As a young lady Dorthy apprenticed as a beautician and from 1971 to 1987 she owned and operated her own shop called Glamor Boutique. She married Larry Austin on June 1, 1984 and they celebrated 34 years together. Dorthy enjoyed quilting and made many quilts for others. She was an avid Cardinals Baseball fan. He spent most of his life working at various canoe rentals, such as Bass', Birds Nest, Fagans, Indian Springs and The Rafting Co, flipping rafts and canoes or driving shuttles; he even worked doing that in the summers in high school. He was a former member of the Coon Hunters Association. He had a band called Jim Harmon and the Crawford County Stringboys. John Bruce Scudder Sr. John Bruce Scudder Sr. of Rolla, Missouri, formerly of St. James, Missouri was born in Oneonta, New York on August 14, 1934 to Julian and Benrice (Brown) Scudder and passed away Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the age of 84 years. After graduating high school John attended a technical trade school where he learned the automobile die trade. He then went to work for Ford Motor Company as a die specialist. He worked at many trades over the years. John married Shirley Hicks on September 15, 1954. John had a strong faith in God and would go on to join the ministry. He went to work for the Underground Evangelism, this company built secret compartments to smuggle bibles behind the Iron Curtin. John worked for the Operating Engineers on a road construction crew that built I-65 through Indiana. He also started his own company, J.B. Scudder Construction, that built houses, businesses and did home improvements. John felt was his true passion and calling was the ministry and he would go on to pastor several area churches over the course of his lifetime including Winkler Baptist Church, Ft. Wyman Baptist, and he was the Interim Pastor at Salem Ave Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julian and Benrice Scudder; his daughter, Carol Jean Scudder; and son, James Earl Scudder. Brenda worked 25 years in the florist business where she began at Hillcrest Florist in Salem, Missouri, then later opened her own florist shop in Bunker, Missouri. She moved to Cuba, Missouri 16 years ago and enjoyed gardening, painting, wood burning art, crocheting, embroidering and sewing. Diane married Albert Swanson on December 30, 1950 in Pocahontas, Arkansas. Diane was a homemaker, a member of the Eastern Star, and a devoted member of the Vichy Community Church. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, traveling, bible study, and music. She especially enjoyed playing her "bass tub" during church services and at birthday celebrations at the Vichy Wye.
