Marie H. Groom
Marie H. Groom (nee Cox), aged 72, of Fairview Heights, passed away
Saturday, January 25, 2003 at Belleville Memorial Hospital.
She was a retired cook for St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy L. Groom, her parents,
Edward and Iva (nee Callahan) Cox, two brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Sally (Lonnis) Cook, Sr. of
Belleville and Mrs. Renea (James) Saurwein of Belleville; four sons, Terry
and Judith Groom of Belleville, Wayne and Susan Groom of Okawville,
Illinois, Vern and Audrey Groom of Belleville and Glenn and Karen Groom of
Cuba, Mo.
Fourteen grandchildren, Lonnis and Amy Cook, Jr., Brad and Kathy Cook, Joel
Groom, Wendy Groom, Ryan Groom, Randall Groom, Amy Erbacher, Steven Groom,
Jeremy Groom, Nicholas Groom, Courtney Groom, Joshua Groom, Erin and Chris
Rittenhouse and James Saurwein.
Three great grandchildren, Cameron and Logan Cook, Kodie Groom and Cheyenne
Groom; two brothers, Jerry Cox of Alton and Emery Cox of Granite City; two
sisters Hazel Hurst of Hitchcock, Texas and Ruby Ray of Reed Springs, Mo.
Visitation was held Monday, January 27, 2003 at Valhalla Holten Funeral
Home, 3412 Frank Scott Parkway West, Belleville from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Services were held at Valhalla Holten Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Monday with
interment in Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville.
