Alvin graduated from college as a Metallurgical Chemist and went to work for the US Bureau of mines in Rolla, Missouri where he worked until he retired. He proudly served his country in the United States Army National Guard from 1965-1968. Alvin was a longtime member of the Landmark Baptist Church. He was an avid gardener, outdoorsman and a horticulturist at heart. He was a longtime member of the American Hemerocallis Society, American Iris Society, and the St. Louis Hosta Association. He also enjoyed jeeping, camping, hunting, fishing, rock hounding and searching for mushrooms. He also had the ability to hike through the woods or parks and could name all the plants and foliage along the way. Alvin and Joelle opened their home for many years while serving as foster parents, one in particular that has stayed in contact is CT Wilson. He also enjoyed traveling. Clonts of Steelville, Missouri was born in Steelville, Missouri on Monday, February 4, 1935 to Walter and Jesse Clonts and passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at the age of 80 years. On May 1964 he married Shizuko Maruyama in Tokyo, Japan. Emery served in the U.S. Navy for 27 years and retiring as a Master Chief Petty Officer. He served in the medical field and was stationed at many facilities in the United States and overseas. He was aboard several Naval Vessels both in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. He also served two tours of duty with the U.S. Marine Corps. On September 10, 1982 he married Marlene (Enke) Holloway. Emery was a member of the Steelville First Assembly of God Church and also a member of the VFW Post 6479, Board of Director for the Meramec Music Theatre for several years and a volunteer for the Chamber of Commerce. Myrl Kenneth Line Myrl Kenneth Line of Rolla, Missouri was born in Flat, Missouri on October 8, 1922 to Charles and Ruth (Vance) Line and passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at the age of 93 years. On May 8, 1943 he married Virginia "Peg" Housewright and they were blessed with four children. Myrl has been a resident of the Missouri Veteran's Home since April 18, 2011. He served honorably in the U.S. Army earning the rank of 1st Lieutenant, serving from April 15, 1944 to December 8, 1945. He served as a pilot during WWII in many areas, but primarily in Italy and Brazil, being awarded the Euro-African- Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with five Bronze Stars, the Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, the Distinguished Unit Citation, the American Campaign Medal and two Air Force Overseas Ribbons. Myrl earned a Bachelor's Degree from the Missouri School of Mines in Mechanical Engineering, now Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla, Missouri. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army, he accepted employment as a mechanical engineer for M cDonnell Douglas in St. Louis, Missouri, retiring after 35 plus years of service. He was a faithful member of the First Church of God in St. James, Missouri. He enjoyed serving as a tutor for many years for the Rolla Public Schools and was an avid golfer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ruth Line; wife, Peg on November 2, 2010; his sister, Maxine Linamen; and his brother, Gene Line. He is survived by his children, Kenneth G. Jesse Wilbern Lucas Jesse Wilbern Lucas Sr. of St. Clair, Missouri, was born in Bliss, Missouri on October 12, 1942 to Leslie Jackson and Alice Dora Lucas (nee DeClue) and passed away on December 30, 2015 at the age of 73 years, 2 months and 18 days. On December 14, 1963 he married Evelyn Carole Cokley. Jesse was attending Friendship Baptist Church in St. Clair, Missouri and in the past had attended Bethel Baptist Church in Lonedell, Missouri. He was in the U.S. Navy from October 16, 1961 to October 15, 1963. He was currently a member of American Legion Post 347 in St. Clair, Missouri. He was employed by Chrysler Corporation in Fenton, Missouri, retiring after 32 years of service and a retiree of the United Auto Workers, Local 136 of Fenton, Missouri. He enjoyed using his barbering talents to cut all the family members hair. For several years, he owned and operated a locksmith shop out of his home in Union, Missouri. At the age of five, Jesse wanted to play music, so he taught himself and was now a talented musician, playing guitar, drums, acoustic instruments. He was always in or had a band and his current band was the Indian Creek Band. He was a mason and member of Gray Summit Lodge #173 in Gray Summit, Missouri. He was also a member of Shrine in Albuquerque, New Mexico and was a member of the Moolah Shrine in St. Louis, Missouri. He was a volunteer fireman for the Union Fire Protection District and was also a qualified diver. He also served the community through his membership in the Moose Lodge in Union, Missouri. Making jewelry was a favorite pastime and his family will treasure the pieces he has made them. Hunting and fishing were other hobbies he enjoyed. Judy was united in marriage to John G. McGuire in 1971 at Cuba, Missouri and to this union four children were born. Judy retired from the University Missouri Rolla (UMR) after 20 years of dedicated service. She worked in the Custodial Department. Judy spent her life taking care of her children and her many cats. 'Judy's favorite cat was her Siamese "Precious." In her spare time she enjoyed country music, watching the crime shows on TV and the shopping trips with her sisters to the thrift stores. Watson Parker and passed on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at the age of 94 years, 11 months and 15 days. He was united in marriage to Virginia Mae Reel on April 4, 1965 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He attended Butler University and graduated with a degree in pharmacy. He worked as a pharmacist for 52 years. After retiring as a pharmacist, he worked at the Indianapolis Airport as a security guard until 2012. He loved having flower and vegetable gardens. He was an avid sports fan; he especially enjoyed following Purdue and Indiana University. He was a member of Open Door Baptist Church in Indiana for many years, and he was a member of the Delhi Baptist Church in Cuba, Missouri. He was known as the candy man at church. Before attending college, he was in the United States Navy. He was stationed in Great Lakes, Illinois and Pearl Harbor. He received several medals: American Area, Asiatic Pacific Area, Victory World War II and Good Conduct. Speed married Catherine A. Kolb on June 28, 1949 at Cincinnati, Ohio and to this union six children were born. Speed proudly served in the United States Army from December 4, 1950 to December 3, 1953. Speed worked for Honeywell and McDonnell Douglas before retiring in 1994 from ABC Unified School District in Cerritos, California as the warehouse/maintenance supervisor. Speed enjoyed playing baseball and football in his younger years and he coached football for a few years. He spent hours dancing with his wife Catherine. They retired and moved to Cuba, Missouri in 1995. He enjoyed traveling, especially going on cruises. They cruised to Hawaii, Mexico, Jamaica and St. Thomas (Speed's favorite) just to mention a few. His last cruise was in 2014 with his grandson to the Bahamas. Richard (Dick) Lee Riddell Richard (Dick) Lee Riddell of St. James, Missouri was born in St. Louis, Missouri on November 17, 1933 to Harold and Mabel Riddell and passed away on January 1, 2016 in Columbia, Missouri at the age of 82 years, 2 months and 15 days. Dick married Joyce L. (Arndt) Riddell on July 30, 1960 in Columbia, Missouri. Dick was a hard worker and helped his parents whenever he could. He graduated from Hickman High School in Columbia, Missouri in 1953. After his military service ended in 1957, Dick served on the Columbia Police Force until about 1963. He followed that becoming quite the entrepreneur. First, opening several full service gas stations, then he co-owned Tire and Battery Outlet Store with his brother Bob. Later he had a successful delivery business. In the mid-70s Dick moved his family to Springfield, Missouri where he worked with his older brother Tom in construction and then at the Springfield International Raceway in Rogersville. In the early 80s Dick settled his family in the St. James, Missouri area permanently and operated the Orkin Pest control business and later his own pest control business until he retired. During retirement Dick enjoyed operating a pawn shop, but the real enjoyment was getting to visit with people every day. Dick was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in August 1963. Some of the last words Dick talked about were the resurrection and wanting to see everyone there. He knew that the promise of the paradise earth was real and he wanted everyone he spoke to, to be part of that. Four days before he died, he was preaching - a preacher of God's word to the end. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Mabel Riddell; son, John David Riddell; and two brothers, Donald Harold Riddell and Robert Eugene Riddell Sr. He is survived by his wife Joyce; brother, Thomas (Kristy) Riddell of Springfield, Missouri; son, Joseph Donald Riddell of St. James, Missouri; daughters Sarah Melinda (Wayne) Wagoner and Nancy Almire (Lorne) Steavens, both of St. James, Missouri; four grandsons; one granddaughter; three great grandsons; other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in St. James, Missouri with funeral service at 2 p.m. Don William Watson Don William Watson of St. James, Missouri was born February 7, 1972 in Rolla, Missouri to Stanley and Sharon Phoenix Watson and passed away on Sunday, January 3, at the age of 43 years, 10 months 27 days. He and his son, Cordell, loved to ride four wheelers together. He spent a lot of time with his family. He was never far away if someone needed anything. He would give you the shirt off his back if need be. He and his sister, Penny, loved to go thrift shopping and to go to yard sales. He enjoyed family barbeques, shooting pool and working on trucks. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Voss Quarry for 16 years. He is preceded in death by his mother, Sharon. He is survived by his children, Cordell Watson of St. James, Missouri and Kira Watson of Salem, Missouri; his father, Stanley Watson of St. James, Missouri; two brothers, Wade and wife Cheryl of St. James, Missouri and Robert of St. James, Missouri; two sisters, Sherrie Martin and husband, Patrick of Cuba, Missouri and Penny Watson of Steelville, Missouri; other relatives and friends. Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri. Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri with Wilbur Ness officiating. Pallbearers were Tylor Barnicle, Kevin Watson, Austin Watson, Robert Allen Watson, Mike Chandler and Chris Palmer. Burial was in the Asher Cemetery in rural St. James, Missouri. Arrangements under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri. Sarah Ann Weiss Sarah Ann Weiss of Steelville, Missouri was born May 18, 1984 in St. Louis, Missouri to Andrew and Robin Weinhaus Weiss and passed away Saturday, January 2, 2016 at the age of 31 years. Sarah had taught in St. Louis, Missouri with special needs children. She spent much of her time doing the bookkeeping for her father's self-storage in Steelville, Missouri. Sarah was an artist who loved photography, nature and painting. She also enjoyed taking care of her animals, "Baby" the cat and "Hannah" the dog. She is survived by her father, Andrew Weiss of Steelville, Missouri; her mother, Robin Weiss of St. Louis, Missouri; one brother, Adam Michael Weiss of Catawissa, Missouri; other relatives and friends. The family chose cremation as a final disposition. There will be no services at this time. Arrangements under the direction of the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, Missouri.
