MO Local Obituaries for the Week updated Jan. 2, 2006 Mary Rosella Evrard Mary Rosella Evrard, nee Cook, was born Monday July 26, 1920 at Cuba, Missouri, a daughter of the late Alford H. and Minnie Rosetta (Garms) Cook. She entered eternal life Friday, December 16, 2005, at the Gibbs Care Center, Steelville, Missouri, at the age of 85 years, 4 months and 20 days. In May 1942, Mary was united in marriage to Emile Buddy Evrard. To this union three sons, Charles, Gary and Clinton were born. They were blessed with over 57 years together until Emile preceded her in death on January 11, 2000. In addition to her parents and Emile, Mary was preceded in death by three brothers Albert Cook, Walter and wife Emma Cook an infant brother Freddie Alford Cook and a sister, Lydia and husband Don Horts. She was also preceded in death by sisters-in-laws Adeline, Elsie and Cecilia and brothers-in-law Norman, Edmond, William and Charles Evrard. Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her three devoted sons, Charles B. Evrard and wife Sheila, Clinton Evrard and wife Lee, all of Tennessee; and Gary L. Evrard of Steelville, Missouri. One brother, Charles and Lottie Cook of Springtown, Texas; one sister, Emma Garner of Lowndes, Missouri; sisters-in-law Bettie Cook of Phoenix, Arizona, Genevieve Evrard of Windsor, Missouri and Mary Evrard of Harrisburg, Illinois. Ten grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Mary Rosella Evrard lay in state 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2005 at the Britton Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Funeral services were 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2005, in the Britton Chapel, Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Matt Cook officiating. Committal prayers and interment were in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Britton Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. James S. Loveless Sr. James S. Loveless Sr. passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2005. Beloved father of Alisha (John) Mize of Arnold, Missouri, Jamie (Torey) Miller of Cherryville, Missouri, Amy Loveless of Crystal City, Missouri and James Loveless Jr. of Barnhart, Missouri. Dear grandfather of Kayla Mize, Jason Loveless, Katelyn Legens, Dallas and Tori Miller. Dear son of Betty and Arvid Berberich and the late James Brice Loveless. Brother of Blaine Johnson, Larry Loveless and Bev (Tony) Pusateri. Stepbrother of Bob (Patty) Berberich and Dennis (Linda) Berberich. Special friend of Donna Stukenbroeker of Arnold, Missouri, uncle, cousin and friend to many. Funeral services were Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at the Kutis South County Chapel, St. Louis, Missouri. Interment was in the Shepherd Hills Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri. Martin Manasco Martin Manasco passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2005. He is survived by his wife, Lucille Manasco, Union, Missouri; two sons, Raymond Manasco and wife Sharon, Jacksonville, Florida and Clinton Manasco and wife Teresa, Gerald, Missouri; two daughters, Phyllis Crabtree and husband Tom, Pacific, Missouri and Sharon Holmes and husband John, Waymouth, Massachusetts. Nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two brothers, Carl Manasco and wife Gerry, St. Louis, Missouri and Ron Manasco, Bridgeton, Missouri; other relatives and many friends. Visitation was Friday, November 25, 2005 from 4-8 p.m. at the Oltmann Funeral Home, Union, Missouri. Funeral services were held Saturday, November 26 at 10 a.m. at the Oltmann Funeral Home, Union, Missouri. Burial was in the Davisville Cemetery, Davisville, Missouri. Curt John Powell Curt John Powell, known as "Chief', was born Monday October 18, 1954, at St. Louis, Missouri, a son of Mable J. Powell, nee Klein, and the late John C. Powell. He entered eternal life Monday December 19, 2005, at his home on Valley Side Road, Cherryville, Missouri, at the age of 51 years, 2 months and 1 day. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Jacob Powell and mother-in-law, Henrietta Parisi. Among those who remain to mourn his passing are his wife, Elizabeth Powell, nee Parisi, of the home; his mother, Mable Powell, nee Klein, of Steelville, Missouri; one son, Zachary Powell, two daughters, Tammy Chumley and Rebecca Powell, all of St. Louis, Missouri. Two stepsons, Donald Brazel of Poplar Bluff, Missouri and Theodore Brazel of St. Louis, Missouri; one stepdaughter, Giovanna Brazel of Steelville, Missouri, and father-in-law, Alfred Patti of St. Louis, Missouri. Also remaining is one brother, Corey Powell of St. Louis, Missouri; grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, brother-in-law, other relatives and many friends. Curt John Powell lay in state after 10 a.m. Thursday, December 22, 2005, at the Britton Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Thursday, December 22, 2005 in the Britton Chapel with Rev. Roger Silvey officiating. Musical selection was provided by Donna Silvey. Committal prayer and interment will be on the family farm in Cherryville, Missouri. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Britton Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Joann Stephens Joann Stephens, nee Bell, of Steelville, Missouri, was born in Gary, Indiana to Frank John Bell and Filomay Madamma Bell on Wednesday, July 14, 1937. She passed away in St. Lukes Hospital, Chesterfield, Missouri on Thursday, December 15, 2005 at the age of 68 years, 5 months, and 1 day. Joann graduated from Evangel College with an Associate Degree in Business. She married Leon Stephens on September 6, 1959 in Gary, Indiana and to this union two children were born. She was previous co-owner of businesses in Steelville, Spare Rib Inn for five years and River Mist Restaurant for four 1/2 years. She was a bookkeeper for the family Construction Co. and for 12 years city clerk/collector of Steelville. Joann was an excellent cook, enjoyed family vacations and always attended the school activities of her children. She was active in her church and even volunteered as church secretary at one time for several years. Joann was a wonderful, loving mother and wife who will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and parents. Those who remain to mourn her passing are her husband Leon Stephens of the home; Mark Stephens and wife Gina of Trophy Club, Texas, and Marsha Stephens of St. Louis, Missouri; grandson, Anthony Stephens. Sister, Grace Marie Blachly of Portage, Indiana. Sisters-in-law, Loretta Veasey of Granite City, Illinois and Barbara Rodgers and husband Ken of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Nephews, Steven Veasey of Chicago, Buddy Bayer and wife Sandra, Kim and husband Steve Berhman all of Austin, Texas, Bobbie and husband Richard Boom of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Michael Blachly of Portage, Indiana, Ernie Essany, and Jason Essany of Chicago, Illinois; cousins and friends. Funeral Services were Sunday, December 18, 2005 at 2 p.m. at First Assembly of God Church, Steelville, Missouri with Pastor Lynn Stroup and Pastor Michael Huff officiating. Burial was at Steelville Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri. All arrangements under the direction of Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville. Missouri.
