Judith Ann Black
Judith Ann (Judy) Black of Rolla, Missouri was born in Fort Sill, Oklahoma
on March 13, 1955 to Joe Allen and Joyce Arlene (Brooks) Wofford and passed
away Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at the age of 56 years.
On August 10, 1978 she married Rodney Black and they were blessed with a
son.
She was an avid gardener and also loved caring for children.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Joyce Wofford; father-in-law,
John Black; and brother-in-law, Johnny Black.
She is survived by her husband, Rodney Black of the home; father, Joe
Wofford of Salem, Missouri; son, Travis Black of Rolla, Missouri; three
sisters, Cheryl Lamb and husband Barry of Salem, Missouri, Debbie Hanger
and husband Jimmie of Salem, Missouri and Mary Bates and husband Richard
of Licking, Missouri; one brother, Alan Wofford and wife Barb of Salem,
Missouri; mother-in-law, Thelma Black of St. James, Missouri;
sisters-in-law, Janet Snavely of Springfield, Missouri, Joyce Watson of
Rolla, Missouri and Carol Zoellner of Rolla, Missouri; other relatives and
friends.
Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at the Null
and Son Funeral Home in Rolla, Missouri.
Funeral service was at 1 p.m. on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at the Null
and Son Funeral Home in Rolla, Missouri with Larry Tubbs officiating.
Interment followed in the Ozark Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Arrangements under the direction of the Null and Son Funeral Home in
Rolla, Missouri.
Violet R. Brewer
Violet R. Brewer (nee Shults) of Sullivan, Missouri was born on
January 3, 1918 in Leasburg, Missouri to Ed and Lela (Woodruff) Shults
and passed away Saturday, December 24, 2011 at the age of 93 years.
She married George Brewer on October 29, 1939 at the First Assembly of
God Church in Sullivan, Missouri.
She lived her whole life in the Sullivan area where she and George raised
three children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Lela Shults; husband,
George; daughter, Nancy Holloway; brother, Edward Shults and a sister,
Wanda Callahan.
She is survived by two sons, Glen Brewer and wife Annette of Jacksonville,
Florida, James “Mike” Brewer and wife Gayle of Sullivan, Missouri;
son-in-law, Joe Holloway of Winona, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Diana
Waldrop, Ronnie Holloway and wife Karen, Cleve Holloway and wife Alisha,
Terry Holloway and wife Annie, Virginia Reed and husband Dean, Bonnie
Holloway and Jamie Brewer; seven great grandchildren, Jewel Oranchek,
Jessica, Joanna and Jenna Waldrop, Heather Reed, Natasha Bell and Brittany
Holloway; great great grandson, Devin; special cousin, Ester Akers of
Sullivan, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2011 in the
Chapel of the Eaton Funeral home with burial following in the I.O.O.F.
Cemetery with Pastor Kyle Phillips officiating.

Missouri.
Gregory Allen Gilmore
Gregory Allen Gilmore of St. James, Missouri was born February 5, 1948 in
St. Louis, Missouri to Francis Marion and Maxine Irene (Matlock) Gilmore
and passed away Monday, January 2, 2012 at his home at the age of 63 years
10 months and 28 days.
On June 22, 1968, at Hazelwood, Missouri, Gregory was united in marriage
to Donna Lou Modglin.
Greg was in the Machinist Union of over 30 years, mostly working in
St. Louis, Missouri. He moved with his family to St. James, Missouri in
1999, and enjoyed his fishing and hunting and being with family.
He is preceded in death by his father, Francis Marion Gilmore.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; mother, Maxine Gilmore of St. James,
Missouri; son, David Alan Gilmore and his wife Theresa of Troy, Missouri;
one daughter, Jeannie Louise Spiller and her husband Jonathon of Troy,
Missouri; brother, Gerald Wayne Gilmore of Wentzville, Missouri; one
sister, Debora Weidner of Florida; four grandchildren, Peyton, Erica,
Isabella and Jared; other relatives and friends.
Visitation began at noon on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at the Jones
Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri.
Services were conducted at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at the
Jones Funeral Home with military honors following the service.
Arrangements under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in
St. James, Missouri.
William “Bill” L. Howerton
William “Bill” L. Howerton of Troy, Missouri, was born October 26, 1946
in St. Louis, Missouri to Leonard Morton and Virginia Howerton (Smith)
and passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2011 at his residence at the age
of 65 years.
On March 25, 1972 in St. Louis, Missouri, he was united in marriage to
Mary Sotta and to this union two children were born.
Bill graduated from Wentzville High School in 1965. He entered the US
Navy on August 31, 1965 in Wentzville, Missouri and was separated on
August 7, 1969 in San Diego, California. Bill was employed at MEMC, Moog
Automotive and retired from Bodine Aluminum in Troy. He was a member of
O’Fallon VFW Post 5077, Wentzville American Legion Post 323 and Ridge
Road Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Virginia Howerton
and one sister, Katherine Howerton.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Howerton of Troy, Missouri; one
daughter, Elaine Klein and husband, Chris of Bella Vista, Arkansas; one
son, Derrick Howerton of Troy, Missouri; one brother, Donald Howerton and
wife, Fayne Ann of Thompson, Missouri; one sister, Evelyn Spaulding of
Phoenix, Arizona and two grandchildren, Madison Klein and Connor Klein;
other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Kemper-Marsh-
Millard Family Funeral Home/Troy Chapel.
Funeral services were on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at 10 a.m. at the
Chapel.
Interment was in the New Home Cemetery in Steelville, Missouri, with
full military honors.

Funeral Chapel, Troy, Missouri.
Robert “Bob” Stephan Schalk
Robert “Bob” Stephan Schalk of Steelville, Missouri was born
November 21, 1946 in Denver, Colorado and was adopted by Walter A. and
Georgia M. Brake Schalk. He passed away Monday, December 26, 2011 at his
home in Steelville, Missouri at the age of 65 years, 1 month and 5 days.
Bob was a truck driver by trade until his health failed him a few years
ago. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, woodworking and hanging out at
the coffee shops. Most recently since moving to Steelville he was a regular
at the round table at Spare Rib cafe where he will be fondly remembered.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Wegner Schalk of the home in Steelville,
Missouri; two daughters, Sonia (George) McCurry of Redbud, Missouri,
Melissa Fritscl and companion (John Laramer) of Owensville, Missouri;
stepdaughters, Deanna (Daniel) Farel of Sullivan, Missouri, Khrista
(Daniel) Callaway of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and Brenda Bradshaw of
Steelville, Missouri; 16 grandchildren; sister, Joanna Huitt of Lebanon,
Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was at 5 p.m. and Memorial service at 6 p.m. on Monday,
January 2, 2012 at the Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with
Rev. Delmar B. Hutson officiating.
He chose to gift his body by anatomical donation.
Arrangements under the direction of the Hutson Funeral Home,
Steelville, Missouri.
Pearl Sites
Pearl Sites of Cuba, Missouri, formerly of Steelville, Missouri, was born
October 6, 1916 in Keysville, Missouri to Russell and Mary Kallmbah Sites
and passed away Monday, December 26, 2011 at Cuba Manor at the age of 95
years.
Pearl worked for several years in the clerical department of the Civil
Service in St. Louis, Missouri. After retirement, she moved back to
Steelville, Missouri and later to Cuba, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Mary Sites; four
brothers, Clarence Sites, Earl Sites and wife Elizabeth, Herman Sites and
Delbert Sites; and one sister, Helen Neely.
She is survived by seven nieces and nephews, Mark Sites of Phoenix,
Arizona, Deborah Combs of Camdenton, Missouri, Randy Richert of
St. Louis, Missouri, Nancy Hughes of Columbus, Ohio, Linda Schepers of
Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, Marlena Sites and Charles Sites of
Indianapolis, Indiana; and cousin, Evelyn McKinney; other relatives and
friends.
Visitation was from 11 a.m. until service time on Saturday,
December 31, 2011 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville,
Missouri.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at
the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with
Rev. Bob Knight officiating. Special music of “Amazing Grace” and
“Precious Memories” was played.
Committal prayer and burial were in the Steelville Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Mark Sites, Patrick Welker, Karl Combs, Randy
Richert, Jeff Sites and Ben McKinney.

Kathleen Marie “Kathy” Studards
Kathleen Marie “Kathy” Studards nee Murphy was born Tuesday,
December 7, 1954 in Oelwein, Iowa to Dr. George Murphy and Bettie (Murphy)
Bernardy and passed away Saturday, December 24, 2011 at her home in
Steelville, Missouri at the age of 57 years and 17 days.
She lived in the Jessup, Iowa area until 1963, when the family moved to
Tama, Iowa. She graduated from South County Tama High School.
She married Chris Studards on May 10, 2003 in Hazelwood, Missouri.
Kathy worked for Pyramid Health Services out of Rolla, Missouri as an
office scheduler, until her health failed. She accepted the Lord as her
Savior early in life and most recently attended the First Baptist Church in
Steelville, Missouri. She enjoyed gardening and decorating around their
home. She also enjoyed music, dancing and canoeing. Her favorite time of
year was Christmas and this year she celebrated Jesus’ birthday in heaven.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. George Murphy; her brothers,
David and Jim Murphy; sister, Becky Reinier; father-in-law, Clint “John”
Studards and brother-in-law, Danny Studards.
She is survived by her husband, Chris Studards of their home in Steelville,
Missouri; four children Chris (Krissy) Moesch of Hawk Point, Missouri,
Michelle (Liddell) Thomas of Kansas City, Missouri, Joe (Kristy) Moesch
of St. Joseph, Missouri and Elizabeth (Mike) Kimbrough of Cameron,
Missouri; seven grandchildren, Charlie, Brandon, Emma, Britney, Mia, Austin
and Dexter; mother, Bettie (Ben) Bernardy; siblings, Mike (Wendy) Murphy,
Sue (Craig) Auffert, Tim Murphy, Joe (Kay) Murphy, Tom (Chris) Murphy and
Ann (Burdette) Brown; mother-in-law, Virginia Studards of Steelville,
Missouri; step-daughter, Jenna Michelle Studards of St. Charles, Missouri;
brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mike (Dolly) Studards of Butler,
Missouri, Tom (Paulette) Studards of Colorado Springs, Colorado, John
Patrick (Marge) Studards of Avon Park, Florida; other relatives and friends.
Graveside service was held at 1 p.m., Friday, December 30, 2011 at the
Steelville Cemetery in Steelville, Missouri with Pastor Kevin Farr
officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Hutson Funeral Home in
Steelville, Missouri.
Erma Louise Webster
Erma Louise Webster of Piedmont, South Dakota, formerly of Steelville,
Missouri was born August 21, 1922 in St. Louis, Missouri to Otto Fink Jr.
and Ethel Lillian (Steppat) Fink and passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2011
in Rapid City, South Dakota at the age of 89 years.
On April 6, 1952 in Corinth, MS, she was united in marriage to Robert “Bob”
Webster.
During the late 1930’s, Erma made the U.S. Olympics Track & Field Team, but
was not able to participate due to the outbreak of the war. She also was
involved in the Federal Women’s Equal Opportunity committee as a
representative during the 1970’s when President Ford went into office.
Erma worked several years at the U. S. Government Records Center in
St. Louis, Missouri, as a computer programmer. She was a member of the
Martha and Mary Eastern Star Chapter 364 and a member of the Foothills
Community Baptist Church in Piedmont, SD. With her love for animals, Erma
was always well known for being an animal activist.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Ethel Fink; and her
husband Bob on October 29, 2008.
She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Stewart and her husband Bill of
Piedmont, South Dakota; her loving dog, Fred; her granddaughter, Christine
Newell of Black Hawk, South Dakota; her grandson, Michael Vrooman of
Denver, Colorado and her very special adopted grandson, David Stewart
and wife Tammy of Rapid City, South Dakota; and other grandchildren, Tina
Johnson and husband Jay of Sturgis, SD and Dan Stewart and wife Sheila of
Sioux Fall, South Dakota; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 4-5 p.m. on Friday, December 30, 2011 at the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
Eastern Star Services were held at 5 p.m. on Friday, December 30, 2011
at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
Memorial services followed immediately after the Eastern Star Services
on Friday, December 30, 2011 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in
Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Don Martin officiating. Special music of
“In the Garden,” “The Old Rugged Cross” and “When we See Christ” was sung
by Loretta Garrett and Pastor Don Martin. Memories were shared by her
daughter, Peggy.
Inurnment was in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis,
Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home
of Steelville, Missouri.
