Execution in Warren.—The Hannibal Courier publishes the following extract from 
the letter of a friend, dated at Troy, Lincoln County, MO.

“The negro slave, Isaac, who killed his mistress (Mrs. Callahan) by choking her 
with his hands, in Warren County, in the month of May last (1851), was indicted, 
tried and found guilty of murder in the first degree, at the recent term of the 
Warren Circuit Court.  He will be executed on the 13th of November (1851).  His 
defence [sic] was conducted by Judge Hunt and Sideny Wood, Esq, and the 
prosecution by A. W. Lamb, Esq., Circuit Attorney.  He is very young, not more 
than 16, is intelligent and remarkable for his mechanical skill.  He is now 
engaged in making a willow fruit basket for the Circuit Attorney, as a token, as 
he says, of his “distinguished consideration.”


Additional Comments:
This is related to the death row inmate, Isaac (slave) who was executed in Nov 
1851 (some show 14 and some show 13 Nov 1851).  Public Domain, article from 174 
years ago.  The paper was was in Cole County but deathpenaltyusa shows the county 
as Crawford and the title is Execution in Warren
