Alvin D. Beckett
Alvin D. Beckett was born on July 6, 1933 in Hinch, Mo. to Mack E. Beckett
and Leona J. Compton Beckett. He passed away on January 7, 2002 at St.
Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. at the age of 68 years, 6
months and 1 day.
Alvin enlisted in the United States Navy on July 11, 1951. He served his
country for 8 years and was honorably discharged on July 10, 1959.
Alvin had made his home in Cuba since 1967. Alvin professed his faith in
Jesus Christ, and was a member of St. James Assembly of God Church. He
worked in the timber industry for many years. He enjoyed the outdoors,
especially hunting and fishing.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Adolph Beckett; and
one daughter, Paulette Beckett.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are his children, Allen D. Beckett
and fiancee Teresa Ball of Sullivan, Mo., Michelle L. Beckett and fiancee
Lance Wiese of Bourbon, Mo., and Carol Ziegler and husband Stanley of
Steelville, Mo.; special friend, Bob Basham and family; five brothers, John
and wife Dixie Beckett of Bourbon, Mo., Oren and wife Bernetta Beckett of
Bourbon, Mo., Harold and wife Barbara Beckett of Bourbon, Mo., David and
wife Barbara Beckett of Bourbon, Mo., and Fred and wife Jane Beckett of
Campbell, Mo.
Sister-in-law Mabel Beckett of Bourbon, Mo.; five grandchildren, Myles
Allen Beckett, Devon Ray Payne, Lance Michael Beckett, Kolby N. Wilson, and
Destiny D. Ball; nieces, other relatives and many friends, all who will
sadly miss and fondly remember Alvin D. Beckett.
Private visitation was held for the family on Friday, January 11, 2002 at
the Hutson Funeral Home in Cuba, Mo.
Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, January 11, 2002 at the
Meramec Hills Cemetery in Cuba, Mo.
Pallbearers were Bob Basham, Larry Bridgeman, Allen Beckett, Clifford
Bridgeman, Myles Beckett, Lance Beckett, Devon Payne, and Jason Basham.
Arrangements were under the direction of Hutson Funeral Home in Cuba, Mo.
Marguerite M. Hesse
Marguerite M. Hesse, formerly of Cuba, passed away at her home in St.
Charles, Mo. on January 11, 2002 at the age of 82. She was born September
28, 1919, at Cambria, Illinois, the daughter of Daniel and Mary (Menser)
Hopper.
Her husband, Alvin W. Hesse preceded her in death. She was also preceded in
death by two sisters, Esta Jones and Aline Reggin.
She had worked as a Secretary at Bower Sox Insurance Co. She was a member
of the Cuba United Methodist Church, Ladies Auxiliary Indian Hills Club,
Cuba Ladies Golfing League.
She is survived by two sons, Gary Treece of St. Charles, Mo. and Ronald
Treece of St. Peters, Mo., one brother, Harold Vaughn, Winfield, Mo.,
grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 19, 2002, 12:00 noon at the
Cuba United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to St. John's Hospice
or Cuba United Methodist Church.
William Turner (Bill) Richards
William Turner (Bill) Richards, 52, of Chillicothe, Texas, formerly of
Cuba, Mo., died Tuesday, December 25, 2001 in St. George, Utah. No funeral
services were held.
Richards was born March 20, 1949 in Dubuque, Iowa, a son of Evelyn Ruth
Griff Richards and the late Turner W. Richards.
He was a long time employee of Georgia Pacific Corp.
Surviving are his mother of St. George, Utah, a daughter Victoria Smyth of
Oregon, four step-children, Richie Bradley and Cassandra (Cissie) Vader of
Chillicothe, and Tony Bradley and Johnny Williams of Lake Jackson, Texas;
three sisters Jeanne Funatake, Joanne Oesterling and Carole Randall.
Nannie R. Waller
Nannie R. Waller of Sullivan, Mo. passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2002
at the age of 75 years.
Mrs. Waller was born on September 9, 1926 in Kennett, Mo. to Harvey and
Oudia (Mitchell) Collins. On January 3, 1942 she was joined in marriage to
William M. Waller at Doniphan, Mo., and to their union twelve children were
born. Throughout her adult years, Nannie served her family as a devoted
wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. In 1990 she moved to the Sullivan
area. Nannie enjoyed going for rides in the country, listening to country
western music, trips to Branson, and anything to do with "Elvis." She found
her greatest pleasure, however, in visiting and spending time with her
children and family. Nannie was a follower of the Pentecostal faith, and
will be remembered and cherished as a very strong, yet loving woman.
She is survived by four sons, Rickey Waller and wife, Debbie, of Granite
City, Illinois, Jerry Waller and wife, Alfreida, and Kenny Waller, all of
Sullivan, and Leon Waller and wife, Ruth, of St. Louis; five daughters,
Marie Logan and husband, Leon, of Florissant, Mo., Joyce Piekarski and
husband, Bernard, of Sullivan, Oudia Waller of Centralia, Illinois, Debbie
Bonney and husband, George, of Bourbon, Mo., and Annette Waller of Granite
City, Illinois.
Five brothers, Harry Jameson and wife, Phyllis, and Charles, Larry,
Richard, and James Collins; one sister, Helen Collns; one daughter-in-law,
Liz Tranatta; a special friend, Robert Piekarski; twenty-nine
grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other
relatives, and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Waller was preceded in death
by two sons, William James Waller and George Waller, one daughter, Mary Ann
Waller, three brothers, Junior, Edward, and Robert Collins, and three
sisters, Annie McBride, Jessie Campbell, and Peggy Jameson.
Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2002
from the Chapel of the Hassebroek Funeral Home in Sullivan with Rev. Harry
F. Jameson officiating. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation for Nannie R. Waller was from 4:30 until 9 p.m. on Friday,
January 11, 2002 at the Hassebroek Funeral Home in Sullivan.
