MO Local Obituaries for the Week of January 5, 2011 Bobby Gene Barton Bobby Gene Barton of Rolla, Missouri was born on August 28, 1938 at Gatewood, Missouri to Vernon and Virgie (Lewis) Barton and passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2010 at the age of 72 years. Bob, as he was known by his family and friends, was raised in Corning, Arkansas and on March 28, 1970 was married to Barbara Etta LaBryer. He honorably served his country with the U.S. Marine Corps and after his discharge became employed with General Motors as an assemblyman. After 24 years of service to the company, he retired. He was known as a good-natured person who would always help others in need and was a friend to all. Bob also was an accomplished bowler and also enjoyed fishing and flower gardening. He also raised dogs as a hobby and as pets. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Virgie Barton and two brothers, Harold and Carl Barton. He is survived by his wife, Barbara of the family home; three sons, Bobby Barton Jr. and wife Vickie of Granite City, Illinois, Kevin Barton of Corning, Arkansas and Dale Courtway of St. James, Missouri; two brothers, Billy Barton of Pocahontas, Arkansas and Vernon Barton of Corning, Arkansas; four sisters, Polly Arnold of Little Rock, Arkansas, Shirley Cliffton of Corning, Arkansas, Jessie Barton of the state of Arizona and Kitty Carpenter of Corning, Arkansas; 8 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; special nephew, Carlus Barton and a special niece, Sharon O’Hara, whom he loved as his own; other relatives and friends. Artie Rovella Eddleman Artie Rovella Eddleman was born April 29, 1934, in Leasburg, Missouri to Noah Alexander and Rose Ellen Warden Copling and passed away Sunday, December 26, 2010, in Christian Health Care South, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of 76 years, 7 months and 26 days. On November 26, 1949, she was united in marriage to Perry Eddleman, Jr., and to this union three children were born. She was raised in the Cuba, Missouri community. After she and Perry were married, they made their home in the Lebanon, Missouri area and lovingly raised their children. Artie worked as a waitress and in the healthcare field for several years. She was very family-oriented and enjoyed caring for her home and cooking for her family. She also enjoyed being outdoors where her favorite activity was fishing. She was preceded in death by her parents, Noah and Rose Ellen Copling; her husband, Perry, on January 6, 2006; a great grandson, Rocco Patnaude- Villafane; four brothers, Benny, Vernon, Otis, and Alfred Copling and five sisters, Hazel Hayes, Violet Roth, Ida Coffman, Vivian Prottie and Arlie Kuhlman. Edelen of Cuba, Missouri was born March 15, 1941 at St. Louis, Missouri to Charles W. and Rose (nee Frederking) Edelen and passed away Sunday, December 26, 2010 at Cuba, Missouri at the age of 69 years, 9 months and 11 days. Charles was united in marriage to Pat Sweeney and to this union two sons were born. On April 11, 1987 Charles was united in marriage to Catherine (nee Desemone) Cool. Charles or “Charlie” as he was known, retired in 1998 from Laclede Gas Company after 31 years of dedicated service. In January of 1999 Charlie and Cathy moved to Indian Hills, were he enjoyed boating, fishing, a few rounds of golf with his sons and reading whenever he got the chance. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council 8920. Steve had worked for Mullally Distributing Company since 1974 and was currently a Route Supervisor. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a lifetime member of the N.R.A. and a member of the Sullivan F.O.E. What he enjoyed most was spending time with his family and friends. (Pasch) Dotson on August 28, 1921 in Oak Hill, Missouri and passed away Sunday, December 26, 2010 at the age of 89 years. Courtney was united in marriage to Bransford W. Jost on April 7, 1939 in Steelville, Missouri and to this union one daughter was born. Courtney was a member of the First Baptist Church of Owensville, Missouri. She retired at the age of 62 after 44 years at Brown Shoe Company of Owensville, Missouri. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, gardening, canning and spending time with her family and friends. Her home always reflected her great love for her family, where everyone was greeted with hugs and kisses. Being the oldest of 10 children it was important to her that her brothers and sisters and their families always knew her house was a home they could all come to, filled with memories, made of love.She was preceded in death by her parents, Bluford and Dora Dotson; her husband, Bransford W. Jost; brothers, Reuben, Rufus and Jackson Dotson; sisters, Goldie Spurgeon and Marie Dotson; sister-in-law, Connie Dotson; brother-in-law, Ezro Spurgeon. Roy Lee King Roy Lee King of Cuba, Missouri was born to Champ L. and Anne M. (Myers) King on September 30, 1945 in St. Louis, Missouri and passed away Sunday, December 26, 2010 in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 65 years. Roy was united in marriage to Kay Murrell on November 20, 1968 in Steelville, Missouri and to this union two children were born. Roy retired in 2008 from St. James Trucking after many years of dedicated service. He honorably and faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed fishing on the river and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Champ  and Anne King and one sister, Laura Hanley. Lawrence Thomas Kline Lawrence Thomas Kline of Sullivan, Missouri was born at Sullivan on November 19, 1918 to Jacob and Susan (Hopkins) Kline and passed away on Friday, December 24, 2010 at the age of 92 years. In 1942, he was united in marriage to Jean Banks who preceded him in death in April of 1970. On September 20, 1976 Lawrence was married to Elizabeth Stabener. She too, preceded him in death in September of 2009. Lawrence lived for a time in Illinois where he was employed as a pipefitter out of Wood River Plumbers and Pipefitters Local #553 until his retirement. He honorably served his country during WWII with the U.S. Navy as a welder in the shipyards at New Orleans. Lawrence enjoyed hunting and fishing and small farming. His greatest enjoyment, however, came from his many grand- children and great grandchildren. He was a member and Past Noble Grand of the Oddfellows Lodge #156 of Sullivan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Susan Kline; first and second wives; seven sisters, Madeline Asplin, Vivian Floros, Ruby Hoffman, Lillie Robertson, Florence Bouse, Helen Scott and Hattie Kline who died in infancy and three brothers, Raymond, Paul and John Kline. He is survived by three sons; Larry G. Kline and wife Sue of Bourbon, Missouri, Jerry Kline and wife Janet of Sullivan, Missouri and Wayne Stabener of Alton, Illinois; two daughters, Kim Enloe and husband Patrick of Sullivan, Missouri and Carrie Lenear of Sullivan, Missouri; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Royal Sidie Royal Sidie of St. James, Missouri was born on May 12, 1921 to Leda and John Scott Sidie in Viroqua, Wisconsin and passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at the Boone County Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri at the age of 89 years, 7 months and 16 days. His mother died when he was very young and his father was forced to send his children to various farms in the area to earn their keep.  Royal worked hard for his $0.25 a week, was a good student and enjoyed boxing while in high school. He enlisted in the Army National Guard in Wisconsin on October 2, 1940. His missions included flying over France, Germany, Belgium and Holland.  He never forgot those experiences. He never tired of re-telling these experiences, and met regularly with a local flier’s group. Royal married Ella Ruth Doll, of St. Mary’s, Missouri on June 25, 1941. He and Ella Ruth had two sons, Renai Patrick and Ronald James and a daughter, Rochelle Ann. Royal attended the University of Missouri–Rolla through the GI bill, and was a semester short of receiving his degree in Electrical Engineering when he went to work at the U.S. Geological Survey as a surveyor and cartographer until his retirement in 1972. He also set up the first television repair shop in Rolla, and he never tired of trying out the latest in TV, radio and recording technology.  He was an avid golfer up until he could no longer play due to a shoulder injury. He was a Cardinals’ fan and did the daily Cryptoquip in the St. Louis Post Dispatch religiously. After his wife’s death, he enjoyed traveling, especially to Scotland and also toured Europe. He vacationed in Hawaii and spent several years traveling back and forth to Minneapolis to spend time with his high school sweetheart, Gwen Rudroff. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Ruth; one son, Ronnie; daughter-in-law, Joanne and two granddaughters, Stacy and Marcie. He is survived by son, Renai and wife Janie Sidie; daughter, Rochelle and husband Stephen Akins; grandchildren, Kristie, Marc, Matthew and Nicholas; five great grandchildren; his friends on the bus that he took twice a week to the casino; the guys from the Flier’s group, his golfing buddies and all of his friends at the U.S.G.S. Funeral services with full military honors will be conducted on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri. Clarence Raymond Sites Clarence Raymond Sites of Cuba, Missouri, was born February 1, 1927 in Keysville, Missouri to Russell and Mary Kallmbah Sites and passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Phelps County Medical Center in Rolla, Missouri at the age of 83 years. He attended Missouri University at Columbia and graduated with a degree in Business. He also served his country in the U.S. Marines. In the 1950’s, Clarence went to work for Southwestern Bell in St. Louis. He later moved to Arizona in the 1960’s and went to work for Western States Telephone Company. He later went to work for the Arizona Department of Economics Security as supervisor of budgets and in 1995 moved back to Missouri. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cuba. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching auto racing and reading. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Mary Sites; three brothers, Earl, Herman and Delbert Sites and one sister, Helen Neely. He is survived by his son, Mark Sites and wife Amy of Phoenix, Arizona; one daughter, Nancy Hughes of Columbus, Ohio; one sister, Pearl Sites of Cuba, Missouri; six grandchildren, Donovan, Jonathan, Benjamin and Ethan Sites and Donna Hammons and Shyla Hughes; three great grandchildren, Sienna, Trajon and Mason Hammons; former wife, Betty King of Phoenix, Arizona; other relatives and friends.
