Betty grew up in Dillard, Missouri and St. Louis, Missouri. She attended Lower Viburnum, Dillard, Cherryville and St. Louis Schools. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1958. She earned her RN from Missouri Baptist School of Nursing in 1961. She honorably served her country in the United State Navy. She attended college at Mineral Area and Southeast Missouri State University earning degrees in English, History, Historical Preservation and Inter Discipilnary Studies. On October 1, 1974 she married Thomas Anderson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Delmar and Muriel (Willhite) Turnbough; sister, Beverly Hadley; and brother, Berlie Turnbough. Kenneth Franklin Fiebelman Kenneth Franklin Fiebelman was born on December 19, 1941 in St. Louis, Missouri to Lawrence and Cynthia (Warfel) Fiebelman and passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2017. Ken grew up on the family farm at Howes Mill, Missouri. He attended the one-room school at Howes Mill for eight years. He attended Cherryville High School and graduated from the Salem High School in 1959. He graduated from the University of Missouri, Columbia in 1963 with a bachelor's degree. He taught business and Missouri History in the St. Clair High School for 3 years and at the Salem High School for 18 years. He promoted Missouri tourism for the Meramec Caverns, traveling over several states. He attended the Howes Mill Union Church and was baptized in the Huzzah Creek at Boss, Missouri while attending the Boss Assembly of God Church. He was a member of the Salem Masonic and Odd Fellow Lodges for over 50 years. He was also a member of the Shriners and the Scottish Rites of St. Louis, Missouri. For many years he was on the Home Care Advisory Board of the Salem Memorial Hospital and member of the Missouri State Teachers Association. He and his brother, Gary, maintained the family century farm. He had been a life-long member of the Dent County Cattleman's Association, recipient of the Friend of Agriculture Award by the Missouri Farm Bureau and was involved with the improvements on the Wurdack Farms at Cook Station, Missouri. He was elected to the Missouri House of Representatives and served six consecutive terms beginning in 1984. He served as chairman of the Missouri House Mining committee and on the agricultural and education committees. He was the author of the bill that made the fiddle the official instrument of Missouri. He also authored the bill that made Highway 19 designated as the first Missouri Scenic and Historical State Route. He served on the transportation committee and was instrumental in getting the renovation of Highway 72 from Salem to Rolla started and part of this highway has been named in honor of him. He was also a member of the Tourism Committee and has been very active in promoting tourism for the Ozark Heritage Region. He is responsible for naming the region, Ozark Heritage, as he gave this name to the Dent County History books starting in 1978. He was the founder and first president of the Dent County Historical Society and remained an active member and was a life-long member of the Dent County Museum board. He is responsible for the Ozark Heritage History books. He started collecting Ozark memorabilia when he was a teenager and for over 50 years he has been an avid collector and has spent the last 30 years preserving the history and genealogy of the Ozark Heritage region by collecting items of the local interest and operating the Ozark Heritage Center in Salem, Missouri. He was a life-long member of the Missouri Historical Society in Columbia and a member of the Crawford and Phelps County Historical Society. He has been involved with the perpetual care of the rural area cemeteries of the Ozarks and was an original director of the ABC Memorial Foundation for the preservation of rural area cemeteries. He served as treasurer for this foundation and was secretary for the Boss and Stone Hill cemeteries perpetual care funds. He was active in the business community and an active member in the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce for around 50 years where he has received many honors and awards including the Outstanding Citizen Award. He was a member of the Salem Community Betterment Association and received the Gift of Time Honor Roll Award for outstanding volunteer services. He has spent his life preserving the history and genealogy. He is survived by Gary and Barbara Fiebelman, Laura Fiebelman Parker, Victoria Fiebelman Lowe and husband David Lowe, Lauren Spicer, Braxton Parker, Jacob Kennison Parker, Slayton Parker; caregiver, Eunice Williams; other relatives and friends. Hazel Susan Williams Miller Hazel Susan Williams Miller of Sullivan, Missouri was born in Bourbon, Missouri on September 13, 1922 to Charles Evert and Bertha May Cahill (nee Bacon) and passed away on December 30, 2016 at the age of 94 years, 3 months and 17 days. On September 16, 1939 she married William Leroy Williams, known to all as Leroy. In 1984 she married Charles Miller. Hazel was a Christian of the Baptist faith, believing in the Lord as her Savior. She had various jobs during her working years, having worked as a clerk and nurses' assistant. She had worked at Sunset Nursing Home in Union, Missouri for about 10 years. Hazel loved people and while living in the St. Clair area, had been a member of the St. Clair Elks Lodge 2651. After moving to Sullivan, Missouri, she was active in the Sullivan Eagles Lodge. She also enjoyed going to the Sullivan Senior Center, where she enjoyed fellowshipping and playing cards with her friends. One of Hazel's favorite pastimes during her younger years was dancing and she was a very talented dancer. She could tap dance and often entertained her family by clogging. In more recent years, Hazel enjoyed crocheting and quilting and loved going to play Bingo. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Bertha Cahill; husbands, Leroy Williams and Charles Miller; one infant son, William L. Williams, Jr.; brothers, Steve Cahill, Arthur Cahill and Walter Cahill; and three sisters, Mamie Nappier, Helen Jones and Elsie Cox. Sanders of Granite City, Illinois was born June 1, 1926 in Steelville, Missouri to Herkly and Bertha Mae (Faulkner) Sanders and passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at the age of 90 years. He married Alene Sanders in October of 1973. He retired from Granite City Steel after over 40 years of dedicated service as a switchman. The United States Navy veteran proudly served his country during World War II. He was a dedicated and faithful member of Faith Baptist Church in Granite City, Illinois for over 50 years. He was raised in a very musically gifted family and loved playing many instruments and singing. He enjoyed his days of wood carving and widdling, tending to his garden, fishing and reading his Bible. He loved the outdoors and cherished his family visits down in Steelville, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alene on November 24, 2009; his parents, Herkly and Bertha Sanders; three brothers, Vernon Sanders, James "Bud" Sanders and J.T. Edith Marie Thompson Edith Marie Thompson (nee Mincher) of Viburnum, Missouri was born July 15, 1920 to John and Adie (Tinker) Mincher and passed away January 2, 2017 at the age of 96 years. Edith married Frankie Ralph Thompson on August 6, 1938 and was married almost 65 years before he passed in January of 2003. She led an active life as a homemaker and working on the family farm doing such things as building fences, milking cows, pitching hay and raising their children. She briefly worked at Shriner's Children's Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri in the kitchen at Eagle Hurst Ranch and as a caregiver for the elderly. She also was an accomplished horse rider and rode horses at horse shows, even winning ribbons. She was a fan of the St. Louis baseball Cardinals and enjoyed doing word-search puzzles in her later years. She was a beloved member of Viburnum Christian Church.
