Donald Irvin Althage
Donald Irvin Althage of Phoenix, Arizona was born to Irvin and
Ruth M. (Hoemann) Althage on May 17, 1952 in Washington, Missouri
and passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Scottsdale Medical
Center, in Scottsdale, Arizona at the age of 61 years.
Donald worked as a supervisor for Motorola Company for many years
and honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin and Ruth M. (Hoemann)
Althage.
He is survived by his twin brother, Ronald and wife Belinda Althage
of St. James, Missouri; three sisters, Barbara and husband James
Kaufhold of Cuba, Missouri, Sharon and husband Scott Heiner of
San Antonio, Texas, Kay and husband William Olson of San Antonio,
Texas; other relatives and friends.
Private graveside service was held at the Kinder Cemetery, Cuba,
Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the Mizell Funeral Home in Cuba,
Missouri.
Beverly JoAnn Bishop
Beverly JoAnn Bishop of Ballwin, Missouri was born on
November 12, 1944 in Rolla, Missouri to William Kenneth and Doris
Lee (Matheny) Clark and passed away at her home on January 9, 2014.
Beverly attended high school in Kirkwood, Missouri. She was a
longtime member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Wildwood,
Missouri. Beverly enjoyed spending time with family and friends and
shopping with her mom on Saturdays was an event she always looked
forward to. She loved being a grandmother and cherished the time
she could spend with her grandchildren. She was a loving and devoted
wife for 29 years to Dallas Alton Bishop, who she wed in 1984.
Beverley JoAnn Bishop is survived by her husband, Dallas of the
home; mother, Doris Norris of Kirkwood, Missouri; children, David
Brinkman and wife Karen of Lexington, Kentucky and Nikki Wissler of
St. Louis, Missouri; brothers, Ron Norris and wife Pat of Cedar Hill,
Missouri, Carl Norris and wife Janice of Lebanon, Missouri, and
Roger Norris of Fenton, Missouri; sister, Terry Norris; grandchildren,
Chris, Rachael, and Mason Brinkman, and Addison Cozzens.
She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Brinkman.
Visitation was held at the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Wildwood,
Missouri from 10:30 until service time at 11:30 a.m.
Funeral service was held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, January 13, 2014
at the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Wildwood, Missouri with Pastor
Randy Curtman officiating.
A graveside interment will be at 2:30 p.m. at the St. James Cemetery
with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Hobert Lee Breuer
Hobert Lee Breuer of St. James, Missouri was born June 3, 1937 in
St. James, Missouri to Sherman Rhodes and Beatrice Evelyn Seaton
Breuer and passed away Wednesday January 1, 2014 at the University
Hospital in Columbia, Missouri at the age of 76 years.
On February 22, 1987 in Rolla, Missouri, Hobert was united in marriage
to Betty L. Rosenow.
He enjoyed a military career with the U.S. government and loved the
great outdoors. Hobert and Betty enjoyed retirement and traveled many
states together.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Breuer of St. James, Missouri; sons,
Brian and wife Karla Breuer of Kansas City, Missouri and Steve and
and Beth Willis of St. James, Missouri; daughters, Brenda Cooper and
husband Ben of Kansas City, Missouri, Melony LonGoria and husband
Charlie of Arkansas, Paula Laney and husband Robert of St. James,
Missouri, Shelia O’Brian of St. James, Missouri and Lisa Stogsdill
of St. James, Missouri; many grandchildren; great grandchildren;
other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday January 3, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at the
Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri.
Funeral service with full military honors was conducted at 11 a.m.
Saturday January 4, 2014 at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James
with Don Carson Officiating.
Burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

Donald Wayne Brooks
Donald Wayne Brooks of Cuba, Missouri was born on Friday,
April 21, 1961 in St. Louis, Missouri to Elise Mae Asher Jacks
of Steelville, Missouri and Maurice Brooks and passed away on
Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at the age of 52 years, 8 months and
17 days.
Donald never married and was self-employed as a shoeshine man. He
enjoyed his shoe shining business, playing games, attending yard
sales and junking.
He was preceded in death by his father, Maurice Brooks.
He is survived by his mother, Elise Mae Asher Jacks; daughter,
Barbara Farris of Cuba, Missouri; grandchildren, Brandon Arnold,
Chaise Garms and Hanna Besel, all of Cuba, Missouri; brother,
George (Christine) Brooks of St. Louis, Missouri; sisters, Dorothy
(John) Thomas of Leasburg, Missouri and Cindy Kerr of St. Louis,
Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Monday, January 13, 2014 from 5-6 p.m. with a
memorial service at 6 p.m. with Pastor Jerry Beers officiating at
the Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.

Dorothy “Juanita” Collins
Dorothy “Juanita” Collins, nee Doss, was born Tuesday, July 11, 1922
on Indian Creek in Washington County, Missouri to Lydle and Elva
Pearl Baldwin Doss and passed away Monday, January 6, 2014 at the age
of 91 years, 5 months and 26 days.
Juanita married Delmar “Lynton” Collins on May 8, 1937 in Steelville,
Missouri and to this union nine children were born.
Juanita and Lynton made their home together in Steelville, Missouri
for 54 years until his death.
Juanita enjoyed quilting, gardening, raising flowers, cooking, and
canning. She was very fond of dogs especially her dog Tipper.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lydle and Elva Doss;
husband, Lynton in 1991; one son, Lee Collins; one infant son,
James Alvin Collins and one infant daughter, Donna Sue Collins; one
great grandson, Ricky Thompson; brothers, Bill Doss and John Doss;
sisters, Florence Rawlings and Gladine Harper; brothers-in-law and
sisters-in-law, Maxine and Frederick Peetz, Fred Gregory, Hadley
and Lucille Collins, Esco Collins, Mary Collins and Delphia Audrine
Collins.
She is survived by her children, Bob Collins (Nancy) of Robertsdale,
Alabama, Kenneth (Sheila) of Steelville, Missouri, Jack (Debbie)
Collins of Cuba, Missouri, Dorothy Collins of Steelville, Missouri,
Connie (Joe) Watkins of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and Susie (Rob)

Visitation was Wednesday, January 8, 2014, from 5-8 p.m. at the
Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral service was 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2014, at the
Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri with Pastor Jerry Beers
officiating.
Burial was at the Kinder Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.
Pallbearers were John Kaiser, Bobby Collins, Matthew Pennock,
Jimmy Collins, Kenny Collins and Jeremy Thompson.

James William King
James William King of Leasburg, Missouri was born September 19, 1921
at Leasburg, Missouri to Royal James and Irene (nee Ellis) King and
passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at the age of 92 years.
James proudly served in the United States Army from October 1942
until October 1945. He was awarded three Bronze Stars, Good Conduct
Medal and a Purple Heart.
James was united in marriage to Golden Marie Richards on
January 26, 1946 at Leasburg, Missouri.
James worked as a Pharmacist Assistant in Cuba and in Sullivan; he
retired in 1983 after 31 years of dedicated service to the Staats
Drug Company.
James had been a member of Crossroads Baptist Church of Leasburg
since 1933 and was the music director for the church for 45 years.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening and working outdoors. After retirement
James began canning and his specialty was jelly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Royal and Irene King; four
brothers, Edward King, Alvin King, Wilbur King and Gene King; four
sisters, Ethel and husband Robert Bodey, Viola Sappington, Alma
Woods and Marie Adams; two brothers-in-law, Maurice Ray and Chuck
Schaffer.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 68 years, Golden Marie King of
Cuba, Missouri, formerly of Leasburg, Missouri; one brother, Clarence
“Pete” and wife Dorothy King of Sullivan, Missouri; two sisters, Alice
Ray of Fenton, Missouri and Betty Schaffer of Sappington, Missouri;
four sisters-in-law, Joyce King of Sullivan, Missouri, Ina King of
Wentzville, Missouri, Irene King of Cuba, Missouri and Norma King of
Bourbon, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Friday, January 10, 2014 from 9-11 a.m. at the
Crossroads Baptist Church, Leasburg, Missouri.
Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 10, 2014 at
the Crossroads Baptist Church with Mike King officiating. Special
music was Amazing Grace and How Great Thou Art.
Interment and prayers followed at the Crossroads Cemetery with full
military honors.

Nichole Suzanne Licklider
Nichole Suzanne Licklider of Rolla, Missouri was born in Rolla,
Missouri on April 28, 1988 to Roger C. and Stacy LeeAnn (Frintrup)
Licklider and passed away Monday, January 6, 2014 at the age of
25 years.
She was a 2007 graduate of the Vienna High School.
She most recently worked as a caregiver for clients of Choices For
People.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Vincent Frintrup;
grandmother, Wanda Licklider; sister, Casey Jo Licklider; and
grandfather, Stanley Arthur.
She is survived by her daughter, Madelyn Paige Licklider of Rolla,
Missouri; mother, Stacy L. Licklider of St. George, Kansas; father,
Roger C. Licklider and wife Valerie of Rolla, Missouri; four brothers,
Dalton T. Licklider of Rolla, Missouri, Carter M. Licklider of
St. George, Kansas, Jacob A. Rothe of Rolla, Missouri and Cody Rothe
of Rolla, Missouri; two sisters, Anne Robison and husband James, and
Amy Rothe, both of Rolla, Missouri; maternal grandmother, Jacqueline
Frintrup of Manhattan, Kansas; paternal grandfather, Cornell Licklider

A private family committal service followed in the Licklider Cemetery.

Melvin Thomas Matlock II
Melvin Thomas Matlock II was born Saturday, December 22, 1947 in
St. James, Missouri to Melvin Matlock I and Lucille Boggs Matlock and
passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2014 in Cuba, Missouri at the age of
66 years and 16 days.
Melvin married Darlene Barnett Matlock November 1, 1971 in Buffalo,
Missouri and to this union two children were born.
Melvin was an Air Force veteran during the Vietnam era. He attended
Vo-Tech school where he studied electronics. He started his career
as a telephone repairman. Melvin was a Nursing Home Administrator at
Woodland Estates for 10 years. He enjoyed watching TV, sports,
western and the Cooking Channel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Matlock I and Lucille
Matlock.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene; sons, Joseph Matlock, David
(Kellie) Barnett and Melvin Thomas (Libby) Matlock III, all of Cuba,
Missouri; sister Rebeca (Jesse) Harrison of Kansas City, Kansas;
brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Delman (Lynda) Barnett, Delbert
(Jackie) Barnett, all of St. James, Missouri, Geri Barnett of Rolla,
Missouri, Jesse Barnett of Davisville, Missouri, Ronald (Shauna)
Barnett of Seabeck, Washington and Velda (Gene) Kossuth of

James Herman Privett of Salem, Missouri was born December 25, 1938
and passed away on January 2, 2014 at the age of 75 years.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Privett of Salem, Missouri;
sons, Jimmie Privett of Salem, Missouri and Lonnie Privett of Salem,
Missouri; brother, William F. Privett and wife Eva of Salem,
issouri; sisters, Annette Cob of Missouri, Mary Harmon of Steelville,
Missouri, Joan Minn of Roscoe, Louisiana, Bessie Hayward and husband
Bill of Missouri, Geneva Keith of Troy, Missouri and Linda Hillemeyer
and husband Danny of Tennessee; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Friday, January 10, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
at the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel in Salem, Missouri.
Funeral service was held Friday, January 10, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the
Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel in Salem, Missouri.
Interment was in the Corinth Cemetery.

Dr. John Mathias “Jack” Rathgeb Jr. D.O.
Dr. John Mathias “Jack” Rathgeb, Jr. D.O. of Royal Palm Beach,
Florida was born to John Mathias and Aileen (Houston) Rathgeb on
May 4, 1935 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania and passed away Wednesday,
January 1, 2014 at his home at the age of 78 years.
Dr. Jack attended Grove City College and went on to Medical School
at Kirksville College. In his second year of medical school, he went
on a blind date with his future bride of 51 years, Sue Slowensky.
Jack and Sue married on July 7, 1962 and moved to Ypsilanti, Michigan
where Jack completed his residency and practiced for some 14 years.
The family then moved to Lake Worth, Florida where Jack served
until his retirement from private practice in 1998.
Jack enjoyed life and experienced it to the fullest! He savored
spending time with his family Sue, Jeff, Toni, John and
brother-in-law Teddy. Jack was a committed Christian and member of
Palms West Presbyterian Church. He also was a 50 year Mason and
member of Cuba Lodge #312 A.F. & A.M. He liked to play tennis,
surf fish, snow and water ski.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Mathias and Aileen
(Houston) Rathgeb; two sons, Jeffrey Blake Rathgeb and John Mathias
Rathgeb, III.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Rathgeb; one daughter, Toni and
husband Gary Savage; one granddaughter, Lauren Mattox; one sister,
Lynn and husband Sheldon Kushner; two brothers-in-law, Teddy
Slowensky and Joe and wife Janie Slowensky.
Masonic service was held on Saturday, January 18, 2014 11:30 a.m.
at the Mizell Funeral Home, followed by a light lunch.
Graveside service was held at 1 p.m. at the Kinder Cemetery, Cuba,
Missouri.

Pastor Angela J. Simpson
Pastor Angela J. Simpson of Steelville, Missouri was born on Monday,
October 17, 1960 to Maurice Eugene and Sharon Lee Breece Simpson and
passed away Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the age of 53 years,
2 months and 25 days.
Angela was a member and licensed minister at the Steelville Assembly
of God Church where she volunteered as the Children’s Pastor. She
enjoyed making videos and power point presentations of family and
the children at church, whom she loved dearly. She also spent time
designing and updating the church website.
She was preceded in death by her father, Maurice Simpson; grand-
parents, Albert and Thelma Breece and Mabel and Leonard Simpson.
She is survived by her parents, Sharon and David Leslie of Steelville,
Missouri; sister, Lea Anne Gordon of St. James, Missouri; brother,
Matt (Becky) Simpson of Steelville, Missouri; sister, Tommie (Chris)
Ault of Cameron, Ohio; step brother and step sisters, David Leslie Jr.
of Cuba, Missouri, Anna (Steve) Wadlow of Vichy, Missouri and Chris
Mounce of Steelville, Missouri; niece and nephew, Brandy (David)
Pollack of Cuba, Missouri and Jared (Kelly) Gordon of Bridgeton,

David Everett Whaley
David Everett Whaley was born in Providence, Rhode Island on Saturday,
December 20, 1930 to Jesse Arnold and Bertha Louise (Thiel) Whaley
and passed away in Steelville, Missouri on Tuesday, January 7, 2014
at the age of 83 years and 18 days.
David spent his childhood in Rhode Island. He was a decorated
veteran of the U.S. Army with tours served in Germany and Vietnam.
He was a trumpeter in the U.S. Army Band at West Point, New York
for nine years. He was an accomplished musician and also worked as
an electrician for 20 years in Indianapolis before retiring in
Missouri.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Whaley of
New Jersey.
He is survived by his daughter, Kerrie (Mike) Eaton of Steelville,
Missouri; son, David Whaley, of Steelville, Missouri; mother of his
children, Alice Whaley of Steelville, Missouri; grandsons, Jesse
Whaley and Dakota Whaley, both of Steelville, Missouri; granddaughter,
Amber Whaley of Indianapolis, Indiana and great grandson, Landon
Whaley of Steelville, Missouri; brothers, Jesse Whaley of Everett,
Washington, Richard Whaley and Donald Whaley, both of North
Kingstown, Rhode Island; other relatives and friends.
Arrangements for cremation through the Hutson Funeral Home,
Steelville, Missouri.
A private, family memorial service will be held at a later date.
Doris Jean Williams
Doris Jean Williams of Cuba, Missouri was born June 27, 1948 at
St. Louis, Missouri to Benjamin and Lillian (nee Hodge) Shoemaker
and passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Cuba, Missouri at the
age of 65 years.
Doris worked as an office manager for Dr. Vo in Sullivan, Missouri
for many years before her health required that she retire in 2011.
Doris loved to shop either at the store or off of the TV. She was a
member of QVC and the Home Shopping Network on TV. She enjoyed
reading, karaoke and collected lots of things, especially jewelry.
Doris believed her purpose in life was to take care of her family
and to spoil them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Lillian
Shoemaker; two brothers, Russell and Ben Shoemaker.
She is survived by her four daughters, Gina and husband Rich Nosrati
of Dixon, California, Kimberly Franke of Rolla, Missouri, Amy and
husband John Hensley of Cuba, Missouri and Becky Pohlmann and friend
Johnny Seitz; 10 grandchildren, Lori, Kayla, Kristen, Bethany, Chase,
Grant, Nicholas, Dillon, Olivia and Stevi; four great grandchildren;
four brothers, Lonnie and wife Barb Shoemaker of Phoenix, Arizona,
Richard and wife Donna Shoemaker of Sullivan, Missouri, Stan and
wife Mel Shoemaker of Owensville, Missouri and Lester Shoemaker of
Sullivan, Missouri; one sister, Pat Sowash of St. Louis, Missouri;
other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Saturday, January 11, 2014 from 2-4 p.m. at
the Mizell Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral service was held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2014
at the Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba with special music of
“Amazing Grace,” “When I Get Where I’m Going,” “See You Again” and
“Wind Beneath My Wings.”
Private interment and prayers held at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Cuba,
Missouri.
