Judith married John C. Armstrong. During her adult life she worked in a few factories and was a dealer at a casino. She also worked as a sales clerk in the gift shop at the Adams Mark Hotel. She moved from Kansas City, Missouri 12 years ago to make her home in Cuba, Missouri. Judith was a kind and sweet lady. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Levena Carey; and three sons, Norman, Albert and Kenneth Armstrong. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Diane "Cookie" Armstrong of Cuba, Missouri; aunt, Fern Greene of Carrollton, Missouri; niece, Debbie Petrethko of Norborne, Missouri; other relatives and friends. Ruth A'Lake Haley Ruth A'Lake Haley (nee Cotner) of Arnold, Missouri was born on January 9, 1927 in Sligo, Missouri and passed away January 10, 2020 at the age of 93 years and 1 day. She was a dedicated school teacher. She first taught in rural Dent and Crawford counties. She was later encouraged to relocate to Arnold and teach with the Fox C-6 School District after graduating from Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, Missouri. She solidified her teaching career with the Windsor C-1 School District and retired there as a fifth grade teacher in 1989, rounding out 45 years of education. She took great pride in her home and enjoyed feeding the birds, gardening, playing the organ and visiting. She also made many friends selling Avon for decades. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles E. and Ethel E. (nee Butts) Cotner; siblings, Delmar (Violet) Cotner, Laverne (Corbett) Gregory, Fern (George Hutson) and (Leroy Hanson) Hutson- Hanson; and daughter-in-law, Pamela Haley. Steven Andrew Beakley Steven Andrew Beakley was born on March 12, 1951 to Andrew and Thelma (Cox) Beakley and passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at the age of 68 years. Steve graduated High School with a 3.4 GPA. He proudly served his country in the United States Army for three years during the Vietnam War. He received nine awards for his service, and received a honorable discharge. He took classes at Bailey Technical School for Automotive Mechanic Technology. He was a class 1-A repairman at Bi-State Public Transit System in St. Louis, Missouri. He was forced to leave employment due to disability caused by Multiple Sclerosis. Steve was a disabled Veteran. During his high school years Steve worked for Cyclone Enterprises, where they made hot dog machines and small safes for delivery vans that carried money and receipts. Steve learned all phases of production necessary in the making of hot dog machines, earning the assistant production set-up position in all phases of the hot dog machine manufacturing process. While employed at Bi-State Bus, Steve was one of the five repairmen honored for the first place team in the Bi-State Bus Rodeo held annually. He was also employed at Forest Park in St. Louis, Missouri as a mechanic by the city of St. Louis Parks Division. He was an avid guitar player, playing for self accompaniment for songs that he wrote and sang in church. He like older automobiles and trucks without computer systems and he always maintained his own vehicles. Steve was a lifetime member of the North American Hunting Club, and a member of the American Legion for four years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Thelma Beakley. He is survived by his children, Andrew R. Michael Joseph Helm Michael Joseph Helm was born September 20, 1958, in St. Louis, Missouri to Roy and Bernardine (Slocum) Helm and passed away January 4, 2020 at the age of 61 years. Michael spent most of his life in the St. Louis, Missouri area. He was a man of many talents and a very hard worker. He began drawing and painting at an early age and was hired by several neighbors to do oil paintings by the time he was 10 years old. In his pre-teen and teen years, Michael continued to work in oils and selling several of his projects. Michael's passion for art continued throughout his life. He worked at the Penniston Commercial Art Studio before becoming the Vice President of his own art studio, Helm Smith and Grimm, Inc. He worked for several years with ad agencies and large companies like Kellogg and Anheuser Busch. Michael was blessed with one daughter, Jessica Casey. On April 14, 2001 Michael married Barbara Ann Kerns at the Bonebrake Center and together they shared 11 years of marriage before her passing. Michael moved to the Salem, Missouri area in 1998. He has created many murals and logos for local businesses, sets for plays and has taught several art classes. He was a part of the Bigfoot Exhibit at Trees and Trains along with Santa's Workshop and has played Santa for many years. He enjoyed working at Salem R-80 as a paraprofessional. Michael was an incredible teacher and amazing artist. Michael was strong in his faith and attended several local churches. He enjoyed the worship and the opportunity to sing. Michael was a part of the Spring Creek Artisans, Arts Rolla and Salem Area Community Betterment Association. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Helm on November 21, 2010; daughter, Jessica Casey; and parents, Roy and Bernardine Helm. Jerold Norman McKinnon Jerold Norman McKinnon, born in St. Louis, Missouri on April 6, 1933 to Freddy A. and Delia G. McKinnon and passed away January 2, 2020 at the age of 86 years, 8 months and 27 days. Jerold, or "The Gray Dragon" as he was nicknamed, joined the Navy when he was 17 years old, serving for five years, including the Korean War. Jerry learned how to play guitar at the young age of five years old and quickly learned music was his passion. Jerry began playing in local clubs before moving to the west coast in his 30's to pursue his music career. Jerry signed with Wayside Records and made several #1 hits, including "Mr. Heartache." In the 60's Jerry performed his music at The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee. Jerry returned to St. James, Missouri to raise his family and his beloved dog, Coney. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Freddy and Delia McKinnon; and brother, Harold F. McKinnon. Teddy worked as a boiler maker for many years for Local #27 Union. He retired in 2015 from Holsum Cement Plant. Teddy spent hours treasure hunting. Whether he was using his metal detector, hunting for arrowheads or dumpsters diving. Teddy was always looking for a treasure. He enjoyed reading, dancing, playing cards, making people laugh, traveling and he always wanted to be on the go. On March 31, 1941 in Ironton, Missouri he married Edith Irene Baker. Winford had been a member of the Grace Assembly Church in St. Louis, Missouri for many years and a member of Boss Assembly Church. He will be always be known as one of God's warriors. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his coon hounds. When younger, he loved to shoot marbles and play baseball. He was also an avid Cardinal baseball fan. On May 31, 1952 at Salem, Arkansas he married Mary Belle Cox. She passed away on May 26, 2016. He lead by example for his family and those around him. He accepted Christ at an early age and attended Oak Grove Church of Christ. He attended Oak Grove School and graduated from John F. Hodge High School. He served as Elder of St James Church of Christ and attended services a week before his passing. Tom worked for the St. James Post Office for many years serving as assistance to the Post Master, and in later years he worked for the City of St. James, Missouri. Carol graduated from Sullivan High School with the class of 1962. She married Colin Kelly Sappington on March 2, 1968 in Union, Missouri. They lived in Sullivan, Missouri and Stanton, Missouri after being married, but moved to their forever home on a farm in Bourbon, Missouri in 1980. Carol had taken some classes at East Central College and she and Colin took real estate classes in the 70s. Throughout her life, she was a homemaker, worked various places such as Aerofil and as a mail carrier in Sullivan, Missouri, a census worker, Holiday Inn in Sullivan, Missouri and the Windmill in Stanton, Missouri. She played the piano at St. Clair Christian Church and at Fairview Baptist Church in Bourbon, Missouri for many years. Carol enjoyed to garden and can their harvest, cook and also sew. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence "Ray" and Vernis Frye; parents-in-law, Champ Clark and Allie Sappington; sister-in-law, Vera Sappington-Alexander; and daughter-in-law, Melinda Sappington. He married Judy Faye Keyes on February 23, 1980. Jerry owned and operated County Heating and Cooling in St. Louis, Missouri. He and Judy retired and made their home in Leasburg, Missouri for that last several years and made may wonderful friendships. Jerry enjoyed bowling, RVing, boating, fishing and four wheeling on the property.
