Dolores Jean Blunt
Dolores Jean Blunt of Cuba, Missouri was born to the
union of the late Claude E. Shuey and Bernice Shuey (nee Pearson) on
June 3, 1929 in Joplin, Missouri and she left from this life on
Saturday, January 13, 2007 in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 77
years, 7 months and 10 days.
She was united in marriage to the late James T. Blunt on
June 16, 1950 in Cuba, Missouri. To this union three children were
born: Michael, James and Sheila.
Dolores retired from the Missouri Department of Family
Services as a Case Worker. She assisted with caring for the
geriatric and handicapped families of Crawford County. Prior to
working for the State she was in Real Estate Sales having worked for
Bayless & Williams Realty office here in Cuba. She was a member of
the First Presbyterian Church of Cuba. She enjoyed spending time
with her family, taking care of her home and having meals with The
Lunch Bunch from the First Presbyterian Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Claude E. Shuey
and Bernice Shuey (nee Pearson); and husband, James T. Blunt.
Those who remain to continue her legacy and memory are
her two sons, Michael E. (Gail) Blunt of Bourbon, Missouri and James
R. (Bonnie) Blunt of Cuba, Missouri; daughter, Sheila J. (Michael)
Marx of Alpha, Minnesota; two brothers, Rev. William (Gloria) Shuey
of Georgia and Kenneth (Bernice) Shuey of Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 14
great grandchildren and host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Monday, January 15, 2007 from 5-8
p.m. at Britton Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral was held Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at 10 a.m. at
Britton Funeral Home with Rev. William Shuey, officiating.
Gary Ira Licklider
Gary Ira Licklider, Owensville, Missouri, son of Ira and
Lily Etta (McCune) Licklider, was born April 17, 1950 in Washington,
Missouri and passed away Thursday, January 11, 2007 at the age of
56 years.
He served in the U.S. Army, was employed at the Chrysler
Plant, was a member of St. John’s UCC in Bem, Missouri and a member
of UAW Local #110.
He was preceded in death by his mother Lily Licklider.
He is survived by his father Ira Licklider and wife
Bernice of Owensville, Missouri; Connie Winthorst, his first wife
(married on October 16, 1971); by their two children, Sara Licklider
of Sullivan, Missouri and Ryan Licklider of Richland, Missouri,
currently in Iraq.
He is also survived by his wife, Rita Rose, who he
married on June 25, 1995 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in
Bem, Missouri; by her children, Mekala Rooffener and husband Marvin
of Owensville, Missouri, Todd Deppe and wife Melissa of Cuba,
Missouri and Bethany Moore of Owensville, Missouri.
Grandchildren, Coltyn and Paige Garrett, Robert Schmidt,
Cody Rogers, Tyler and Kyle Roofener, Danielle and Carter Deppe,
Bryan and Brent Moore and Joe Enloe.
Brother, Dennis Licklider and wife Roberta of Jefferson
City, Missouri and sisters, Kay Renstrom and husband Art of
Martinsburg, Missouri and Lois Altemeyer and husband Roger of
Owensville, Missouri.
Visitation was Monday, January 15, 2007 at the
Gottenstroeter Funeral Home, Owensville, Missouri.
Funeral service was Tuesday, January 16 at 11 a.m. at
the Gottenstroeter Funeral Home, Owensville, Missouri with Pastor
Kevin Weaver officiating.
Interment was in the Countryside Memorial Gardens,
Owensville, Missouri.
Everett Eugene Phipps
Everett Eugene Phipps, 69, of Cherryville, Missouri,
passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2007. Everett was born Tuesday,
February 2, 1937 in Shirley, Missouri, the son of Harley “Buck” and
Laura (Bohannon) Phipps.
He was united in marriage to Evelyn Mae Wilkinson on
November 7, 1964 in St. Louis, Missouri and to this union three sons
were born.
Everett worked as a lithographer at Western Lithotech
for 32 years retiring in 1997. He was a member of GCIU local #505 in
St. Louis, Missouri.
Everett and Evelyn moved to Cherryville, Missouri in
2001 where they were active in the Center Ridge Pentecostal Church.
He loved fishing, traveling and spending time with the family. Most
of all he liked flea markets, yard sales and junk sales. He loved
his family, his church and will be missed by all who knew and loved
him.
He had a very high respect for God and things of God. He
only had a seventh grade education but in the eyes of his boys, he
was the wisest man they knew. He showed his family love that was
beyond just saying it. He taught his kids how to work and how to
survive. In the highest respect, he will always be the “Ole Man.”
Everett was preceded in death by his parents; one son,
Jeffery Scott Phipps; and one brother-in-law, Lupe Martinez.
Those left to mourn his passing are his wife, Evelyn of
42 years; two sons, Everett Phipps, Jr. and wife Bridget of
Cherryville, Missouri and Darrell Phipps and wife Cindy of Union,
Missouri; two grandchildren, Brianna Phipps and Adam Phipps; one
brother, Donald Phipps and wife Margaret of Sun City Center,
Florida; one sister, Betty Martinez of Oakville, Missouri.
His father-in-law and mother-in-law, Fred and Wilma
Wilkerson of St. Louis, Missouri; two sister-in-laws, Beverly Cotton
and husband George of Lemay, Missouri and Madeline Brandt and
husband Jeff of Lakeland, Florida; and one brother-in-law, Fred
Wilkinson, Jr.
Funeral services for Everett Phipps were conducted
Tuesday, January 9, 2007 in the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home with
Pastor Harrison Brown and Rev. Bob Coleman officiating.
Special music of “I Won’t Have to Cross Jordan Alone,”
“Thank God” and “House of Gold” were sung by Bob and Carol Coleman.
The songs “I Saw the Light” and “Mansion over the Hilltop” were sung
by the congregation.
Committal prayers and burial were conducted by Pastor
Harrison Brown and Rev. Patrick Singleton with Everett Phipps Jr.,
Darrell Phipps, Donald Phipps, Fred Wilkinson Jr., Charles D. Brown
and Dwight Brown serving as casket bearers.
Arrangements were under the direction of the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, Missouri.
