Lawrence Norman Koerber
Lawrence Norman Koerber of St. James, Missouri was born December 31, 1935 at
Vienna, Missouri to Lewis H. “Bud” and Maudie Rhea French Koerber and passed
away Friday January 28, 2011 at his home in St. James, Missouri at that age
of 75 years.
Lawrence was united in marriage to Ann Marriott in Sheffield, England on
May 7, 1961.
Lawrence retired from U.S. Air Force after 29 years of service as a Chief
Master Sergeant. He was a life member V.F.W post 5608 of St. James and the
American Legion Post 607 of St. James. Lawrence was an avid fisherman and
rabbit hunter and enjoyed being with his grandchildren family and friends,
and volunteering at the Missouri Veterans Home.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Koerber of St. James, Missouri; son, Darrel
Koerber of Columbus, Ohio; daughter, Shelly Luetkemeyer and husband Paul of
Bellville, Illinois; brothers, Leslie “Butch” Koerber and wife Marlene of
St James, Missouri and Joe Koerber and wife Rosemary of Troy, Illinois;
sisters, Viola Anderson and husband Charles of Troy Missouri, Bonnie Dillon
and husband Roy of St. James, Missouri, Sharon Sullivan and husband Bill of
Lee Summit, Missouri and Sandy Elliott and husband Rick of Fulton,
Missouri; special grandchildren, Melanie Koerber and Owen and Claire
Luetkemeyer.
Visitation was held Sunday, January 30, 2011 from 5-8 p.m.
Funeral service was conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 31, 2011 at the
Trinity Episcopal Church in St. James with Steve Barber officiating.
Pallbearers were Terry Dillon, Greg Dillon, Scott Anderson, Bob Anderson,
Charles Anderson and Bruce Koerber.
Burial was held Tuesday February 1, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Jefferson
Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in St. James,
Missouri.
Lenore “Lee” Marie Menz
Lenore “Lee” Marie Menz, 62, of Owensville, Missouri was born in St. Louis,
Missouri on March 22, 1948, to Mercedes (Krul) and Leonard H. Eiler and
passed away Saturday, January 29, 2011 at her residence at the age of
62 years, 10 months and seven days.
On May 6, 1972 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Owensville
she was united in marriage to Thomas Menz.
She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she
belonged to the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and had served as
Parish Council President. She had been Lay Director for the Teens Encounter
Christ Movement for the Diocese of Jefferson City.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas of Owensville, Missouri; children,
John Menz and wife Karen of St. Louis, Missouri and Sarah Williams and
husband Corey of St. James, Missouri; brother, Stephen Eiler and wife Mary
Lee of Owensville, Missouri; sisters, Mercedes Knese and husband Tom of
St. Louis, Missouri, Barbara Schiller and husband Fred of Punta Gorda,
Florida, Pamela Dorrough and husband Rick of Owensville, Missouri and Mary
Beth Schneider and husband Arvel Lee of Owensville, Missouri; four
grandchildren, Thomas and Emilee Williams and Lucas and Amy Menz; other
relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, February 1 at 10:30 a.m. at
the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Owensville, Missouri with
Fr. Jeremy Secrist and Fr. Greg Higley officiating.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
Arrangements under the direction of the Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in
Owensville, Missouri.
Lois Jean Mullen
Lois Jean Mullen of Cuba, Missouri was born on Tuesday, December 19, 1933
in St. Louis, Missouri to James Paul and Rose B. Clark Morgan and passed
away on Monday, January 24, 2011 at the age of 77 years, 1 month and 5
days.
Jean married Donald E. Mullen on March 4, 1950 in St. Louis, Missouri and
to this union three children were born.
She received her Cosmetologist license in St. Louis, Missouri where she
styled hair for several years. Her hobbies were working in her flower
garden, playing with her dogs, riding and showing horses. She loved her
family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Rose Morgan; son,
James E. Mullen; brother-in-law, Lawrence Edward (Alma) Mullen;
sister-in-law, Wilma Mullen; cousins Betty Jane King and Betty Jo Price.
She is survived by her husband, Don Mullen; daughters, Gloria Jean
(Charles) Schroeder of Cuba, Missouri and Donna Sue (Joe) Hoener of
Columbia, Missouri; brothers-in-law, Wayne (Joy) Mullen of Woodbury,
Tennessee and Clinton (Judy) Mullen of Mulvane, Kansas; sister-in-law,
Delores (Bill) Jones of Maryland Heights, Missouri; grandchildren, Jenny
(Bryan) Webster of Stanton, Missouri, Julie (Shannon) Doyle of Owensville,
Missouri, Zach (Cheryl) Hoener of St. James, Missouri and Sybil Schlater
(Holly) of Columbia, Missouri; great grandchildren Ashley, Amanda, Austin,
C.J., Ryan, Morgan, Manny and Adam; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was Thursday, January 27, 2011 from 9:30-11 a.m. and funeral
service at 11 a.m. at the Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri with
Rev. Spencer Hutson officiating.
Burial was at the Lick Creek Cemetery, Leasburg, Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba,
Missouri.
Dora E. Sands
Dora E. Sands of Rolla, Missouri was born on July 25, 1927 in Phelps County,
Missouri to Frank and Rhoda Jane (Turner) Queen and passed away Sunday,
January 23, 2011 at the age of 83 years.
She was a member of the Church of Christ on Hwy. E in Rolla, Missouri.
She enjoyed reading her Bible and praising the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Rhoda Queen; three
brothers, Carl, Arthur and Everett Queen; granddaughter, Lori Sands; and
daughter-in-laws, Phyllis Sands and Patricia Sands.
She is survived by one daughter, Charlotte White and husband Edwin of
Newburg, Missouri; five sons, Larry Sands Sr. of Rolla, Missouri, Steve
Sands and wife Marilyn of St. Paul, Minnesota, Ricky Sands of Rolla,
Missouri, Mike Sands and wife Pat of Owensville, Missouri and Jerry Sands
of Rolla, Missouri; one brother, Jimmy Queen of Rolla, Missouri; two
sisters, Lena Mae Eads and Emma Stephenson of St. James, Missouri; nine
grandchildren, Sonya Ballard, Christy Yelton, Larry Sands Jr., Daniel
Sands, Ginny Wyatt, Jason Sands, Brandi Sands, Jeff Sands and Michael
Sands Jr.; 19 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at the
Null and Son Funeral Home in Rolla, Missouri.
Funeral service was at 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at the Null
and Son Funeral Home in Rolla, Missouri with Rev. Richard Miller
officiating.
Interment followed in the Roach Cemetery.
Arrangements under the direction of the Null and Son Funeral Home in
Rolla, Missouri.
Eleanor M. Simmerly
Eleanor M. Simmerly nee Hoerath of Bourbon, Missouri was born on Monday,
June 10, 1918 in Beaufort, Missouri to Fritz and Ida C. Hertlein Hoerath
and passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at the age of 92 years, 7 months
and 15 days.
Eleanor married Morris Simmerly on June 5, 1942 at the First United
Methodist Church Parsonage at Bourbon, Missouri and to this union three
daughters were born.
Eleanor was employed as a clerk on August 1, 1936 and retired on
July 1, 1983 from Paramount Apparel, Bourbon, Missouri. She was a weekly
volunteer at the Christian Thrift Store at Bourbon, Missouri. She was a
member of the First United Methodist Church, Bourbon, Missouri where she was
active in the Women’s Club. She also was a member of the Rebekahs Lodge #319
and Stringtown Home Club. Her hobbies were gardening, sewing, cooking and
especially known for her cinnamon rolls.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fritz and Ida Hoerath; husband,
Morris; daughter, Connie Kell and brother, Herman Hoerath.
She is survived by her daughters, Bonnie (Gary) Peterson of Bourbon,
Missouri and Kathy (Barry) West of Leasburg, Missouri; son-in-law,
Rev. David Kell and daughter-in-law, Rev. Barbara Kell of Lansing,
Illinois; grandchildren, Christopher (Kim) Peterson and Sarah (Jeff) Lappe,
all of Bourbon, Missouri, Alison (Ken) Elliott of Sparta, Wisconsin, Grant
West of St. Peters, Missouri, Vanessa Kell of Lyons, Illinois and Kevin
Kell of Portland, Oregon; five great grandchildren; other relatives and
friends.
Visitation was Thursday, January 27, 2011 from 5-8 p.m. at First United
Methodist Church, Bourbon, Missouri.
Funeral service was at 11 a.m. Friday, January 28, 2011 at First United
Methodist Church, Bourbon, Missouri with Pastor Judy Jeffery officiating.
Burial at Bourbon Cemetery, Bourbon, Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba,
Missouri.
