Barbara Ann Brooks
Barbara Ann Brooks, 68, of Salem, Missouri died Tuesday,
January 23, 2006 at the Salem Memorial Hospital. She was born April
5, 1937 at Elvins, Missouri, a daughter of the late William Ray and
Margaret Lucille Moss (nee Chapman).
She was united in marriage to James E. Brooks, Sr. on
September 16, 1952 at Pocahontas, Arkansas. To this union seven sons
and two daughters were born. They shared 38 years together until
James preceded her in death on December 6, 1990.
In addition to her parents and husband James, Barbara
was preceded in death by two sons, James Estol Brooks, Jr. and
Michael Guy Brooks.
She is survived by two daughters, Wanda Sue Hogue of
Phelps County and Jamia Darlene and husband Daniel Sharpe of Salem,
Missouri; five sons, Danny Ray Brooks and wife Joyce of Cook
Station, Missouri, Leslie Dean Brooks and Alice of Bonne Terre,
Missouri, Jeffery T. Brooks and wife Penny of Birmingham, Alabama,
Darrell Wayne Brooks and Tony Lee Brooks, both of Cherryville,
Missouri.
Two brothers, Haskell L. Moss and wife Lois of Cabool,
Missouri and William R. Moss and wife Daphene of Elvins, Missouri;
one sister, Rebekah J. Montgomery and husband Monty of Mesa,
Arizona; 27 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews,
cousins and many friends.
Barbara Ann Brooks lay in state from 6-8 p.m. Friday,
January 27, 2006 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home where services
were held in the chapel at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2006 with
Rev. Mark Moss and Rev. Bob Coleman officiating. Music selections
were provided by Rev. Bob Coleman and his wife Carol.
Serving as pallbearers were Irvin Dale Brooks, Richard
Hogue, Phillip Moss, Jason White, Trent Books and Haskel Stegall
with burial in the New Home Cemetery, Keysville, Missouri.
Ben LeRoy Chew, Jr.
Ben LeRoy Chew, Jr. of St. James, Missouri was born on
October 4, 1974 at Sullivan, Missouri to the union of Ben LeRoy, Sr.
and Arbell (nee Turnbough) Chew and left from this life on Saturday,
January 28, 2006 at rural Phelps County, Missouri at the age of 31
years 3 months and 24 days.
Ben was married to Amy Marcus on October 1, 1994 at St.
James, Missouri and to this union two children were born: Kaitlin
Marie and Levi Garrett Chew.
Ben worked at the Wal-Mart Distribution Center in St.
James, Missouri since 2001. He was a member of the First Church of
God in St. James, member of the Freedom of the Road Riders Buckhorn
Chapter, truly enjoyed hunting, fishing and just being in the
country, but his first priority was being the world's best dad and
husband.
Ben is preceded in death by his grandparents and a host
of other relatives.
Those who survive to mourn his passing are his wife Amy;
daughter, Kaitlin Marie Chew; son, Levi Garrett Chew; his parents,
Ben LeRoy, Sr. and Arbell Chew; five sisters, Debbie and husband
Jerry Furman, Donna and husband Robin McDaniel, Margie and husband
Jamie Farmer, Tammy and husband Billy Portner and Tresa and husband
Jimmy McCaskill.
Father and mother-in-law, James and Barb Marcus;
sister-in-law, Michelle and husband Keith Losing;
grandparents-in-law, Jim and Margaret Marcus; and many nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ben was a loving husband, greatest dad, #1 son, spoiled
brother and wonderful son-in-law, grandson-in-law, brother-in-law,
uncle, relative and friend to many and will be deeply missed by all
who knew and loved him.
Visitation was held Monday, January 30, 2006 from 5-8
p.m. at Britton Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri. Funeral service was
held Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Britton Funeral Home,
Cuba, Missouri with Brother Don Carson and Robin McDaniel
officiating.
Serving as pallbearers were Leon Callahan, Chad Guese,
Hac Bridgeman, Eric Foster, Joe Eaton, Troy Richardson, George Bacon
and Joey Myers.
Burial followed at Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba,
Missouri, with the Freedom of the Road Riders leading the procession
to the cemetery.
A trust fund for Kaitlin and Levi Chew has been set up
at Town & Country Bank, 323 N. Jefferson, St. James, MO 65559.
Beatrice "Bea" Flora Forster
Beatrice "Bea" Flora Forster of Cuba, Missouri was born
on December 14, 1924 at Rosebud, Missouri to the union of Jake and
Susan (nee Morgan) Garrett and left from this life on Sunday,
January 29, 2006 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri at
the age of 81 years 1 month and 15 days.
Bea was united in marriage to Charles Forster on January
9, 1954 at Hernando, Mississippi. Charles passed away May 5, 1992.
Bea had been a kitchen assistant for many years and was
of the Baptist faith her whole life and member of the VFW Post #7147
Ladies Auxiliary.
Those who preceded her in death are her parents, husband
and two brothers, Freddie Garrett and Marion Garrett.
Those who are left to mourn her passing are her sisters,
Rosa Seddon of St. James, Missouri, Marie Neidert of St. James,
Missouri; brother, Lyndon Morgan of Owensville, Missouri; and a host
of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Bea was a loving wife, daughter, sister, sister-in-law,
aunt and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved
her.
Visitation was held Tuesday, January 31, 2006 from 6-8
p.m. at Britton Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri with a 7 p.m. VFW
Ladies Auxiliary service. Funeral service was held on Wednesday,
February 1 at 11 a.m. at Britton Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri.
Burial followed in Kinder Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.
Alice Mathilda Licklider
Alice Mathilda Licklider of Cuba, Missouri was born
November 29, 1915 in St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Henry
Peeters and Lydia (nee Klaus) Peeters and left from this life on
Sunday, January 22, 2006 in New Haven, Missouri at the age of 90
years 1 month and 23 days.
Alice was united in marriage to Leonard M. Licklider on
June 18, 1938 in St. Louis, Missouri and to this union three
daughters were born: Lori, Louise, Shirley and one son: Ronald.
Alice is preceded in death by her parents, her husband
Leonard, one brother Oliver Peeters and an infant sister Virginia
Peeters.
She was a member of Trinity Chapel, Trinity Quilters
Guild and a past president of the Extension Club.
Alice was a wonderful cook and enjoyed quilting.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother,
mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, sister,
sister-in-law, aunt and friend to all who knew and loved her. She
will be deeply missed.
Those who are left to mourn her passing are her three
daughters, Lori Graves and husband Joe, Louise Gilbert, Shirley
Schmidt and husband Peter; one son, Ronald Licklider and wife Vicki.
Two sisters, Pearl Kiefer and Florence Smith and one
brother, Gilbert Peeters. Eleven grandchildren and 24 great
grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and
friends.
Visitation was held Wednesday, January 25, 2006 from 2-8
p.m. at Britton Funeral Home, Cuba. Funeral service was held 11 a.m.
Thursday, January 25, 2006 at Britton Funeral Home with Pastor Gary
Mace officiating. Burial followed in Licklider Cemetery, Cuba,
Missouri.
Reverdy Martellaro
Reverdy Martellaro of Cuba was born April 12, 1924 in
Dexter, Missouri to the union of Brown Reed Camp and Mae Belle (nee
Hill) Camp and left from this life on Wednesday, January 25, 2006 in
Cuba, Missouri at the age of 81 years 9 months and 13 days.
Reverdy was united in marriage to Peter J. Martellaro on
October 11, 1941 in Arnold, Missouri. To this union one son, Joseph,
was born.
Reverdy was the owner/operator of Peter J's store at
Indian Hills for 20 years. She worked as a dental assistant in
Virginia before moving to Indian Hills and was a member of Holy
Cross Catholic Church of Cuba.
Reverdy is preceded in death by her parents and husband
Peter, who passed away on September 3, 2004.
Reverdy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great
grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all who knew her and she
will be deeply missed.
Those who survive to mourn her passing are her one son,
Joseph D. and wife Penney Martellaro of Cuba, Missouri; two
grandchildren, Peter (Lisa) Martellaro of Cuba, Missouri and Susan
(Steven) Chambers of Colorado; and one great grandchild, Toni
Martellaro of Cuba, Missouri.
One brother, Kenneth and wife Veronica Camp; one sister,
Revalee Camp of Cuba, Missouri; one nephew, Larry (Nancy) Jinkerson
of Cuba, Missouri; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services were held at Jefferson Barracks
National Cemetery, Jefferson Barracks, Missouri. Services were under
the direction of Britton Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri.
Charles R. Medlock Sr.
Charles R. Medlock, Sr., son of Charles Medlock and Okus
(Nelson) Medlock, was born on September 25, 1925 in Salem, Missouri
and passed away in Farmington, Missouri on January 21, 2006 at the
age of 80 years, 3 months and 26 days.
Charles was married to Virginia (Gibbs) Medlock on May
3, 1946 and two children were born to this union.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia, of the home in
Cuba, Missouri; his daughter Marilyn K. Gerken of Florissant,
Missouri and son, Charles R. Medlock, Jr., and wife, Lisa, of
Farmington, Missouri.
Grandchildren, Alicia Cameron, Aaron Mitchell, Brian
Medlock, Corey Ruideger, Amy Huffman and Amanda Medlock; great
grandchildren, Nicholas Medlock, Alec Huffman, Molly Huffman, Payton
Ruideger, Nathan Cameron and Collin Cameron.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Okus
Medlock; brothers, Harvey Medlock and Winford Medlock; sisters, Lois
Hulsey and Gladys.
Charles owned his own electronics repair business and
when he retired he and Virginia did some over the road trucking. He
was a member of the Shriners, Cuba V.F.W., the Masonic Lodge, Cuba
Lodge 3112, and Scottish Rite of St. Louis. He served his country as
a member of the United States Navy during World War II and the
Korean Conflict.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great
grandfather, and friend to many. He will be greatly missed by his
family and all who knew and loved him.
Graveside service for Charles R. Medlock, Sr., was held
on Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at the Cedar Grove Cemetery, Salem,
Missouri with Ken Fiebelman officiating and family members serving
as pallbearers.
Full military honors were provided by American Legion
Post #99 of Salem.
All arrangements were under the direction of the James
and Gahr Mortuary of Salem.
Susan Charlotte Robinson
Susan Charlotte (Andrews) Robinson was born September
13, 1945, to Richard and Grace Andrews of St Louis, Missouri. She
graduated from Hazelwood High School and attended St Luke's School
of Nursing.
In 1981, Sue moved to Wisconsin to marry her husband
Ron. Sue was employed as secretary to the director of public works
for the City of Menasha. She retired from there in November of 1987.
She then moved to upstate New York, where she could be
near her sister Carol. In 1994 she and her husband moved to Cuba,
Missouri, where they resided until her death on January 25. 2006.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, an infant
brother and an infant daughter.
She will be sorely missed by her husband Ron; sister,
Carol and her husband Roy Williams of Pittsford, New York; nephew,
Richard L. Williams of Ontario, New York; nieces, Stacey Williams of
Macedon, New York, and Heather and Glen Glanzel of Walworth, New
York; great nephews and nieces and her many good friends.
Sue was known to adopt total strangers and take in stray
animals, she was forever helping others even when she was in worse
straights than the one being helped.
A memorial gathering of friends was held on Saturday,
January 28 from noon to 2 p.m., followed by 2 p.m. Memorial Service
at Britton Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri.
