Brown (nee Hill) of Union, Missouri was born on January 28, 1949 in Reno, Nevada to Starr Hill Jr. and Dorothy Hill (nee Peralta) and passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at the age of 64 years. Before moving to Union, Sue was a long-time resident of Webster Groves, Missouri and member of the Webster Groves Herb Society. In addition to being a talented all-around “craftsperson” she was an accomplished fiber artist-spinner, weaver, natural dyer, knitter, crocheter, needle felter, seamstress and art doll creator. Sue was a member of the Franklin County Fiber Guild, Rural Missouri Spinners and the Weavers Guild of St. Louis. She was preceded in death by her father, Starr Hill Jr. She is survived by her husband, Steve Brown of Union, Missouri; two sons, Matt Brown and wife Kathleen of Union, Missouri and Tim Brown of Bourbon, Missouri; one daughter, Stephanie Shaner and husband Bryan of Bourbon, Missouri; mother, Dorothy Hill of Washington, Missouri; three grandchildren, Brianna Brown, Evelyn Shaner and Olin Shaner; other relatives and friends. Steven Boyd Cox Steven Boyd Cox of Springfield, Missouri was born August 18, 1969 in St. Louis, Missouri to Boyd Marion Cox and Martha Ann Smith Cox Martin and passed away Friday, January 17, 2014 at the age of 44 years.  Steven loved listening to music and watching movies. He was preceded in death by his father, Boyd Cox. He is survived by his mother, Martha Ann Martin and husband Clent of Salem, Missouri; two sisters, Missy Mueller and husband Dennis of Sullivan, Missouri and Ellie Louise Weckerly of Salem, Missouri; other relatives and friends. George William Hoehne George William Hoehne of Sullivan, Missouri was born at Altenburg, Missouri on November 25, 1933 to George and Natalie (Fiehler) Hoehne and passed away Monday, January 13, 2014 at the age of 80 years, 1 month and 18 days. As a young man he worked in the timber trade lived in Altenburg area until enlisting in the U.S. Army to serve in the Korean War.  After his honorable discharge, George was employed for a time at McDonnell- Douglas Aircraft Company in St. Louis, Missouri, as a riveter.   George later became employed in the iron ore mining industry as a driller and blaster and later as a miner in the copper mines of New Mexico.   After his retirement and the death of his wife, he moved to the Sullivan area to be closer to his family.  George enjoyed traveling, even worldwide.  He was fond of the outdoors and was an avid deer hunter and fisherman.  He was a man of resilient faith who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ and was a member of Saint Matthew Lutheran Church of Sullivan. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Natalie Hoehne; his wife; three brothers, Charles, Ernest and Richard Hoehne. He is survived by one son, George Keith Hoehne of Bourbon, Missouri; two daughters, Rebecca Hoehne of Gardner, Colorado and Diane Brokowski and husband Ray of Salt Lake City, Utah; one brother, Ralph Hoehne of Uniontown, Missouri; four sisters, Gloria Brothers of Jackson, Missouri, Vera Sandler of Perryville, Missouri, Ruth Frye of Aurora, Missouri and Lillian Casten of Perryville, Missouri; grandchildren; other relatives and friends.   Visitation was held from 9:30-11 a.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri. Laura Frances Jones Laura Frances (Matlock) Jones, of St. James, Missouri was born in St. James on May 8, 1920 to Thomas and Virginia Matlock and passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at the age of 93 years and 8 months. She was married to Melvin Thomas Jones and to this union one son was born. Laura was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church where she served on the Vestry and also as treasurer of the Women’s Guild. She volunteered at the Head Start School for 17 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Virginia Matlock; her husband in 1981, after 42 years; her son, Seth; great grandson, Seth Thornton; sisters, Edith Jenkins and husband Hubert and Juanita Jenkins and husband Carl; brothers, Warren Russell Matlock and Thomas Lewis Matlock, and brother-in-law, Joseph Noakes. Carol Suzanne “Suzy” Hudson Matthews Carol Suzanne “Suzy” Hudson Matthews of St. James, Missouri was born on September 21, 1957 in Charleston, South Carolina to Willard Emerson (Bill) and Helen Mae (Hedy Jane) Hudson and passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at the age of 56 years, 3 months and 24 days. She attended Westminster Christian School and graduated in 1975 and attended the University of Miami and graduated from nursing school in Naples, Florida in 1980.   Suzy was united in marriage to Robert Kenneth (Ken) Matthews in Naples, Florida on May 15, 1962 and they were married for 31 years. Suzy began her nursing career at Naples Community Hospital in January of 1981 and served in oncology, radiology and special procedures.  After moving to St. James, Missouri in 2001, Suzy worked as a nurse at the Missouri Veterans Home.  She was proud to have been named Employee of the Month in 2007, an honor given to the top employee in system of all Veterans Homes in Missouri.  She retired from nursing in 2009 because of health issues. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Helen Hudson; grandparents; her father-in-law, Robert “Bob” Matthews and mother-in-law, Theresa Matthews. Daisy married Carl L. Parrett on May 11, 1967 in Augusta, Missouri. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Steelville, Missouri. She enjoyed doing crafts, woodworking, stripping and refurbishing furniture, raising beautiful flowers and loved cooking. She was preceded in death by her parents, Asa and Mary Mahood; daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Skirvin; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Clarence (Lillian) Parrett, Jeffrey Parrett and Clinton Hewkin. She is survived by her husband, Carl L. Scott Jr. of St. James, Missouri was born in Elkton, Maryland on June 8, 1924 to Clara (McKenzie) and Ira V. Scott Sr. and passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at the age of 89 years. Ira proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Corps from 1942-1946. It was during this time that he would meet the love of his life, Pauletta Brown, known affectionately as “Plutie.” They married on July 27, 1945 in Kansas City, Missouri and to this union two children were born. After serving four years in the Army Air Corps, Ira re-enlisted moving over to the United States Air Force where for the next 20 years he would combine his appreciation for aircraft, the love of travel and move forward in his career.  Ira was a three-war veteran. His 24 years in the military would see him through WWII, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. After he retired he and Plutie loved to travel visiting air museums and family that were scattered across the country. He enjoyed building remote control airplanes, deer hunting, and had a passion for weapons. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clara and Ira Scott Sr.; wife of 64 years, Pauletta Scott in 2009; and his daughter, Theresa Woelfel. He is survived by his son, Robert Scott and wife Hatice of Rolla, Missouri; grandchildren, Matthew, Brandi, Cody, David, Dawn, Scott, Lance and Regina; 16 great grandchildren; sister, Rose Marie Murphy and husband Ray of Elkton, Maryland; other relatives and friends. Trenton was united in marriage to Jessica Nicole Crider on March 14, 2011. He was a boiler maintenance man at the Ozark Mountain Technologies. Robert Eugene “Bobby” Watring Robert Eugene “Bobby” Watring of Leasburg, Missouri was born on March 14, 1956 in Booneville, Missouri and passed away Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 57 years. Bobby worked as a mechanic for Voss Truck Port and most recently for Prickett Trucking Company. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, caving, arrowhead searching, barbequing with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Russell Eugene Watring; one nephew, Stevie Hughes.
