Rose Margaret Gelven
Rose Margaret Gelven of Sullivan, Missouri formerly of Warrenton, Missouri was
born to the union of Joseph and Margaret Minnie (Riechardt) Rosemann on
April 28, 1927 in St. Louis, Missouri and passed away Sunday, December 30, 2007
in Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 80 years, 8 months and 2 days.
Rose was united in marriage to Nelson Gelven.
She retired as a Lithographer from Letter Head and Check Corp. in St. Louis,
Missouri after many years of service. She enjoyed playing cards, sewing,
painting, planting flowers in her garden and singing. She was a former
parishioner of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Warrenton, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Bernard,
Harold and Julius Rosemann; one sister, Marie Chancellor; three brothers-in-law,
Ray Klien, John Winkeler and Charles Carmichael.
She is survived by four sisters, Frances and husband Melvin Keeven of Leasburg,
Missouri, Dorothy Klien of Michigan, Theresa Winkeler of St. Louis, Missouri,
Catherine Carmichael of Phoenix, Arizona; five brothers, Walter and wife
Lucille Rosemann of St. Charles, Missouri, Elmer and wife JoAnn Rosemann of
Memphis, Tennessee, Joseph and wife Dorothy Rosemann of St. Louis, Missouri,
Leroy and wife Doris Rosemann of Salem, Missouri and Clarence and wife Alice
Rosemann of Bunker, Missouri; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Friday, January 4, 2008 from 10-11 a.m. at St. Francis
Catholic Church, Bourbon, Missouri.
Funeral Mass was Friday, January 4, 2008 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic
Church, Bourbon, Missouri with Rev. James Finder as the celebrant.
Graveside service Friday, January 4, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Laurel Hills Memorial
Gardens, St. Louis, Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.
Edna Marie Long
Edna Marie Long was born June 8, 1917 at Bloomfield, Missouri to Veda (Martin)
Robinson and James Ernest Robinson.
She passed away December 24, 2007 at the age of 90 years, 6 months and 16 days
at the Golden Living Center in Bloomfield, Missouri.
She was united in marriage to Theron C. Long on June 8, 1935 on her 18th
birthday and to this union 12 children were born.
Edna was a faithful member of over 70 years at St. Joe General Baptist Church
in Idalia, Missouri where she taught Sunday school class and was active in
Violet Jones Circle and was a “Secret Pal.”
She was a great cook and always looked out for neighbor kids and those less
fortunate. She made lots of quilts throughout her lifetime. She won many
ribbons when she entered her quilts in shows.
She was preceded in death by one son, John Albert Long; two daughters, Shirley
Jolene Angel and Linda Joyce Courtemanche; one son-in-law, Smokey Heilman;
daughter-in-law, Carolyn Long; two sisters, Vergie Robinson and Edith Corbin.
She is survived by her husband; nine children, Theron Cleveland (Marg) Long of
O’Fallon, Missouri, Shannon J. Heilman of Bloomfield, Missouri, Sandra Jean
(James) Mowry of Cherryville, Missouri, Robert Lee Long of Granite City,
Illinois, Daniel Michael Long of Bloomfield, Missouri, William Ernest (Carol)
Long of Bloomfield, Missouri, Darrol Kent (Linda) Long of Bloomfield, Missouri,
Patricia Ann (Dennis) Charest of St. Louis, Missouri, Robin Craig Long of
Bloomfield, Missouri; 35 grandchildren; great grandchildren and great great
grandchildren; one sister, Joyce Wamble and one brother, James Robinson, both
of Dexter, Missouri.
Visitation was Friday, December 28, 2007 from 5-8 p.m. at the Chiles-Cooper
Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Missouri.
Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2007 at the Funeral
Home with Rev. Dan Sitze officiating.
Burial followed in the Bluff Cemetery at Idalia, Missouri.
Betty Jean McCormick
Betty Jean McCormick of Cuba, Missouri formerly of Springfield, Missouri was
born to the union of George Edward and Myrtle Ann (DeGonia) Hood on
June 16, 1934 in Morse Mill, Missouri and passed away Friday, January 4, 2008
in Cuba, Missouri at the age of 73 years, 6 months and 19 days.
Betty was a homemaker and enjoyed playing Keno, bingo, spending time on the
computer, watching TBN and making crafts.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald McCormick; three,
brothers James and Nelson Hood and Thomas Kriner; one sister, Edna Mae Manly.
She is survived by one son, Garry and wife Kathy McCormick of Cuba, Missouri;
one daughter, Donna Stricklin of Springfield, Missouri; one sister, Georgiann
McGinnis of Rolla, Missouri; six grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; nieces;
nephews; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Tuesday, January 8, 2008 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at
Britton Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri. Funeral was Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at
1 p.m. at Britton Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Knight, officiating.
Interment in St. James Cemetery, St. James, Missouri.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba,
Missouri.
Hadley David Moses Sr.
Hadley David Moses Sr. was born November 21, 1945 at St. Albans, Missouri
to Clarence and Louise (Blair) Moses and he passed away on Tuesday,
January 1, 2008 at the Presbyterian Hospital at the age of 62 years, 1
month and 11 days.
Hadley, formerly of Washington County, Missouri had made his home in the
west for several years.
He spent part of his working years at General Motors of St. Louis, Missouri
and several years as a welder; before becoming disabled. He was an avid
singer, musician, fisherman, artist and cook.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, George Herman Moses,
Celeatis Moses and Carl Moses.
He is survived by five sons, Richard Young of Salem, Missouri, Wesley Young
and wife Cindy of Ironton, Missouri, Paul Todd and wife Nicole of Viburnum,
Missouri, Dewayne Moses and wife Nicole of Chester, Illinois and Hadley Jr.
of St. Mary, Missouri; two daughters, Stacy Hall and husband Mike of Swansea,
Illinois and Susan Ehrenreich and husband John of Perryville, Missouri; one
step daughter, Patty Wisdom; 12 grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Mary Moses
of Collinsville, Illinois and Linda Moses of Park Hills, Missouri;
Three brothers, Harold Moses and wife Pauline of Belleville, Illinois, Auzzie
Moses and wife Nina of Steelville, Missouri and Kenneth Moses and wife Kim
of Wright City, Missouri; five sisters, Iria Jean Barnhart and husband Jack
of Hagerman, Idaho, Naomi Mitchell and husband Albert of Beaufort, Missouri,
Ruby Haffer and husband Dale of Steelville, Missouri, Phyllis Cashion of
Senath, Maryland and Cheryl Taggart and husband Steve of Bennett, Colorado.
Memorial service will be at a later date in Missouri with interment at
Jefferson Barracks Cemetery.
Arrangements under the direction of the Daniels Funeral Home of Albuquerque.
Pauline Mueller
Pauline H. Mueller, Sullivan, Missouri, was born May 24, 1911 at Almont, North
Dakota to Gustav and Ada (Bahr) Sievert. She passed away Friday,
December 28, 2007 at the Montgomery Nursing and Rehabilitation Center,
Hillsboro, Illinois at the age of 96 years.
On November 26, 1931 she was married to Herbert Mueller of Iowa Falls, Iowa
and to this union 10 children were born.
The family moved to Champion City (near Sullivan, Missouri) in 1940 where
Herbert farmed the next 38 years. Pauline spent her life helping her husband
on the farm, raising children and tending to the garden. She was a member
of Holy Martyrs of Japan Parish.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, Robert and
daughter, Mary Ann Kayser; three brothers, Arnold, Zolen and David Sievert
and one sister, Vera Crosser.
She is survived by children, Don Mueller and wife Judi of Columbus, Georgia,
Tom Mueller of Elsberry, Missouri, Glenn Mueller and wife Jane of Hillsboro,
Illinois, Dale Mueller and wife Elaine of Katy, Texas, John Mueller and wife
Linda of Snohomish, Washington, Jerry Mueller and wife Sandy of Sullivan,
Missouri, Ray Mueller and wife Joan of Walnut Grove, Missouri and Roy Mueller
and wife Delia of Richmond Hills, Georgia; brothers, Vernon Sievert of Ashland,
Missouri, Gus Gale Sievert of Kansas City, Missouri; sisters, Ruth Laney of
Springfield, Missouri and Jane Young-Belk of Tularosa, New Mexico;
grandchildren, great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at the Eaton Funeral
Home in Sullivan, Missouri.
A mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 3, 2008
from Holy Martyrs of Japan Catholic Church with Rev. Father John Patrick Day,
C.P., officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan,
Missouri.
John A. Pinnell
John A. Pinnell of Cuba, Missouri was born Wednesday, May 19, 1920 at Cuba,
Missouri to the union of Walter J. and Sarah Elizabeth (nee Enloe) Pinnell
and passed away Sunday, January 6, 2008 at St. Louis County, Missouri at the
age of 87 years, 7 months and 18 days.
John was united in marriage to Mildred Eva McCune on June 24, 1942 at Wellston,
Missouri and to this union five children were born.
John served his country in the United States Army from September 1942 until
October 1945. He served under General Patton, landed on the beach at Normandy,
was in seven different countries during this time overseas and was part of the
“Battle of the Bulge.” He was awarded two Bronze Stars for Rhineland and Central
Europe Campaigns and the Good Conduct Medal.
He owned and operated his own dairy farm for 47 plus years. He was a member of
Trinity Chapel for over 50 years, member of the Cuba VFW Post, Crawford Co. Coon
Hunters Association and Mid America Dairy Association.
In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, making fishing plugs and all
kinds of crafts, but what mattered most was his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Earl and Frank Pinnell;
one granddaughter, Juella; two sons-in-law, David Brown and Ed Mitchell and
other relatives and friends.
He is survived by his two sons, Donald “Pete” and wife Charlotte Pinnell of
Cuba, Missouri, Ronald “Bud” Pinnell of Nashville, Tennessee; three daughters,
Joan Mitchell, Judith and husband Don Doss and Ellen Brown all of Cuba,
Missouri; two brothers, George Pinnell of Cuba, Missouri and Jimmy and wife
Barbara of St. Ann, Missouri; two sisters, Ida May Licklider and Gladyne Riddle
both of Cuba, Missouri; 13 grandchildren, Scott and wife Sandy, Steve and wife
Amy, Shellee and husband Shawn, Michael J., Daryl and wife Melissa, Donald and
wife Angela, RJ and wife Veronica, Maggie, Daniel J. and wife Michelle, Roger,
Anna Lea, John Paul and wife Maria and Margie, 13 great grandchildren, nieces,
nephews; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Tuesday, January 8, 2008 from 5-8 p.m. at Britton Funeral
Home of Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral service was at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at Britton Funeral
Home with Pastor Gary Mace officiating. Special music of “Blessed Assurance”
and “The Old Rugged Cross,” was provided by Darlene Cape and Sandy Mitchell.
Serving as pallbearers were eight grandsons, Scott, Steve, Michael J., Donald,
RJ, Daniel J., Roger and John Paul.
Burial to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri with full military honors.

Richard Frank Tacchi
Richard Frank Tacchi of Owensville, Missouri was born August 31, 1946 in
Sullivan, Missouri to Angelo and Goldie Marie (nee Strauser) Tacchi. He passed
away Thursday, December 27, 2007 at the age of 61 years.
After high school he joined the US. Navy in 1966 where he honorably served his
country for the next four years.
He married Carolyn F. Abfall on January 2, 1998 in Louisiana, Missouri and
recently moved from Cuba, Missouri to Owensville, Missouri. He worked most of
his life selling cars and loved anything with wheels, especially classic cars.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of the home; three sons, Richard Frank Weber and wife
Jamie of Winfield, Missouri, Troy Anthony Tacchi and wife Tiny of Georgia and
Matthew Poinsett and friend April Courtney of St. Charles, Missouri; four
daughters, Christine Poinsett and Katie Poinsett, both of St. Louis, Missouri;
Carrie Owens and husband Shaun of Douglas, Arizona, Scarlett Shinholster and
husband Blake of Cartersville, Georgia; 13 grandchildren, Richard, Kelsey,
Trace, Jacob P., Haylie, Zoey, Katie, Evan, Julia, Bryar, Rhylan, Andrew and
Jacob C.; three sisters, Toni Wilcox and husband Charles of Wildwood, Missouri,
Sandra Tacchi of Ellisville, Missouri and Jackie Blair of Florida; other
relatives and friends.
Funeral service was Monday, December 31, 2007 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the
Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri with Michael Delashmit officiating.
Interment was in the Cave Springs Cemetery with full military honors.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan,
Missouri.
John A. Volz, Jr.
John A. Volz, Jr., of Cuba, Missouri, formerly of St. Louis, Missouri, was
born Thursday, June 29, 1939 to John A. Volz., Sr and Margaret McGrane Volz.
He passed away in his home on Saturday, January 5, 2008 at the age of 68 years,
6 months and 7 days.
John married Patricia A. Holthaus on September 26, 1964 in St. Louis, Missouri
and to this union two children were born.
He previously owned and operated Volz Packing Company in St. Louis, Missouri
and later worked as a meatcutter. His hobbies were hunting, fishing and
spending with his dog, Deke.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife; children, John A. Volz III of Alcova, Wyoming and
Krista Adams of O’Fallon, Missouri; grandchildren, Emily and Sophia Adams;
sisters, Joy Marshall of New Jersey and Jayne (Gordon) Pitney of Georgia;
brothers-in-law, Robert (Linda) Holthaus of Bowling Green, Kentucky, John
(Mary) Holthaus and Tom (Peggy) Holthaus, all of Florissant, Missouri; and
Mike Holthaus of Quincy, Illinois; nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was Tuesday, January 8, 2008 from 5-8 p.m. at the Hutson Funeral
Home, Cuba, Missouri. Funeral Mass was Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at 10 a.m.
at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Cuba, Missouri with Father James Finder
officiating. Burial at Sewell Cemetery, St. James, Missouri.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba,
Missouri.
