MO Local Obituaries for the Week of January 2, 2019 Donald Edward Alexander Donald Edward Alexander of Sullivan, Missouri was born on April 2, 1948 in Sullivan, Missouri to Clarence Edward and Bessie Lee Alexander and passed away on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at the age of 70 years. He grew up and attended school in Sullivan, Missouri. Don also grew up attending Temple Baptist Church in Sullivan, Missouri. As a young man, he joined the United States Army and was a Vietnam Vet. Donald and his first wife, Donna had three daughters, Laura, Robin, and Peggy. Don was later united in marriage to Betty Lou Breitbarth on December 31, 1988, in Illinois. Don worked various jobs, which included, Meramec Shoe Factory and Schatz Underground Cable. Due to health complications, he retired in 1994. He loved babysitting his grandkids and enjoyed fishing and boating. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Bessie Lee (Barber) Alexander; one brother, Ralph Alexander; and one sister, Peggy (Alexander) Wiser. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Betty L. Alexander of Sullivan, Missouri; four daughters, Laura White of Doniphan, Missouri, Robin Hudson and husband Dale of Doniphan, Missouri, Peggy Keyes and husband Leif of New Florence, Missouri and Tonya Tolliver and husband Bill of Sullivan, Missouri; three sons, John Schoonveld and Katie Gorzik of Leasburg, Missouri, David Schoonveld and wife Cathy of Bourbon, Missouri and Evan Paul of Leasburg, Missouri; four sisters, Trisha Madison and husband James of Bourbon, Missouri, Georgina McEuen and partner Becky of Sullivan, Missouri, Sherry Champney of Sullivan, Missouri and Karen Visser and husband Dale of Tuscumbia, Missouri; two brothers, Bill Alexander of Akron, Colorado and Clarence Purcell and wife Bridgett of Dixon, Missouri; numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Durbin was born July 30, 2915 and passed away December 19, 2018 at the age of 67 years. Dwayne was preceded in death by his parents, sister, and wife. Charlotte "Jean" Sanders Charlotte "Jean" Sanders (nee Wilkinson) of Steelville, Missouri was born on Thursday, September 13, 1951 in Steelville, Missouri to Johnny "Tim" Laverne and Rilma Cottrell Wilkinson and passed away Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the age of 67 years, 3 months and 14 days. Jean lived briefly in Illinois with her family before moving back to Steelville, Missouri to attend Steelville High School. On April 8, 1967 Jean and Tom Sanders were the first couple to be married at Straightway Baptist Church in Steelville, Missouri by Melvin Reed. Jean had worked for Brown Shoe in Steelville who sent her to college where she got a degree in accounting. She graduated with a 4.0 and was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society. She later was an accountant clerk in the mental health industry for the State of Missouri for 17 years. She retired January 1, 2014 and since had enjoyed her time at home with her husband. She and Tom were members of Straightway Baptist Church in Steelville. She enjoyed deer hunting and going to deer camp. She loved camping at the Fish Trap, Copperhead Hole and Chester Brown's place. Jean and Tom were involved in getting the diamonds in the baseball field and Thomas was part of getting the Steelville Stars Baseball Team started. She liked going to rodeos. She collected snowmen. She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny "Tim" and Rilma Wilkinson; parents-in-law, Vernon and Agnes Sanders; sister-in-law, Jane (Bob) Richardson; brothers-in-law, Dale Stulce and Doyle Moutray; nephew, Johnathan Tucker; and niece, Penny Lee. Jeanene "Jeani" Schultz Jeanene "Jeani" Schultz of St. James Missouri was born November 30, 1943 in Indianapolis, Indiana and passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the age of 75 years. Jeani, as she is known in the community, served as President of the St. James Lions Club for the past six years. She enjoyed working on the Lions fundraisers. Jeani grew up in Phoenix, Arizona then served in the US Navy as a nurse following high school in the 1960's. She married and moved to Sparks, Nevada where she worked for the Nevada School System with severely handicapped students for 35 years. She was preceded in death by her twin brother; parents; and grandparents. She is survived by her children, Kim Moore and husband Larry of Sacramento, California and Mick Schultz of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina; her sisters, Deanna Henderson and husband Tim of St. James, Missouri, Jeri Kelley of Arizona and Lynda Hallam and husband Guy of St. James, Missouri; other relatives and friends. Donald Lee Turnbough Donald Lee Turnbough of Davisville, Missouri was born on Wednesday, April 30, 1947 in Davisville, Missouri to Cletis James Ephriam and Mildred Delight Harris Turnbough and passed away in Cherryville, Missouri on Christmas Eve, Monday, December 24, 2018 at the age of 71 years, 7 months and 24 days. Don attended Cherryville High. Right after school, he married Judith Alberta "Bertie" Lawrence. After Bertie passed away in 1978, Don met Barbara Ann Carmack whom he married on March 3, 1979 in Steelville, Missouri. Don accepted the Lord early in life and he and Barb attended the Evangelical Holiness Church in Cuba, Missouri. Don was self- employed most of his life logging timber but he did work over 20 years for Fleming Manufacturing in Cuba, Missouri. He liked to sing and play his guitar, especially to gospel music. He loved hunting and fishing, enjoyed camping and riding motorcycles, 3-wheelers and four-wheelers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cletis and Mildred Turnbough; first wife, Judith Alberta "Bertie" Turnbough; parents-in-law, William and Jeanette Carmack; grandson, Jeremy Turnbough; and brothers-in-law, Jon Steven "Steve" Carmack and Bill Black. Laverna accepted the Lord early in life and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Steelville, Missouri. She married Charles "Jake" Robert Walls on March 18, 1944 in Cuba, Missouri. Laverna spent many years working as an insole cutter for Brown Shoe Company in Steelville, Missouri. She loved to quilt, crochet and do jigsaw puzzles and word searches. She enjoyed nature including feeding her deer, which included a large buck. She had a way with flowers and loved growing them both indoors and out. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Blanche Licklider; parents-in-law, Monte and Julie Walls; husband, Charles "Jake" Robert Walls Sr.; son, Samule Edward Walls; sons-in-law, Bill Hendrix and Micheal Holman; brothers James Robert Licklider and Oliver Licklider; brothers-in-law, Charles Rowden and Claude (Pearl) Walls; and sisters-in-law, Charlotte Licklider and Ada Cochran. She married Kenneth Green who passed away in 2003 and later married Kenneth Wilkinson who passed away in 2014. She attended Center Ridge Pentecostal Church for several years. She enjoyed quilting, fishing, camping and playing Bingo.
