Lida Helen Hall
Lida Helen Hall, 107 years and 9 months, died Saturday,
January 8, 2005, at a Homedale Care Center of natural causes.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, January 15, at
Dakan Funeral Chapel of Parma, Idaho. Burial followed at the Parma
Cemetery.
Lida was born to parents Alice and John Lowery on March
26, 1897. Lida grew up and was educated in Saint Louis, Missouri.
On July 19, 1915, Lida married Herman L. Hall. They
raised their family of seven children in Saint Louis. Their children
are Robert (deceased in 1996), Alice M. Dixon, Helen A. Harding,
Cuba; Rosemary Keller, H. L. "Shorty" Hall, Catherine M. Horn, and
Gerold "Jerry" Hall. The family moved to Parma in 1941, where Lida
continued to make her home.
In 1947, she along with Herman, opened "Hall's Front
Porch" grocery store. They continued to operate their business until
1961 when Herman passed away.
Lida was a member of the Kirkpatrick Memorial Community
Church of Parma, the Rebekah Lodge and Parma Senior Citizens.
Lida resided at the Senior Citizen complex wither
daughter Alice until her health failed.
She is survived by six children; numerous grandchildren,
great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and great great great
grandchildren.
Robert William Pfeiffer
Robert William Pfeiffer was born Friday, February 21, 1919,
in St. Louis, Missouri, a son of the late Robert John Pfeiffer
and Ethel Mae (Skaggs) Pfeiffer.
He departed this life Saturday, January 1, 2005, at his
home in Steelville, Missouri, at the age of 85 years, 10 months and
10 days.
Robert served his country in the United States Navy
enlisting, September 24, 1940. He received an honorable discharge
August 6, 1945. He was awarded a Purple Heart Medal, Good Conduct
Medal, American Defense service Medal, American Campaign Medal,
Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal (with one star), World War II Victory
Medal, Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon Bar and Philippine Liberation
Ribbon.
Robert was an avid swimmer and rescued a comrade from
drowning, Herb Filer of Macon, Georgia. One commendation dated
"February 14, 1945: During the operations off White Beach, Peleliu,
in the latter part of September 1944, the USS Grapple was ordered to
place small craft moorings immediately outside the reef. Through
your leadership and cooperative efforts of the officers and crew,
these vital installations were accomplished under extremely
difficult and hazardous conditions. Due to the fact that it was
necessary to come to a complete stop for long periods of time the
USS GRAPPLE was subject to concentrated enemy action. During the
entire eight hours required for the task your courage, stamina, and
devotion to duty at that crucial time were in keeping with the
highest traditions of the Naval Service. Well done. Thank you all."
Among those who remain to mourn his passing are his
devoted wife of 33 years, Elizabeth Neely Pfeiffer of Steelville,
Missouri; one son, Robert J. Pfeiffer and friend Debbie of San
Diego, California; one daughter, Linda Rushing of St. James,
Missouri; one step-daughter, Linda Smith and husband Dale of
Wentzville, Missouri; three grandchildren, Rodney Smith, Bo Smith
and Robert Rushing; four great grandchildren, other relatives and
many friends.
Robert was a member of VFW Memorial Post #6479, Martha
Mary OES #364, Lebanon Lodge #77, of Steelville, Missouri; also a
Master of the Royal Secret of the 32rd Degree of Ancient and
Accepted Scottish Rite.
Memorial services for Robert William Pfeiffer were held
2 p.m. Saturday, January 22, 2005, at the First Assembly of God,
Steelville, Missouri with Pastor Jerry Beers officiating.
Musical selections were provided by vocalist Gary
Hardecke and pianist Sharon Hardecke.
Military honors were provided by Kenneth Brown, Jim
Cain, Don Gummersheimer, Larry Lewis, Bud Obermiller, JoAnn and
Ronald WaIler, members of American Legion and VFW Memorial Post
#6479, Steelville.
Inurnment was in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery,
St. Louis, Missouri, on Monday, January 24, 2005. Arrangements were
entrusted to the care of Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville,
Missouri.
Alberta Roth
Alberta Roth nee Revelle of Cuba, Missouri was born on
March 4, 1910 at Fredricktown, Missouri to the union of Jeffery
Revelle and Cora Revelle and passed away on January 17, 2005 at the
Phelps County Regional Medical Center of Rolla, Missouri at the age
of 94 years 10 months and 13 days.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one infant son
Dale Clark, one daughter Edna M. Summers, five brothers Andy,
Hubert, Virgil, John and Clyde Revelle and one sister Irene Smith.
Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life
are her loving sons Dewayne Wisdom and wife Karen and Junior Denton
Powell and wife Wilma; special friend Ruth Hendrickson; eight
grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; great great grandchildren;
nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Alberta was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great
grandmother, great great grandmother, sister, good friend to all who
knew her and will be sadly missed.
Alberta Roth nee Revelle was in state at the Britton
Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri where funeral services were held on
Wednesday, January 19, 2005 at 2 p.m. with Bob Coleman officiating.
Interment was in the Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.
Pallbearers were Denny Powell, Craig Clemons, John
Wisdom, Mike Summers, Jerry Summers and Wesley Wisdom.
All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton
Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.
Teresa (Donahoe) Stair
Memorial services for Teresa Kathleen (Donahoe) Stair,
83, formerly of Cuba, who died Saturday, December 25, 2004 at the
Anna Dodson Home at Farmington, Mo. will be held at 10 a.m.
Saturday, January 29, 2005 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in
Cuba.
Father James Finder of Holy Cross will officiate. Burial
will be in the Ozark Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Rolla. The family
requests that flowers not be sent.
Teresa was born January 24, 1921 at Rocky Ford,
Colorado. She attended Visitation Catholic School in St. Louis, and
graduated in 1939 from high school at Steelville, Mo. In 1941, she
completed training at the DePaul School of Nursing in St. Louis.
She lived at Meta, Mo. during her early married life.
She later lived in Cuba on and off for many years. She attended Holy
Cross Catholic Church while in Cuba. She had lived at the Anna
Dodson Home since June 24, 1981.
In the early 1940's, she worked for the Selective
Service at its Crawford County Board office at Steelville.
She married Wilson A. Stair on January 5, 1945 in Enid,
Oklahoma. He died in 1984. She was also preceded in death by her
parents, Pearl (Edgar) and Raymond P. Donahoe; a sister, Louise
(Donahoe) Schropp; and a brother, Raymond "Bud" Donahoe.
Survivors include four sons and two daughters-in-law,
Wilson A. and Jan Stair, St. Petersburg, Florida, Michael and Paula
Stair, Joplin, Mo., Dwight Stair, Rolla, Mo. and Stephen Watmore,
Arlington, Virginia; a sister, Margaret (Donahoe) McKinstry, DeSoto,
Mo.; a brother, Pat Donahoe, Cuba; two grandsons Tyler Stair and
Zane Stair, both of Joplin; and 23 nieces and nephews.
