================================================================== USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
