Richard was self-employed Antique Dealer, he enjoyed trading and selling antiques. He also formerly owned and operated the Leasburg Mercantile Store in Leasburg and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. In his spare time he enjoyed playing cards and being an avid Star Trek Fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Ann Asplin; grandmother, Madeline Bandy; other relatives and friends. Edith was united in marriage to William Temple Beasley on July 23, 1953 in St. Louis, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred Jess and Effie Chilton; her husband, William Temple Beasley on January 16, 1980; five brothers, Bill, Alfred, Everett, Bob and Virgil Chilton and one sister, Sara Sohm. Therese graduated high school at Joseph Academy in Niles, Illinois in June of 1986. She achieved 60 credit hours of study at community colleges of Chicago, receiving a certificate in computer hardware and one in computer software. Therese enjoyed visiting with friends, long walks and Bible studies. She attended services at the Calvary Apostolic Church and the First Church of God. She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Robert George Jensen. She is survived by her father, William K. Berkson; mother, Inez M. She was preceded in death by her father, Walbridge Eyberg Sr. and two brothers, Walbridge Eyberg Jr. and James Eyberg. Delano of Honolulu, Hawaii and New York, New York was born in Rolla, Missouri on May 3, 1953 to Jonathan and Jane Delano and passed away on January 6, 2010 in Mumbai, India. He was a 1971 graduate of St. James High School. He graduated from Principia College in 1975 with a degree in art history. At the time of his passing, he was pursuing a graduate degree in public administration from NYU-Wagner. In 1979 James made his home in Honolulu and started what was to become a very successful coffee company. Lion Coffee was among the first companies in the world to roast and market a gourmet coffee. The company sold to Superior Coffee in 1999. James was a lifelong supporter of the arts and was a pillar in the Honolulu art community. He and Lion Coffee sponsored a variety of activities including the annual Honolulu Film Series and provided space in which local artists could produce and display their works. He loved to travel and did so frequently for business, pleasure and philanthropic reasons. He is survived by his partner, Kimberely Rector of New York and New Haven, Connecticut; brother and sister-in-law, Jay and Marsha Delano of St. James, Missouri; nephew, Jonathan Delano; other relatives and friends. Plans are being made to scatter his ashes off the coast of Hawaii later this year. Horace Wilgus “Pop” Copeland Horace Wilgus Copeland was born on December 15, 1929 to Harvey and Pearl (Nipper) Copeland and passed away January 4, 2010 at the age of 80 years. He spent his life as a mechanic and built his first car from scrap parts at the age of 12. He was baptized at the age of 13 at Walcott Baptist Church in Walcott, Arkansas. His Grandpa Lee called him “the human calculator” due to his ability to add numbers in his head quicker than many could on paper. He graduated from high school in 1948. Horace was married to Olive Jean for 25 years and to this union nine children were born. Through this time he spent a couple of years in St. Louis working for General Motors in Flint, Michigan. He also owned a garage in Arkansas and worked for several months in California. He then spent several years in Breckenridge, Missouri. During that time he owned a business that was a combination garage, gas station, towing service and an ambulance service. Horace moved to St. James in 1978 to work as the fleet mechanic at Boy’s Town of Missouri where he worked until his retirement in 1992. He enjoyed participating in the Boy’s Town wagon trains. While employed at Boy’s Town, the boys fondly named him “Pop” and the name stuck. Horace married Irene Walker on May 21, 1983 and three step children entered his life. A daughter Heidi joined this union. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Pearl Copeland; three brothers, Bud, Archie and Howard; one sister, Gusty and one son, Michael. Vera Bernice Delashmit Vera Bernice Delashmit, of Bourbon, Missouri, was born on September 28, 1926, in Risco, Missouri to George Washington and Allie Enora Hammons Bohannon and passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at the age of 83 years. She was raised near Malden and lived for most of her youth across from the grade school. As a young child, she along with her brothers and sisters picked cotton on their 350-acre cotton farm until the family sold the farm and moved to the East St. Louis area. She married Navy Lt. George Delashmit on March 24, 1945, in Fallon, Nevada. They lived in Rolla, Missouri for several years with Bernice working for the telephone company. In 1955, they moved to Quincy, Illinois where they lived until 1994. There they raised two children. They moved to Bourbon, Missouri in 2001. Bernice was very athletic, and enjoyed playing golf and square dancing with her husband. She was employed by State Street Store for several years. Bernice was an accomplished seamstress and also loved to knit and crochet. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Allie Bohannon; five brothers; one sister and a daughter, Tami Sue Delashmit-Fisher. Judith Ann Hedenberg Judith Ann Hedenberg of St. James, Missouri was born on April 16, 1941 in Decatur, Illinois to Harold and Ann (Strange) Melhorn and passed away at her home on Saturday, January 6, 2010. She was 68 years, 8 months and 21 days of age. She grew up in Decatur and lived there her whole life until about age 21 or 22. She married Bill Hedenberg in June of 1961. Judy graduated from high school in Decatur, Illinois and she attended Milliken University in Decatur for one or two years before she married. Judy moved around a lot early in life with her former husband, Bill. She lived in Minneapolis around 1970 for many years before moving to St. James. Judy worked as a nurse’s aid, bookkeeper at a publishing company near Minneapolis; cost estimating at the advertising firm Campbell-Mithun in Minneapolis; real estate agent and a waitress at a local restaurant in town. When her children were young she was the only mom on the block to get out and play with the neighborhood kids in a game of kickball or softball. She would yell to her daughter from the bleachers and acted as her personal cheerleader. Judy was a room mother; helped with the school holiday parties. Judy and Bill bought a boat and the family would go on boating, camping fishing trips together. Judy loved to visit her daughter in Chicago and visit the historical villages, the racetrack, the shops and crafts shops, the vintage, antique shops and the gourmet shops. Judy wanted to go see Oprah Winfrey show so in 2009, her daughter got tickets for Judy’s 68th birthday and it was on the day that they went to the show. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Ann (Strange) Melhorn; other relatives and friends. She is survived by one daughter, Sherry Gilmore of Chicago, Illinois and one son, Dennis Eugene Hedenberg of Maui, Hawaii. Lee was united in marriage to the former Georgia Evans on June 10, 1963, and to this union three daughters were born. Lee served his country in the United States Navy where he served for 20 years. After his retirement in 1981 they moved their family back to St. James. In 1990 they moved into Georgia’s childhood home. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, attending bull riding events and time spent with family and friends. Lee had a great sense of humor, he was always ready with a joke or to tease, anything to get a laugh. Doris was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking; one of her favorites to make was Christmas cookies for family and friends. She had a great sense of humor, she enjoyed watching ice skating and she loved to dance. When her health permitted she loved to travel; her greatest pleasure in life was the time she spent with her family. Judith Ann Marie McGowan Judith Ann Marie McGowan passed away on December 24, 2009 at the Golden Living Center in St. James, Missouri. Judith was 65 years and 7 months of age. She passed away on Friday, January 1, 2010 at the age of 85 years. Her first marriage was to Jesse Long in 1954. She worked as a switchboard operator for the city of Webster Groves, Missouri. She later became employed as a switchboard operator at Barnes Hospital and then at the New Era Shirt Company. Upon the death of her husband, she moved to Sullivan in 1978 where she was later united in marriage to Payne McMurphy. Together they managed the Sullivan Homes and was also a dispatcher for the Sullivan Police Department. After Payne’s death she was married to Fred Palmer and made her home in Cuba, Missouri. She always thought of others first and was known as a hard worker. She was religious and a devoted Christian who enjoyed church work and was a former member of the Delphi Singers. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Jesse, Payne and Fred; son-in-law, Don Rose Sr. and brother, Arless Roberts. He honorably served his country during WWII with the U.S. Navy earning the American Defense ribbon and the Victory Medal. After his discharge he worked for the Proctor Counter Company. Later he worked for the Fashion Shoe Company in Sullivan and retired from there after 20 years as a machine repairman. He enjoyed music and played the guitar and fiddle. He was an accomplished maker of guitars and fiddles, some of which are in use today. Donald was a member of the New Testament Baptist Church of Sullivan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; two brothers in infancy plus four other brothers, Elzie, Cecil, Eugene and Floyd Pennock and two sisters, Dorothy Summers and Lola Richards. Robinson of Cuba, Missouri was born in Warsaw, New York on February 13, 1927 to Leo and Grace Robinson and passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, Missouri at the age of 82 years. He retired from Yellow Freight Systems in 1990 and moved to Missouri where he attended Calvary Assembly of God Church in Cuba, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Grace Robinson; two sisters, Emma and Virginia; two brothers, Richard and Jim; one daughter, Janice Wilson and one son, Dennis Robinson. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Robinson of Cuba, Missouri; three sons, Donald Robinson of Elma, New York, Robert Robinson of London, Ohio and Douglas Robinson of Columbus, Ohio; two step-sons, Daniel Hagston of Granite City, Illinios and Mark Hagston of Fayetteville, North Carolina; three daughters, Wanda Buhholz of Houghton, New York, Sharon Scalf and Paula Robinson of Columbus, Ohio; 23 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. David donated his body to St. Louis University, St. Louis, Missouri. June Artie Rohrer June Artie Rohrer nee Souders was born in Gerald, Missouri on June 28, 1917 to Arthur and Dolly Souders and passed away on December 31, 2009 at the age of 92. June was married to Jacob Lawrence Rohrer for nearly 60 years, residing mainly at the family farm on Rohrer Road west of Bourbon, Missouri. On that farm she managed a large garden, raised a family and gave Lawrence much support on the dairy farm, then later worked with him when he was the county assessor. Her involvement in the Methodist Church gave her much joy and a lifetime of friendships. She was a long standing member of the Stringtown Home Ecomonics Club and a weekly volunteer at the Bourbon Christian Thrift store. June had a passion for music that she shared with her family, playing the piano and inspiring her children and grandchildren to play music as well. She loved animals, enjoying her cats and dogs and riding horses. She also had many talents in the arts. When the farm work became too much, June and Lawrence moved to a new house on the old Rohrer farm, next to the Bourbon High School. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jacob Lawrence Rohrer; and her twin brother, Art Souders. She is survived by four children, Janet Kruse and husband Fred, Jay Rohrer and wife Linda, Gene Rohrer and wife Dee and Rex Rohrer and wife Lorian; 10 grandchildren, Melissa, Melanie, Edward, Jacob, Kathy, Jeff, Terry, Jennifer, Sage and Kai; 15 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Opal Rohrer, Doris Rohrer, Zelma Hill and Lois Souders; other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 from the First United Methodist Church of Bourbon with Reverend Judy Jeffery officiating. Milton Frederick Yeary Milton Frederick Yeary of Steelville, Missouri was born July 21, 1934 in Wesco, Missouri to Milton B. and Frances E. (Hertlein) Yeary and passed away Sunday, January 3, 2010 at the age of 75 years. He was married to Charlotte Tapperson in 1955 and to this union six children were born. In 2004, he was married to Carol Ann Rhodes. From childhood Milt enjoyed the simple pleasures of growing up on a farm, loved by family and friends. The country school and Steelville High School were followed by four years at Missouri University in Columbia, Missouri where he received his degree in Animal Husbandry. Milt’s activities in college included the University Livestock Judging Team. In 1954-55 the team competing in the American Royal in Kansas City, the Chicago Livestock Show, and an important show in Denver, Colorado. After college and marriage, Milt came back to Crawford County and used the land where he grew up as his base. He started his career in agriculture by representing the National Stockyards in Illinois. At the same time he partnered with his parents in the farm that was to become Yeary Farms. A few years later, Milt became manager of Farmer’s Production Credit Association with offices in Rolla, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his father, Milton B. Yeary and one son, Matthew Christopher Yeary. He is survived by his mother, Frances Yeary of Steelville, Missouri; his wife, Carol Ann Yeary of Steelville, Missouri; two sons, Miles Yeary of Steelville, Missouri and Merrit Yeary and partner, Carrie Williams of Seattle, Washington; three daughters, Megan Yeary of Cook Station, Missouri, Meredith Yeary of Seattle, Washington and Melissa Yeary and husband Dave Green of Portland, Oregon; two stepchildren, Scott Mosley and Mark Mosley and wife Becky all of St. Louis, Missouri; three grandchildren, Noah Green, Cooper Green and Emma Williams; one step grandson, Wyatt Mosley; one sister, Lorna Reasor and husband George of Atlanta, Georgia; other relatives and friends. Visitation was from 11 a.m. until service time on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Eulogies were shared by Bill Freeman, Clayton Reasor and Miles Yeary. Special music of “Amazing Grace” and “Precious Memories” were sung and played by Rev. Jerry Beers. Other music of “Still the Rivers All Run Dry” and “Someday” were sung and played by the Yadkin Creek Boys. Committal prayer and burial were in the in the Steelville Cemetery. Casket bearers were Jim Thomas, Karen Thomas, Bill Freeman, Clayton Reasor, Johnny Brice, Dale Lunsford, Jim Vaughn and Dillon Parry.
