Mary Dione Dimond Auchly
Mary Dione Auchly of rural Montgomery City, Missouri was born August 30, 1936
in St. Louis, Missouri to William Byrne and Arline Elizabeth Muckerman Dimond
and passed away Friday, January 7, 2011 at the Audrain Medical Center in
Mexico, Missouri at the age of 74 years.
Dione graduated from Ladue High School in St. Louis County, Missouri. She
attended William Woods College before working at St. John’s Mercy Hospital as
an accountant.
On August 12, 1967 she married William Joseph Auchly in St. Louis, Missouri.
She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Montgomery City,
Missouri. She was a charter member of the ladies auxiliary of the Knights of
Columbus and taught CCD classes at the Church.
She worked many years as a photographer and contributing writer for the
Montgomery Standard. She also worked as a babysitter at First Baptist Church.
Through the years she volunteered in many ways working with the 4-H,
Immaculate Conception Home and School and the PTA at all the local schools.
Dione and Bill hosted many school field trips to the Auchly family farm. She
also helped with the Montgomery County Fair Run (MOCOFA Run) and the local
Relay for Life events. She was also an avid card writer for nearly every
holiday event or occasion.
She also supplied many Montgomery County High School football teams with
chocolate chip cookies, always promising more “after the next win.” Little
did she know when she made that promise, just how good the football team was
going to be for the next several years, or how many cookies they could eat.
She made approximately 60 dozen cookies each Monday of football season for
nearly three years.
Sheis survived by her husband, William J. Auchly of the home; three children,
Christopher Marcus Auchly of Festus, Missouri, Michael Bryne Auchly of
Montgomery City, Missouri and Elizabeth Anne Auchly of Cuba, Missouri; three
brothers and two sisters, Bill Dimond of St. Louis, Missouri, Paul Dimond and
wife Adrienne of Kirkwood, Missouri, Cella Kirchner and husband Russ of Kokomo,
Indiana, Mary Roberts and husband James of Webster Groves, Missouri and Tom
Dimond of Sunset Hills, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Sunday, January 9, 2011 from 3-7 p.m. at the Schlanker
Funeral Home in Montgomery City, Missouri with prayer service at 7 p.m.
A funeral mass was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 10, 2011 at the
Immaculate Conception Church in Montgomery City, Missouri with Reverend
Frank Bussmann officiating.
Casket bearers were John Fisher, Les Smith, Bob Merz, Bill Cobb, Harold
Clark and Wayne Korte.
Interment was at the St. Mary’s Cemetery west of Montgomery City,
Missouri.

Edgar “Joker” Conaway
Edgar “Joker” Conaway of Steelville, Missouri was born on Tuesday,
September 18, 1928 in Cook Station, Missouri to Charles R. and Annie Burle
Conaway and passed away at Gibbs Care Center on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at
the age of 82 years, 3 months and 21 days.
Joker married Mary Jane Doss on December 2, 1950 and to this union three
sons were born.
He worked for 39 years and retired from Brown Shoe Company, Steelville,
Missouri. He was a member of the Steelville Assembly of God Church where he
was a bus driver, usher and active in the men’s fellowship. After retirement,
he mowed lawns for folks and worked at Chaumiere farms. His hobbies were
hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Annie Conaway; infant
son, David Lynn Conaway; brother, Edward Conaway; sisters, Zelma (Jude)
Eickhorst and Velma (Joe) Veach; brother-in-law, Carl Benton; father-in-law,
Kenneth Doss, Sr. and mother-in-law, Edith Doss.
He is survived by his wife Mary Jane; sons, James E. Conaway of Lima, Ohio
and Gary Lee (Faye) Conaway of Salem, Missouri; sisters, Elizabeth Benton of
Cook Station, Missouri and Ruth (Frank) Greer of Cedar Knowles, New Jersey;
brother-in-law, Kenneth (Carol) Doss of Bluffton, Ohio; sister-in-law, Dovie
Conaway of Steelville, Missouri; grandchildren, Kathryn of Cuba, Missouri and
Laura Jane of Chacon, New Mexico; great grandchild, Kynlee of Cuba, Missouri;

Donald F. Coplin, Sr.
Donald F. Coplin, Sr. of Rolla, Missouri was born on Monday, August 17, 1942
in Davisville, Missouri to Floyd and Pearl Coplin and passed away at Phelps
County Regional Medical Center, Rolla, Missouri on Wednesday, January 5, 2011
at the age of 68 years, 4 months and 19 days.
Donald served his country honorably in the United States Army.
He married Betty Irene Chandler on June 15, 1968 at the Coffee Community
Church.
He was a mechanic and handyman more than 30 years in Steelville, Missouri.
His hobbies were hunting and fishing. He adored his family especially his
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Pearl Coplin and wife,
Betty.
He is survived by his sons, Donald F. (Amanda) Coplin, Jr. of Vichy,
Missouri and Randy (Stefvaney) Hubert of Rolla, Missouri; brothers and
sisters, Herbert (Dodie) Coplin and Janet Ruth Coplin of Pevely, Missouri,

Hugo Estis Doss
Hugo Estis Doss of Potosi, Missouri was born on September 20, 1923 at
Granite City, Illinois to Dewy and Katherine (Merritt) Doss and passed away
December 29, 2010 at the Potosi Manor Nursing at the age of 87 years,
3 months and 9 days.
Hugo was united in marriage to Alberta Volner on July 27, 1946 and six
children were born.
Hugo was a member of the General Baptist Church of Potosi and was an
Ordained Baptist minister. He served in the United States Army from
February 22, 1943 to July 46, 1944.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewy and Katherine Doss; his wife,
Alberta Doss; grandson, Darrell Doss; nephew, Jimmy Lahmann; son-in-law,
Roger Skiles; brothers-in-law, Jackie Volner, Edward Volner, Bud Cooper and
Leroy Volner and Carl Saunders.
He is survived by three sons, Gary Doss and wife Yvonne of Bowling Green,
Kentucky, Dennis Doss and wife Janet of Waynesville, Missouri and Jerry Doss
and wife Jessica of Steelville, Missouri; three daughters, Karen Skiles of
Old Mines, Missouri, Sandy Parker and husband Carl of St. Clair, Missouri and
Wilma Wideman and husband David of Park Hills, Missouri; sister, Delma McMahon
of Potosi, Missouri; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; other relatives
and friends.
Funeral services were conducted on Friday, December 31, 2010 at 11 a.m. at
the DeClue Chapel with Rev. Carl Parker and Rev. Ardell Gray officiating.
Pallbearers were Tim Glore, Jerret Richardson, David McCallum, Bo Thompson,
Richard Shafer and Pat Smith.
Interment and final prayers were held at Redbud Memorial Gardens.

Chad August Erxleben
Chad August Erxleben of Bourbon, Missouri was born at Sullivan, Missouri
on August 10, 1973 to Steven and Maggie (Harms) Erxleben and passed away
Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at the age of 37 years.
He was a 1991 graduate of Sullivan High School and at the present time was
an apprentice electrician for J&F Electric in St. Louis.
On May 30, 1998 he was united in marriage to April Hughey and to this
marriage two children were born.
Chad and April made their home in Bourbon after their marriage and attended
Temple Baptist Church.
Chad loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time
with his family.
He is survived by his wife, April, of the family home; one son, Ely Erxleben
and a daughter, Emily Erxleben, both of the family home; his parents, Steve
and Maggie Erxleben of Sullivan, Missouri; one brother, Seth Erxleben of
Bloomfield, Indiana; a sister, Kim Erxleben of Sullivan, Missouri;
parents-in-law, Anthony and Sheriann Hughey of Sullivan, Missouri; two
nieces, Kelsey and Katie; two nephews, Justin and Kyle; other relatives
and friends.
Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, January 7, 2011 at the
Southside Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 8, 2011
from Temple Baptist Church in Sullivan with Pastor G. Scott Perry

Interment was in the Oddfellows Memorial Cemetery.

Rose Mary Henson
Rose Mary Henson (Wisdom) was born on May 17, 1943 to Clarence E. and Mary
Ellen Wisdom and passed away December 29, 2010 at the Pershing Memorial
Hospital in Brookfield, Missouri at the age of 67 years.
Rose was a member of the Missouri League of Nursing Home Administrators. She
was the administrator of Life Care Center in Brookfield and later
administrator of Moberly Nursing and Rehab Center in Moberly Missouri for
several years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence E. and Mary Ellen Wisdom;
her husband, Larry R. Henson; four brothers, Wesley Ray Wisdom, Earl Wayne
Wisdom, Clarence E. (Gene) Wisdom and Robert (Bob) Sidney Wisdom.
She is survived by one daughter, Christina Frazier and husband David of
Browning, Missouri; one step daughter, Sherry Cantrell and husband Chuck
of Vichy, Missouri; two grandsons, Justin Roger Frazier and Jeremy Lee
Frazier, both of Browning, Missouri; one step granddaughter, Cassidy Cantrell
of Vichy, Missouri; two sisters, Dolly Mounce and husband Robert and Betty
Rinehart and husband Jesse both of St. James, Missouri one sister-in-law,
Dorothy Wisdom of St. James, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Funeral service was held, December 31, 2010 at the Wright-Baker-Hill
Funeral Home in Brookfield, Missouri with Jason Smith officiating. Burial
was in the Knifong Cemetery, Browning, Missouri.
Joe M. Johnson
Joe M. Johnson, son of Martin and Lucille Johnson, was born in Louisville,
Kentucky, and passed away Friday evening, December 24, 2010 in Tucson,
Arizona at the age of 74 years.
After graduating from Truman State University in northeast Missouri, Joe
spent four years coaching and teaching high school in Cuba and Steelville,
Missouri, before moving to Palatine, Illinois, near Chicago.
Coach Johnson established a successful track program over the course of
30 years at Palatine High School. He earned a Master Degree in Education,
and was inducted into the Palatine High School Athletic Hall of Fame and
into the Illinois Track and Cross Country Coaches’ Hall of Fame. A dedicated
and decorated runner himself, Coach Johnson completed the Boston Marathon
and has countless medals to memorialize his personal victories around the
country.
In 1992, Coach Johnson retired to Tucson, Arizona, with wife, Andrea Meskan
Johnson. In 2003, Andrea passed away. He found peace in running, sports,
travel, church philanthropy and his companion, Patricia (Trish) Gizzard.
He is survived by his daughter, Jenny Cope Warden; her husband Eric; three
grandchildren; his brothers-in-law, Bill and Jeff Meskan; companion Trish;
other relatives and friends.
Services were January 3, 2011, at Evergreen Mortuary, Tucson, Arizona, with
burial in the Evergreen Cemetery.

Lola Jewell Johnson
Lola Jewell Johnson of St. James, Missouri was born on July 28, 1939 in
Paris, Arkansas to Mark and Pauline (Albritton) Cranfill and passed away at
the Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, Missouri on Tuesday,
January 4, 2011 at the age of 71 years, 5 months and 7 days.
Lola was united in marriage to Stanley D. Johnson in Reno, Nevada on
June 15, 1953.
She was preceded in death are her parents, Mark and Pauline Cranfill; two
sons, Louis Dean and John Anthony Johnson; one daughter, Wilma Louise Lewis;
one grandson, Rodney Lewis; one brother, Carmen Cranfill and two sisters,
Marilyn and Ima.
She is survived by her husband, Stanley Dean Johnson of St. James, Missouri;
five sons, Huey Lee Johnson and wife Kim, Stanley Ellis Johnson, James
Johnson and wife Connie, William Cleveland Johnson and wife Katie, all of
St. James, Missouri, Robert Yowell Johnson and wife Deana of Boston,
Massachusetts; one daughter, Cynthia Pauline LeClair and husband Ron of
Rolla, Missouri; 19 grandchildren many great grandchildren and family in
California; other relatives and friends.

Wilma Louise Lewis
Wilma Louise (Johnson) Lewis was born on December 18, 1960 in St. Louis,
Missouri to Stanley and Lola Johnson and passed away at her home in
St. James, Missouri on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at the age of 50 years and
18 days.
Wilma attended many of the churches in the area. She was a member of the
Church of Christ in St. James, Missouri. She was a true believer in faith
and loved Jesus Christ. She enjoyed the bible study and going to see her
favorite pastor, David Crank of Faith Church in Fenton, Missouri.
Wilma had a positive outlook on life. She enjoyed spending time with her
grandkids, shooting pool, taking pictures, going to the river and was a
yard sale regular. She just didn’t shop for bargains; she shopped for
everyone she knew. She really enjoyed getting together with family and
friends to take pictures of special events, birthdays, BBQ’s or just a
good time. She was a very giving person who donated to a lot of (children)
charities and helped anyone in need.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lola Johnson; son, Rodney Lewis;
two brothers, Louis and John Johnson and grandparents.
She is survived by one son, Rick and wife Trea of Caseyville, Illinois;
father, Stanley Johnson of St. James, Missouri; brothers, Lee Johnson and
wife Kim, Ellis Johnson, Bill Johnson and wife Katie, James Johnson and
wife Connie, all of St. James, Missouri, Bob Johnson and wife Deana of

Ethel Mae Price
Ethel Mae Price of Rolla, Missouri was born July 28, 1936 in Oak Hill,
Missouri to Oscar and Mary Ann (Cannady) Ryerson and passed away Saturday,
January 1, 2011 at the age of 74 years.
Ethel enjoyed canning, growing flowers, long drives and gospel music
singings. She was a professed Christian all of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Mary Ann Ryerson; her
husband, Dow Price; two daughters, Linda and Tonya; two sons, Ricky and
David; a sister, Earlene Teal and brother, Earl Ryerson.
She is survived by two sons, DeWayne Price and wife Carolyn of Doolittle,
Missouri and Leon Price and wife Sandy of Belle, Missouri; 13 grandchildren;
18 great grandchildren; brothers, Ralph Ryerson and wife Molly of Fulton,
Missouri and Norman Ryerson and wife Bonnie of Newburg, Missouri; a sister,

Mary Louise Ruwwe
Mary Louise Ruwwe of Sullivan, Missouri was born on November 19, 1924 at
New Rochelle, New York to Erskin and Alice (O’Leary) Van Houten and passed
away on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at the age of 86 years.
Mary Lou, as she was known by her family and friends, was employed as a
fashion model in her teen years, in the clothing industry in New York.
She later met and married Clarence Miller and to this union four sons were
born.
Because of her husband’s career in the U.S. Air Force, the family lived in
various places throughout the country. In 1959, they purchased acreage in
the Cuba, Missouri area as retirement property. The couple later divorced
and in 1972, Mary Lou built a home in Cuba and ran a cosmetology salon from
her residence. She also obtained her realtors license and worked for Century
21 in Cuba.
After a time, she met Herbert Ruwwe and later married. Together they farmed
on his property near Sullivan, Missouri.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Herbert; son, Mark Andrew;
brother, Van Van Houten and three sisters, Doris Van Houten, Alice Van
Houten and Barbara Miller.
She is survived by three sons, Monte Miller of Mesa, Arizona, Jeff Miller
ofLouisville, Kentucky and Mike Miller of Cuba, Missouri; three grand-
children; seven great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 4:30-8 p.m. on Sunday, January 2, 2011 at the Eaton
Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri and on Monday from 10:30 a.m. until time
of service at noon at Old Argo Presbyterian Church.
Funeral services were conducted at noon on Monday, January 3, 2011 at Old
Argo Presbyterian Church with Pastor Rob Cardwell officiating.
Interment was in the Old Argo Cemetery.

Lewis (Buck) L. Shackelford
Lewis (Buck) L. Shackelford of St. James, Missouri was born on
September 10, 1931 in Marceline, Missouri to Earnest and Violet Marie
(Dorrel) Shackelford and passed away on January 6, 2011 at the age of
79 years, 3 months and 27 days.
Buck was life-long resident of Missouri. He and his wife Katherine were
owners and operators of Buck’s Lodge canoe rental in St. James for 30 years.
He also worked for the James Foundation and St. James Public Schools. He
was affiliated with the St. James JayCee’s and hosted their meetings at the
lodge for many years. He served in United States Army. Buck loved to read,
he loved history, westerns and Sunday football and sports but most of all he
loved his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Violet Shackelford;
one daughter, Susan Diane Shackelford; two brothers, Ernestine Shackelford
and James Shackelford and one sister, Donna Jean Murry.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine (Gargus) Shackelford of St. James,
Missouri; three sons, Ernest Shackelford of Urbana, Missouri, Dale Shackelford
of St. James, Missouri and Lewis (Tiger) Shackelford and wife Mary of
Jefferson City, Missouri; two daughters, Janet Gruver and husband Jimmy of
St. James, Missouri and Patricia Delaschmitt of Stover, Missouri; grand-
children, Alicia Ventura, Adam Shackelford, Sara and Steve Green, Katie
Shackelford, Blake Shackelford, Amy and David Parrott, Josh and Melissa

Charles Leo Waidmann
Charles Leo “Charlie” Waidmann of Cuba was born to George and Margaret
(Bechter) Waidmann on October 4, 1923 in Bourbon, Missouri and passed away
Monday, January 3, 2011 in Cuba, Missouri at the age of 87 years.
Charlie was united in marriage to Patricia Bogue on November 29, 1952 in
Bourbon, Missouri and to this union one son was born.
Charlie was co-owner of Gerald Lumber Company, Gerald, Missouri with his
brother Herman and wife Edna Waidmann. He later he co-owned the Sears
Catalog and General Store in Van Buren, Missouri with his sister Rosemary
and husband Maurice Brown.
He honorably served his country in U.S. Navy during WWII. In his spare time
he enjoyed fishing, food, playing pinochle at the Cuba Senior Center,
visiting the Gun Shop and spending time with Lawrence Bridgemann.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Margaret Waidmann;
sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Menz and Mildred Bogue; brother-in-law, John
Menz; other relatives and friends.
He is survived by his son, Randy and wife Dawn Waidmann of Cuba, Missouri;
two step-grandsons, William Bloomner, Jr. and Jarred Bloomner of Sullivan,
Missouri; one brother, Herman and wife Edna Waidmann of Gerald, Missouri;
one sister, Rosemary and husband Maurice Brown of Van Buren, Missouri;
brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Richard Bogue of Cuba, Missouri, Jerry

Fannie Marie Ware
Fannie Marie Ware, nee Lea, of Cherryville, Missouri was born
December 5, 1923 at Cherryville, Missouri to Eddie and Pearl (Collier) Lea
and passed away Monday, January 3, 2011 at Cuba Manor, Cuba, Missouri at
the age of 87 years.
On April 1, 1942 in Steelville, she was united in marriage to Franklin
Leo Ware.
For many years, Fannie took care of her family by sewing, quilting,
gardening and cooking. In later years with her spare time, she enjoyed
working puzzles and playing “Aggravation.” Most of all she loved seeing
her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Pearl Lea; her husband
Franklin Ware on April 2, 2001; one son, Jessie Leonard Ware; two brothers,
Loyd Lea and Harold Lea; and four sisters, Gladys Green and husband Floyd,
Stella Lea and infants.
She is survived by her four sons, Curtis Leo Ware and wife Grace and Loyd
Wayne Ware and wife Jackie, all of Cherryville, Missouri, William “Bill”
Franklin Ware and wife Marilyn and Virvine George Ware, all of Steelville,
Missouri; one daughter, Judy Marie Loveless of Cuba, Missouri; one brother,
Cecil Pyatt and wife Mildred of Cuba, Missouri; one sister Lorene Martin and
husband Albert of Steelville, Missouri; 19 grandchildren, 39 great
grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at the Britton-
Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Pastor Don Martin
officiating. Memories were shared by daughter-in-law, Jackie Ware. Special
music of “I Am Weary,” “The Master’s Garden,” “Take Me Over to Jordan” and
“Wagon Tracks” was played.
Committal prayer and burial were in the Delhi Cemetery at Cuba, Missouri.
Casket bearers were Shannon Ware, Chance Reeves, Curtis Lee Ware, Rodney Ware,
Travis Ware and Randy Ware. Honorary casket bearers were Cody Ware, Scot Ware,
Mike Ware, Shawn Ware, Jeffrey Ware, Robbie Ware and Clayton Reeves.
Arrangements under the direction of the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of
Steelville, Missouri.
Paul Matthew Young
Paul Matthew Young of Steelville, Missouri was born on Monday, July 17, 1978
in Rolla, Missouri to Lee R. Young and Eula Reeves Young and passed away on
Friday, January 7, 2011 at the age of 32 years, 5 months and 21 days.
He worked for 10 years at Mar-Bal Inc. at Cuba, Missouri as a machine
operator. His hobbies were airbrush painting and hanging out with friends.
He loved his family and dog Seven.
He is survived by his parents, Lee and Eula Young; sisters, Denese Young
of Licking, Missouri and Betsey Young of St. Clair, Missouri; grandmother,
Pansy Young of Steelville, Missouri; aunts and uncles, Dorothy Abney of
Cuba, Missouri, Mabel (Dr. Joseph) Swink of Farmington, Missouri, Rosemary
(Jim) Huck of Rolla, Missouri, Georgia Garms, Alice Whaley, Jim (Geneva)
Young, Robert Young, Grace (Curt) Ware and Dale Young, all of Steelville,
Missouri and Glenn (Barb) Young of Cuba, Missouri; other relatives and
friends.
Visitation was Monday, January 10, 2011 from 5-8 p.m. at the Hutson Funeral
Home, Steelville, Missouri. Funeral service was at 11 a.m. Tuesday,
January 11, 2011 at the Hutson Funeral Chapel, Steelville, Missouri with
Pastor Jerry Beers officiating. Burial was at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery,
Steelville, Missouri.

Missouri.
