MO Local Obituaries for the Week of Jan. 8, 2003 Lumary Dickhoener Lumary Dickhoener (nee Park) of Cuba, Missouri was born to Edward Park and Carrie Madding Park in Mt. Erie, Illinois on April 17, 1916. She passed away on December 27, 2002 at Courtois Creek Nursing Home, Cuba, Missouri at the age of 86 years, 8 months and 10 days. Lumary was married to Sylvester Dickhoener on January 30, 1939 at St. Patrick Church in St. Patrick, Missouri and to this union three children were born. She was very active in community activities before her retirement and especially enjoyed working with flowers and gardening. Lumary was preceded in death by her husband Sylvester, parents, one son Louis, grandson Stephen and brother Howard Park. Those who remain to mourn her passing are her two sons Edward Dickhoener and wife Gloria of Cuba, Missouri, Stephen Dickhoener of Miami, Florida; brother John Joseph Park and wife Beatrice of Williamburg, New Mexico; sister-in-law Martha Klinner of Quincy, Illinois; seven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, many relatives and friends. Visitation was Tuesday, December 31, 2002 from 4­8 p.m. at the Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri. Funeral service was Wednesday, January 1, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the Hutson Funeral Chapel with Rev. Eric Smith officiating. Musical selections sung were "Because He Lives," and "Amazing Grace," by Valerie Hutson. Burial was in Kinder Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri with pallbearers: Eddie Dickhoener, Joey Dickhoener, Matt Pacini, Richard Pacini, Justin Protte and Greg Treece. All arrangements were under the direction of Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri. Betty Sue Echols Betty Sue Echols (nee Butler) of Cuba, Missouri was born to Elzie Butler and Lidia Cleo Woodall Butler on November 22, 1944 in Culen, Louisiana. She passed away on Friday, December 27, 2002 at MO Baptist Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 58 years, 1 month and 5 days. Betty was married to Earl Markland for 32 years and to this union two children were born. She later married Philip Echols on August 9, 1990 at the Full Gospel Church in Sullivan, Missouri. Betty was very active in her church and loved to sing. She also enjoyed fishing as a hobby. She worked several years as a Certified Nurse and Registered Therapy Assistant. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Mildred Elrine Dodd. Those who remain to mourn her passing are her husband Philip of the home; son Rolla Earl Markland and wife Diane of Leasburg, Missouri, daughter Ethel Marie Adams and husband Kenneth of Stanton, Missouri; sisters Ann DeLanie and husband Cecil of Hope Hull, Alabama, Jean Mueller and husband Norman of Cuba, Missouri and Virine Pender and husband Paul Nelson of Leasburg, Missouri; sister and brother-in-laws Dee Fox and husband Chester of St. James, Missouri, Connie Echols, Ray Echols and wife Riva, Jerry Echols and wife Carol, Mike Echols and wife Wanda, all of Cuba, Missouri and Marcella Beneke and husband Owen of Owensville, Missouri; mother-in-law Deloris Echols of Cuba, Missouri; step children Gary Echols and wife Debbie; Rick Echols and wife Kathy, Phil Echols and wife Crystal, all of Owensville, Missouri; nine grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Visitation was on Tuesday, December 31, 2002 from 9­11 a.m. at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri. Funeral service was on Tuesday, December 31, 2002 at 11 a.m. at Hutson Funeral Chapel with Rev. Loyd Swyers officiating. Sharon Thomeczek sang, "Where the Soul Never Dies," accompanied on guitar by Rev. Loyd Swyers. Burial was at Licklider Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri with pallbearers Bradley Echols, Kenny Adams, Gary Echols, Paul Nelson, Ray Echols and Rick Echols. All arrangements were under the direction of Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri. M. Kathleen Hamilton M. Kathleen Hamilton passed away December 22, 2002 into the arms of her Lord after a brief illness. She was born August 18, 1936 in LaGrange, Missouri. In 1955 she married Donald Hamilton and they enjoyed 47 years together. They enjoyed traveling and visited all 50 states and many countries. She is survived by her husband Donald, son Vernie of Tallahassee, Florida, daughter Donna Cook and husband Bruce of Brampton, Ontario, Canada, son Bryan and wife Kathy of Manassas Park, Virginia and five grandchildren. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and will be greatly missed. A memorial service was held December 22, 2002. Rita Dawn Kaysinger Rita Dawn Kaysinger nee Volner of Rolla, Mo. was born on February 17, 1977 to the union of Donald Edward Volner and Beverly Gail Bouse Volner and passed away suddenly on December 26, 2002 in St. Louis, Mo. at the age of 25 years, 10 months and 9 days. On June 16, 1993 Rita was united in marriage to Craig Carter at Leasburg, Mo. On May 26, 2002 she was united in marriage to Kurt Kaysinger at Steelville, Mo. Rita was preceded in death by one daughter, Nichole Carter. Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life are her loving parents Donald Volner and Beverly Bouse; husband Kurt Kaysinger; three sons, Chase Carter and his father Craig Carter, Kyle Shafferkoetter and his father Carl and Kameron Kaysinger; one brother Scott Volner and wife Amy; one sister Rachel Volner and fiancé JJ Parker; mother-in-law Grace Kaysinger; grandmother Bonnie Bouse; our dear aunt, niece, relative and friend. Rita was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, granddaughter, good friend to all who knew her and will be sadly missed. Rita Dawn Kaysinger nee Volner was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo. where funeral services were held on Sunday, December 29, 2002 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Harold Harrison officiating. Interment was in the Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba, Mo. All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo. Elsie Walker Elsie Walker nee Hicks was born Monday, December 5, 1919 in Union City, Tennessee to the late James Jake Hicks and Mary Dunn Hicks and departed this life Tuesday, December 24, 2002 at the Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 83 years, 0 months, and 19 days. Elsie grew up in Paragould, Arkansas. She married Eugene Lonnie Walker on December 5, 1937 in Jonesboro, Arkansas and to this union three children were born. They made their home together in the Harvester, Missouri area near St. Charles, Missouri. She and Gene owned and operated a restaurant for several years before the children were born. She loved to sew, cook, crochet, play the piano; she loved people and especially her children and grandchildren. Gene passed away November 27, 1969. She remained in St. Charles, Missouri until moving to Steelville, Missouri with her daughter and son-in-law Darlene and Benny Hornbeck. Elsie accepted the Lord many years ago and attended the Steelville First Assembly of God Church. Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, and one son Lonnie. Those who remain to mourn her passing are her children: Darlene and husband Charles (Benny) Hornbeck of Steelville, Missouri and Vicky and husband Danny Monroe of Defiance, Missouri. One brother James Hicks of St. Louis, Missouri; three grandchildren Cheryl and husband Carl Graham of Bremen, Ohio, Carol and husband William (Bill) Wood of Steelville, Missouri, and Charles (Chad) Hornbeck II of Steelville, Missouri. Four great-grandchildren, Lauren Wood of Steelville, Missouri and Chelsie, Clorissa, and Chance Graham of Bremen, Ohio; nieces, nephews other relatives, and friends all who will sadly miss and fondly remember Hazel "Elsie" Walker. Earl Leslie Vaughn Earl Leslie Vaughn of Cuba, Mo. was born on April 26, 1925 at Cook Station, Mo. to the union of Henry Berry Vaughn and Myrtle Pearl (Roberts) Vaughn and passed away on December 30, 2002 at Phelps County Regional Medical Center of Rolla, Mo. at the age of 77 years, 8 months and 4 days. On January 10, 1947 Earl was united in marriage to Ruth E. Graham at Cuba, Mo. They were happily married until Ruth preceded Earl in death on September 30, 1998. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Noel, Floyd, Lloyd, Everett and Elmer Vaughn and one sister, Mae Vaughn. On October 24, 1944 Earl entered the Army of the United States and was honorably discharged on August 8, 1946 after having served in World War II. He was also a member of the Cuba United Methodist Church. Those who survive to mourn his passing from this life are his three sons Glenn Vaughn and wife Bonnie, Dennis Vaughn and Don Vaughn and wife Rhonda; two brothers Charles Vaughn and Wilbur Vaughn and wife Imogene; sister-in-law Eileen Vaughn; three grandchildren, Ra Dawn Gloriod and husband Lou, Gregg Vaughn and Helen Vaughn; one great-granddaughter, Alana Meskel; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends. Earl was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother, good friend to all who knew him and will be sadly missed. Earl Leslie Vaughn was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo. where funeral services were held on Saturday, January 4, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. with Don Vaughn and Tom Slovensky officiating.
