Ronald J. Bandy
Ronald J. Bandy of Cuba, Missouri, formerly of Belleville, Illinois, was
born February 26, 1934 in Indianapolis, Indiana and passed away Monday,
January 7, 2013 at his home at the age of 78 years.
Ron over the years worked for Norwich Pharmaceutical Company, Elder
Cadillac in Belleville, Illinois and retired from the St. Clair County
Sheriffs Department in 2008. He proudly served his country in the U.S.
Army National Guard, was a member of East Lodge #504 Fairview Heights,
Illinois, Ainad Shrine, Ainad Provost Guard, Cuba Lions Club and Cuba
Memorial Post #522 A.L.
Ron enjoyed reading, guns, turkey shoots, football, NASCAR and spending
time with family, friends and his dog Jake.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse James and Rosa Gertrude
(Moore) Bandy.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Bandy of Cuba, Missouri; one son,
Ronald J. “Skip” and wife Laurie Bandy, II of Belleville, Illinois; five
step-children, Ken and wife Pat Coverdell of Kansas City, Missouri, Ernie
and wife Shell Coverdell of Edgar Springs, Missouri, Tammy and husband
Bill Voellinger of Licking, Missouri, Karen and husband Glen Groom of
Cuba, Missouri, Jodi and husband Jerry Smith of Vienna, Missouri; special
friend, Tim Duff of Greenville, Illinois; three grandchildren, 10 step
grandchildren; two great grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren;
other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 from 5-8 p.m. with a
Masonic service 6:30 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral service was held on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 10 a.m. at
Mizell Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Duff and Bro. Ernie Coverdell,
officiating.
Interment was held on Friday, January 11, 2013 at the Oak Lawn Cemetery
in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Arrangements under the direction of the Mizell Funeral Home in Cuba,
Missouri.
Lois Aileen Barnes
Lois Aileen Barnes (nee Mueller) of St. James, Missouri was born on
March 3, 1927 in St. James, Missouri to Albert and Gladys (Hance) Mueller
and passed away January 3, 2012 in Rolla at the age of 85 years,
10 months.
Lois attended John F. Hodge High School.
On July 14, 1945 Lois Mueller was united in marriage to Frank Barnes and
to this union three children were born.
She liked the outdoors, fishing, camping and spending time with family
and friends. She was devoted to her family always looked forward to the
visits from her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Frank Barnes; three children,
Judi (Richard) Svoboda, Rick (Faith) Barnes, and Lisa (Bob) Meier; 13
grandchildren, Kevin Roberts, Bryan Roberts, Cole Meier, Katelyn Meier,
Daniel Meier, Kylie Meier, Sarah Barnes, Trevor Barnes, Connor Barnes,
Baby Barnes, Steven Svoboda and John Svoboda; two great grandchildren;
sister, Darlene Happ; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Sunday, January 6, 2013 from noon to 2 p.m. at
the St. James Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the
St. James Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary with Craig Rippy officiating.
Interment was in the Ozark Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Rolla,
Missouri.

Eugene R. Bast
Eugene R. Bast of Bourbon was born Thursday, April 9, 1942 at St. James,
Missouri to George Lester and Berenice (nee Daehn) Bast and left from this
life on Friday, January 11, 2013 in Bourbon, Missouri at the age of 70 years.
Eugene was the fifth child of 13 in the family. He attended Holy Cross
Catholic Elementary School and graduated from Cuba High School in 1963.
Eugene working on the old tube TV’s and radios. He worked as a mechanic
with his dad at the family business, Les Auto Repair. He continued his
mechanic skills after his father’s death working with many local business
people.
Eugene cared 24/7 for his grandmother when she needed help. After she passed
he moved home to help care for his parents. He cared for his mom for many
years.
Eugene, enjoyed getting out to play Pinochle at the card parties and had
a love for music.
At home he enjoyed growing his garden, which was brimming with strawberries,
asparagus and other garden favorites. Eugene loved to spend time with his
pet animals over the years, recently Patches was a wonderful companion for
him.
Eugene was a life-time member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church family
and was involved with the Knights of Columbus working with the other Knights.
He also mowed the grass for the Knights of Columbus Hall for many years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George Lester and Berenice Bast;
one brother, George Bast Jr. and two sisters, Virginia and Jean Bast.
He is survived by his five brothers, Donald and wife Linda Bast of Cuba,
Missouri, Gerard and wife Carolyn Bast of Black Jack, Missouri, Bill and
wife Nancy Bast of Athens, Georgia, Larry Bast of Strafford, Missouri and
Charles and wife Suzanne Bast of Winchester, Kentucky; four sisters,
Sr. Rose Bast, Joan and husband Dr. Leonardo Viril, Vera and husband Joe
Maschek and Kay Bast, all of Kansas City, Missouri; one uncle, Walter
Daehn of Cuba, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at
the Mizell Funeral Home in Cuba with a 6 p.m. Prayer Service.
Celebration of Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 18, 2013 at the
Holy Cross Catholic Church of Cuba with Father James Finder as celebrant.
Interment and prayers will follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery, Cuba,
Missouri.

Amelia K. Dace
Amelia K. Dace of Bourbon, Missouri was born in Bourbon, Missouri on
August 24, 1916 to George and Katherine Hertlein Merkel and passed away
Sunday, January 6, 2013 at the Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan,
Missouri at the age of 96 years.
She lived in the Bourbon area attending Concordia Lutheran School and
Bourbon High School and later graduating from Brown’s Business College
in St. Louis, Missouri.
She worked as a secretary and bookkeeper.
On April 10, 1937 she married Carl E Molkenbur and two children came to
bless this union, Ronald and Robert.
On October 22, 1949 she married Harvey E. Huber and two children blessed
this union, Edward and Karen. On October 17, 1967 she was married to
Tracy L. Dace.
Amelia was baptized on September 17, 1916 and renewed her baptismal vows at
Concordia Lutheran Church in Bourbon, Missouri on April 13, 1930. She was
the treasurer of the Concordia Ladies Aid for many years and belonged to
the Ladies Aux. of VFW Post 3987.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Katherine Merkel;
husbands, Carl, Harvey and Tracy; two sisters, Emma and Elsie; brother,
Herman and a brother and sister in infancy.
She is survived by three sons, Ronald Molkenbur and wife Diana of O’Fallon,
Missouri, Robert Molkenbur of Jacksonville, Florida and Edward Harvey Huber
and wife Sindy of Sullivan, Missouri; daughter, Karen Ivie and husband
Reldon of Bourbon, Missouri; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren;
other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the Eaton
Funeral Chapel in Sullivan, Missouri and from 9-11 a.m. on Wednesday,
January 9, 2013 at Concordia Lutheran Church in Bourbon, Missouri.
Funeral services were at 11 am on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at the
Concordia Lutheran Church in Bourbon, Missouri with burial in the
Bourbon Cemetery.
Arrangements under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan,
Missouri.
Catherine “Cathy” Gushwa
Catherine “Cathy” Gushwa, was born July 18, 1937 in Steelville, Missouri
to Frank and Mary (Hatcher) Happel and passed away at her home on
December 28, 2012 at Cresswell, Oregon at the age of 75 years.
On January 1, 1955 she was united in marriage to Carol Lee Gushwa in
St. James, Missouri and to this union three children were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mary Happel; one
brother, Charles Happel and sister-in-law, Patricia Happel of Cottage
Grove, Oregon.
She is survived by her husband, Lee Gushwa of the home; two sons, Aaron
and wife Pat of Redding, California and Brian and wife Susan of Eugene,
Oregon; daughter, Carrie and husband Larry Brown of Crescent, Oregon;
grandchildren; great grandchildren; two brothers, James Happel and wife
Mary of Cuba, Missouri and Kenneth Happel and wife Frances of St. James,
Missouri; six sisters, Irma Thurmond of Cuba, Missouri, Pearl Norris of
St. James, Missouri, Pauline Adams of Joplin, Missouri, Norma Russow of
Carthage, Missouri, Mary Lou Martin of St. James, Missouri, and Lola and
husband Jack Bartle of St. James, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Memorial services were held in Cresswell, Oregon on January 12, 2013.
Bernard James McGuire
Bernard James McGuire of Owensville, Missouri, formerly of Mt. Carmel,
Illinois, was born on July 16, 1915 in Enfield, Illinois to Joseph and
Mary Elizabeth (Fyie) McGuire and passed away on Wednesday,
January 9, 2013 at Gasconade Manor Nursing Home in Owensville, Missouri
at the age of 97 years.
Bernard attended a one-room schoolhouse in Logansport, Illinois before
moving to Ft. Branch, Indiana to live with his sister, Lula Suttner and
attend Ft. Branch High School.
He married Virginia (Dolly) Halbig McGuire on October 12, 1937 at St. Peter
and Paul Church in Haubstadt, Indiana, and had five children.
He worked for Emge Packing Co., Inc. in Fort Branch, Indiana from
July 1, 1933 to 1983. Following 50 years with the company, he retired as
area sales supervisor in Southern Illinois.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for 75 years and joined the
Fourth Degree. He served as Grand Knight at K of C Councils in three
states: Haubstadt, Indiana, Mt. Carmel, Illinois and Cuba, Missouri. He
also served as Faithful Navigator of the Fourth Degree. He was a member
of Immaculate Conception Church in Owensville, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary McGuire; sisters,
Lula Suttner, Julia Titzer, Marie McGuire and Margaret Greubel Adler;
brothers, Charles McGuire and Thomas McGuire; his wife Virginia (Dolly)
McGuire, on July 2, 1975; his second wife Juanita Vaughn (married May 1987)
in August 2010; and his grandchildren, Shannon McGuire and Stephen Clancy.
He is survived by children, Glennis (William) Clancy of Placentia,
California; Kent (Connie) McGuire of Waxahachie, Texas; Ellen (Gary)
Kilgos of Athens, Georgia; Charles (Kathy) McGuire of Cypress, Texas and
Joseph (Ann) McGuire of Dalton, Georgia; nine grandchildren; two step
grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; five step great grandchildren;
other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, January 14, 2013 at the
chapel of Cunningham Funeral Home, Mt. Carmel, Illinois with rosary at
7:30 p.m.
Funeral service was at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at St. Mary’s
Catholic Church, Mt. Carmel, Illinois with burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Mt. Carmel, Illinois.
Gladys Sheffield
Gladys Sheffield of Fort Polk, Louisiana, formerly of St. James, Missouri
was born on October 28, 1933 in Houston, Minnesota to Alvin and Alta
(Vraa) Hagen and passed away Friday, January 11, 2013 at the Byrd
Regional Hospital in Leesville, Louisiana at the age of 79 years.
Gladys Hagen was united in marriage to Johnny “Ralph” Sheffield in 1964
and to this union three daughters were born.
Gladys was very much a people person, she worked in St. James for many
years at McDonalds, the Barn B-B-Q, and at the Pump Handle convenience
store. Most will remember Gladys because she always rode her bicycle and
had a smile on her face.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Alta Hagen; husband,
Ralph in 1988; two sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by her daughters, Becky Karnes of Warrensburg, Missouri,
Bobbi Sheffield of Arizona and Robin Fulton and husband Glen of Fort
Polk, Louisiana; brothers, Donald Hagen of Minnesota, Raymond Hagen and
wife Shirley of Minnesota and Ernest Hagen, of Arizona; sisters, Lorraine
Bubitz of Arizona, Maxine Barth of Minnesota, Delores Heckmann of
Minnesota, Gloria Harding of Arizona and Linda Ranzanberger of Virginia;
nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; other relatives and
friends.
Visitation will be held at the St. James Chapel of the James and Gahr
Mortuary on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 10 a.m. until service time.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 1 p.m. in
the St. James Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary with Reverend Ralph
Green officiating.
Interment will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Jack Harold Sheridan
Jack Harold Sheridan of St. James, Missouri was born on November 24, 1932
in Williamsville, Missouri to Claude and Ina Sheridan and passed away
January 10, 2013 at his home.
On May 20, 1954 Jack was united in marriage to Wilma Claus in St. Louis,
Missouri. They celebrated their 58th year of marriage this year.
Jack began his 38th year railroad career as an electrician in St. Louis,
Missouri with the Missouri Pacific Railroad and received many promotions
taking his family to many places. He retired as the Chief Mechanical
Officer of the Union Pacific Railroad in 1988.
Jack had many loves and hobbies over the years, he hunted extensively
with championship bird dogs. He loved being on the lake boating, fishing
and teaching his grandchildren to fish and ski.
Each summer was spent with a two-week adventure across Texas with all
four grandchildren. Rodeos, boating and adventure parks created treasured
memories for all.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma; daughter, Patricia Sheridan Spier and
husband Dale of Omaha, Nebraska; son, Jack Harold Sheridan JR and wife
Lynn of Fayetteville, Arkansas; grandchildren, Katie Sheridan,
Jack H. Sheridan III, Ryan Sheridan Spier, Ally Spier; great granddaughter,
Chole Elizabeth Spier; other relatives and friends
Visitation was held Saturday, January 12, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at the
James & Gahr Mortuary in St. James, Missouri.
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 13, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the
St. James Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary with Reverend Jerry Baumann
officiating.

Terry Louis Vickers
Terry Louis Vickers was born on November 18, 1950 in St. Louis, Missouri
and passed away from illness at his home in Sullivan, Missouri on Tuesday,
January 8, 2013.
Terry loved spending time with family, following his favorite sports’ teams,
the Mizzou Tigers and the St. Louis Cards, Rams and Blues. He enjoyed
barbecuing, entertaining guests, telling jokes (even bad ones) and playing
golf.
On September 22, 1988, he was united in marriage to Linda Reinkemeyer at
Las Vegas, Nevada.
He was a past director and member of the Sullivan Country Club, Knights
of Columbus and member of Saint Anthony’s Parish of Sullivan, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Betty Vickers of
Steelville, Missouri.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Linda; five daughters, Teri
Rimiller and husband Eric of Kansas City, Missouri, Elizabeth Grant of
Ballwin, Missouri, Sarah Vickers of Rolla, Missouri, Tara Durr and husband
Boyce of Christiansburg, Virginia, and Jessica Caviness of El Cajon,
California; four grand-children, Amari, Grant, Zachary and Cedric; step-dad,
Bob Mohesky of Steelville, Missouri; brother, Alan Vickers and wife Jeannie
of Sullivan, Missouri; sisters, Sue Dwyer and husband Dennis of Rio Rancho,
New Mexico and Sharon Simpson and husband Bob of North Richland Hills,
Texas; aunt, Edith Love of Steelville, Missouri; many nephews, nieces,
other family and friends.
In celebration of Terry’s life, a prayer service was held at the Sullivan
Country Club on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. followed by an open
gathering from 3-6 p.m. at the Sullivan Country Club.
Cremation services were under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home,
Sullivan, Missouri.
