Fredrick William “Fred” Bouse
Fredrick William “Fred” Bouse of Cuba, Missouri was born on
December 9, 1944 in Potosi, Missouri to Harry P. and Iva E. (Pharis)
Bouse, Sr. and passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Missouri
Baptist Hospital in Sullivan at the age of 69 years.
Fred worked many years for Wilson Construction and West Contracting.
He enjoyed working on old cars and trucks, watching wrestling and
spending time with his family and friends.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harry P.
Bouse, Jr. and Russell Bouse.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma (Adair) Bouse; two children, David
Bouse and Tammy Page all of Cuba, Missouri; three grandchildren,
Richard (Hillarey) Page, Laura Page and James (Carlie) Page; three
great-grandchildren, Kylie, Jayden and Camron; three brothers, Larry
and wife Alberta Bouse of Cuba, Missouri, David and Richard Asher
both of Lebanon, Missouri; one sister, Daisy Ruth Ann and husband Tom
Scholljegerdes of Aurora, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Charlotte
Bouse of Cuba, Missouri; nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews
and many friends.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. at
Mizell Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at 1 p.m. at
Mizell Funeral Home with Rev. Herman Rogers, officiating.
Interment followed at Kinder Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the Mizell Funeral Home in
Cuba, Missouri.
Anita Kay Korver
Anita Kay Korver of Sullivan, Missouri, was born in Akron, Ohio and
passed away at her home on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at the age of
61 years, 10 months and 26 days.
She was raised in Cuba, Missouri and attended Cuba High School. She
later attained an Associate of Science Degree in Respiratory Therapy.
For a time she was employed at Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital.
Anita was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary and the
Ladies Auxiliary of the Sullivan Fire Protection District. She, at
one time, was also a firefighter for the District. Anita loved bingo,
traveling and riding the motorcycle with her husband, and was an avid
reader.
She was a member of the Salem Faith Assembly of God.
On March 1, 1980 she was united in marriage to Mark W. Korver in
Pembroke, Florida.
She is survived by her husband, Mark Korver of the family home; two
daughters, Yvette Losier and husband JP of Round Rock, Texas and Lisa
Nunnemaker and husband Paul of Hermann, Missouri; 11 grandchildren
and one great-grandchild; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at
the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri.Funeral services were
conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 3, 2014 from the Eaton
Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri with Pastor Bill Anderson
officiating.
Interment in Meramec Hills Memorial Garden, Cuba, Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home in
Sullivan, Missouri.
Mary Lou Martin
Mary Lou Martin of Cuba, Missouri was born Tuesday, April 9, 1932
at Centralia, Oklahoma to the union of Wesley and May (nee Moor)
Nivens and left from this life on Monday, December 30, 2013 at the
Maries Manor in Vienna, Missouri at the age of 81 years.
Mary was united in marriage to Ivan D. Martin on September 30, 1950
at Ferguson, Missouri and to this union two sons were born, Dale and
Patrick.
Mary worked as an office manager for M. Walter Roofing in St. Louis
for nearly twenty years before they moved to Cuba in the early 1970’s.
Mary was a member of the Rolla Bible Church. She enjoyed crocheting,
knitting, cooking and spent hours reading. In their younger years
they did a lot of camping and traveling. Mary watched “Murder She
Wrote,” “Matlock,” “Perry Mason” and “Iron Side,” she always liked a
good mystery. Many years ago she watched “The Secret Storm” and later
“As The World Turns.” Mary spent hours with her grandchildren and her
great grandchildren spoiling each of them.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and May Nivens;
husband, Ivan D. Martin; one brother, James Wesley Nivens and other
relatives and friends.
She is survived by her sons, Dale and wife Cynthia Martin of Webster
Groves, Missouri and Patrick and wife Sherri Martin of Cuba, Missouri;
five grandchildren, Diana and husband Kevin Paglush, Tiffany and
husband Brad Poynter, Jacob Martin, Janice Burch and Chelsey and
husband Alan Friedmann; six great grandchildren, Kolbi Poynter,
Seamus Burch, Kayden Friedmann, Haylei Poynter, Sophia Friedmann and
Kaine Paglush; sister-in-law, Ruthene and husband Dick Krulik of
Cuba, Missouri; brother-in-law, Edgar and wife Linda Martin of Dixon,
Missouri; nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Thursday, January 2, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. at the
Mizell Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 3, 2014 at the
Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri with Pastor Alex Busenitz
officiating.
Interment and prayers followed at the Freeman Cemetery, Cherryville,
Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba,
Missouri.
Jewell Audie McCoy
Jewell Audie McCoy of Gerald, Missouri was born on March 31, 1945
in Bardwell, Kentucky to William and Margie (Jones) McCoy and passed
away on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at his residence at the age of
68 years.
On August 18, 1983 in St. Louis, Missouri he was united in marriage
to Debra DeFrenne.
He was a member of the Church of Christ of Bardwell, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Margie McCoy;
a great granddaughter, Angel Michelle Gowers; brother, Edward McCoy;
and sister, Loretta Laird.
He is survived by his wife, Debra; sons, Gary Gowers and wife Kyung
Sook of Gerald, Missouri, William Gowers and wife Cally of Ozark,
Missouri and Jason Gowers and wife Sara of Bourbon, Missouri;
daughters, Kimberly McCoy of Gerald, Missouri, Danyelle Greife and
husband Jason of Leslie, Missouri, Amy Carmago and husband Carlos
of Moline, Illinois and Sarah Hildebrand and husband Tyler of Gerald,
Missouri; brother, Wayne McCoy and wife Susan of Bourbon, Missouri;
sister, Darlene Hummell and husband Nick of St. Louis, Misosuri;
16 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; other relatives and
friends.
His body was cremated and a memorial service was held on Saturday,
January 4 at 11 a.m. at the Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Gerald,
Missouri with Billy Gowers officiating.

Joan B. Pennick
Joan B. Pennick of Cuba, Missouri was born on December 19, 1937 in
Cardwell, Missouri and passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at
Cuba Manor at the age of 76 years.
Joan was a homemaker most of her life and taking care of her
children and grandchildren were the most important things to her.
She enjoyed TV shows, tennis, fishing, bowling, crocheting and
knitting.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents, Nevil Vaughn and Bertha
Mae (Ray) Allen; husband, James Pennick; one brother, Nevil
Vaughn, Jr.; one grandson, Tommy Capps.
She is survived by five children, Karen and husband Kevin Graham of
St. Louis, Missouri, Scott and wife Tori Sisson of Columbia,
Missouri, Vaughn and wife Sharon Sisson of Cuba, Missouri, Paula and
husband Tom Capps of Bourbon, Missouri, Pamela and husband Jr. Burke
of Cuba, Missouri; two sisters, Paulette Gamblin of Seymour,
Missouri and Dortha Strawn of Valley Park, Missouri; 15 grandchildren,
six great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews
and many friends.
Private family visitation was held on Friday, January 3, 2014 at
Mizell Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri.

Leita Faye (Cowan) Scott
Leita Faye (Cowan) Scott of Bismarck, Missouri was born in Rolla,
Missouri to Robert Elmo and Ella Mae Cowan and passed away
December 31, 2013 at her home at the age 51 years.
She grew up in St. James, Missouri. She was the youngest daughter
of seven children.
She married Kevin Scott on June 13, 1992 in Farmington, Missouri
and they lived on their farm near Irondale, Missouri.
Leita graduated as salutatorian from St. James High School in 1980
and the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1985 with degrees in
Animal Science and Economics.
As avid horse enthusiast, she was active in 4-H as a child and was
a horse trainer as an adult. She enjoyed showing horses, rodeoing,
and team roping with her husband. Leita spread her love of horses
by teaching others how to ride through Faith Cowboy Church and
the Girl Scouts of the Missouri Heartland.
She is survived by her husband, Kevin Scott; children, Kacie and
Landon; step-sons, James Scott of Farmington, Missouri and Warren
Scott of Farmington, New Mexico; step grandchild, Clark Scott;
six brothers and sisters, Jo Ann Webb of Columbia, Missouri, Rena
Cowan of Pleasant Hill, Oregon, Robert Cowan Jr. of Memphis,
Tennessee, Cheryl Ohlert of St. Louis, Missouri, Dwight Cowan of
Germantown, Tennessee, and Eric Cowan of Kirkwood, Missouri; and
numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and their children.
Visitation was held from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, January 6, 2014.
Funeral service was at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 with
Pastors Ronnie Rothlisberger and Mike McGee acting as officiates.
Serving as pallbearers were Bob Vaughn, Bob Moran, Jim Ford, Dave
Dickerson, Mike McKinney, and Dan Weibel.
Burial at High Gate Baptist Church Cemetery immediately following
the funeral.

Verna Christina “Chris” Smith
Verna Christina “Chris” Smith of Cuba, Missouri was born Tuesday,
January 7, 1969 at Sullivan, Missouri to James Henry and Verna
Faye (nee Dotson) Gruver and passed away Sunday, December 29, 2013
at Cuba, Missouri at the age of 44 years.
Chris was united in marriage to Jay Smith on February 14, 1997 at
Steelville, Missouri.
She worked for many years as a Home Health Care Aid and attended
the Evangelical Holiness Church of Cuba. Chris enjoyed crocheting,
taking pictures, being in pictures, fishing and hunting.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Gruver.
She is survived by her husband, Jay Smith of Cuba, Missouri; two
children, Merissa Enke and friend Mike Davis of Cuba, Missouri and
James Thomas “Tommy” Enke of Hutchinson, Kansas; four grandchildren,
Desiree, Madison, Makinzy and Mike Davis, Jr. “MJ”; mother, Verna
Gruver; three brothers, James Leon and wife Kathy Gruver, William
“Billy” and wife Eutonna Gruver and Herman Wayne and wife Amy Gruver,
all of Cuba, Missouri; one sister, Vicky Lynn Bailey and husband

Bro. Don Mitchell and Bro. Don Turnbough and “Before the Roses
Bloom Again” by Janet Woods.
Pallbearers were Brad Gruver, Ryan Limberg, Caleb Loucks, Drew
Weems, Billy Smith and Brandon Limberg.
Interment and prayers followed at the Kinder Cemetery, Cuba,
Missouri.

Beverly Kay Sterling
Beverly Kay Sterling, nee Greig, of Steelville, Missouri was born on
Friday, September 11, 1959 in Rolla, Missouri to Jona and Nina
Goodson Greig and passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at the
age of 54 years, 3 months and 18 days.
Beverly married Dave Sterling on June 18, 1977 and to this union one
daughter was born.
She worked in the heel cover department at Brown Shoe Company for
several years. Beverly liked hummingbirds and she enjoyed gardening,
hiking, photography and collecting rocks. She had fond memories of
participating in the 4-H Club years ago and was a member of First
Baptist Church, Steelville, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jona Greig; father-in-law,
Leslie Sterling and mother-in-law, Virginia Sterling.
She is survived by her husband, Dave Sterling; daughter, Lacey
Sterling; mother, Nina Greig, all of Steelville, Missouri; sisters,
Mary (Kenneth Preston) Gegg of Augusta, Georgia, Barbara (James)
Little of Autaugaville, Alabama, Carolyn (Keith) Clark and Nancy
Husky of Steelville, Missouri; brothers-in-law, James (Mary)
Sterling of Kirkwood, Missouri, John (Teri) Sterling of Washington,
Missouri and Robert “Jerry” (Sandy) Sterling of Germantown, Wisconsin;
sisters-in-law, Sue Sterling of Warrensburg, Missouri and Carol

James Raymond Susnic
James Raymond Susnic of Sullivan, Missouri was born at Florissant,
Missouri on February 14, 1944 to Blasé Joseph and Emily (Kucera)
Susnic and passed away Friday, December 27, 2013 at the age of 69
years, 10 months and 13 days.
Jim, as he was known by his family and friends, was united in
marriage to Ramona Messick on June 29, 1963 and to this union four
children were born.
Jim was employed 34 years with the Crawford Electric Co-op and took
an early retirement due to ill health. He was a member of Saint
Matthew Lutheran Church of Sullivan where he devoted himself as an
Elder, Sunday school superintendent and youth leader. Jim enjoyed
gardening and deer hunting, tinkering with things and working with
his hands.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Emily Susnic; a
brother, Blasé Susnic, Jr.; and a sister, Carol Squires.
He is survived by his wife, Ramona of the family home; one son,
James Susnic and wife Lise’ of Sullivan, Missouri; three daughters,
Janet Sanders and husband Rob of Leasburg, Missouri, Jeannie Mullen
and husband David of Sullivan, Missouri and Jessica Carey and
husband Jeffrey of Sullivan, Missouri; two brothers, David Susnic
and wife Judy of Leasburg, Missouri and John Susnic and wife Becky
of Sullivan, Missouri; one sister, Susan Staley and husband Chuck
of St. Charles, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Cameron Sanders,
Caleb Sanders, Jennifer Susnic, Tripp Sanders, Jacob Susnic, Saige
Carey and Anden Carey; one great grandson, Chantz Sanders; a special
niece whom he raised as his own, Resha Messick; the Steve Stumpe
family who are beloved friends; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at
the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri.
Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. on Thursday,
January 2, 2014 from Saint Matthew Lutheran Church in Sullivan,
Missouri with Pastor Tim McCarty officiating.
Interment was in the Crow Cemetery.
Arrangements under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home in
Sullivan, Missouri.
Deborah Dee (Marsh) Vinson
Deborah Dee (Marsh) Vinson of Benton, Missouri was born on
October 28, 1967 in Sikeston, Missouri to Joseph Clarke and Helen
Charlene Marsh and passed away January 1, 2014, at the St. Francis
Medical Center in Cape Girardeau at the age of 46 years.
She was a registered nurse.
She had been married to J.D. Swain, who survives.
Additional survivors include three sons, Josh (Ashlie) Swain, Ryan
Swain, and Joey (Amber) Clark, all of Sikeston, Missouri; two
sisters, Sandra Jo Marsh of St. Louis, Missouri and Barbara Ann
Marsh of Sikeston, Missouri; two grandchildren; a special niece,
Kayla Rose Marsh of Cape Girardeau, Missouri and her fiancé, Matt
Clark of Benton, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Marilyn Kay Marsh.
Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until time of the funeral service
at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at the Nunnelee Funeral
Chapel.
Cremation followed.
Arrangements under the direction of the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel.
