MO Local Obituaries for the Week updated February 2, 2007 Hester Amelia Chrapek Hester Amelia Chrapek, daughter of the late William and Carrie Cooksey, was born March 19, 1937 in Sligo, Missouri and passed away Saturday, January 6, 2007 in St. Louis, Missouri. Hester grew up in Sligo and attended Cherryville High School. After graduation she attended Miss Hickey’s Secretarial School in St. Louis, Missouri. She was employed by various loan and legal offices as a secretary. Her interests included gardening, both flowers and vegetables, as well as sewing and quilting. She greatly enjoyed her family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward F. Chrapek Sr.; sister, Helen Cooksey and brother, Kenneth Cooksey. She is survived by children, John and Teri Griggs, Sharon Griggs and Danny Arnold, Linda and Jim Garrison and Edward F. Chrapek Jr.; grandchildren, Candace, Carly, Catrina, John Jr., Tiffany, Amber, Mandy, Matthew and Jason; sister, Ruth Bell; many other relatives and friends. Interment was in the Jefferson Barricks National Cemetery. America “Mickie” Victory Enloe America “Mickie” Victory Enloe of Cuba, Missouri, passed away Monday, January 22, 2007 in the Cuba Manor Nursing Home, where she had been a resident for the last six years. She was 88 years of age. Mickie was born on November 20, 1918 in St. Louis, Missouri. She is the daughter of the late William Frederick Sever and Mary Margaret Stockton Sever. Mickie was joined in marriage to Leonard Blackwell and to this union a son, Gary and a daughter, Mary were born. Leonard passed away in 1954. Mickie worked in the International Shoe Factory in Bland, Missouri; as a beautician and a teacher in the State School in Linn, Missouri. On March 12, 1967 she was married to Louis Enloe in Belle, Missouri. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Shane Jarvis; two brothers, William and Robert Sever and two sisters, Jodie Weeks and Edna Russell. She is survived by her husband Louis; son Gary Blackwell and wife Fay of Columbia, Missouri; daughter, Mary Duryee of Cuba, Missouri. Also surviving are Louis’ children, Sandra Enloe of St. Louis, Missouri, Joyce Strain and husband Doyel of Ferguson, Missouri, John Enloe and wife Barb of Ellisville, Missouri, Patricia Enloe of St. Louis, Missouri, Jill Henry and husband Phil of Orlando, Florida and Jack Enloe and wife Janet of Caseyville, Illinois. Visitation was Tuesday, January 23, 2007 after 4 p.m. Funeral services were Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at 11 a.m. from the Sassmann’s Chapel in Bland, Missouri. Interment was in the Bland Union Cemetery, Bland, Missouri. Christopher James Kelleher Christopher James Kelleher of Cuba, Missouri was born on Friday, January 17, 1930 at St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Homer T. and Helen (nee Broski) Kelleher and left from this life on Wednesday, January 24 at Waynesville, Missouri at the age of 77 years and 7 days. Chris served in the United States Marine Corps twice. He enlisted on January 23, 1947 at St. Louis, Missouri and was discharged January 22, 1950 as a Corporal at Marine Barracks, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He then re-enlisted January 23, 1950 in North Carolina and was discharged January 22, 1953 as a Sergeant in Chicago, Illinois. Chris received the “Commendation Ribbon with Combat “V” on November 30, 1951 for “excellent service in the line of his profession while serving with a Marine infantry battalion during operations against the enemy.” After serving in the Marine Corps Chris returned to St. Louis, Missouri and started working for the local union as a carpenter. He worked there from 1953 until he joined the iron workers union Local 396 in St. Louis. He helped build the Arch, most of bridges in and around the St. Louis area, the telephone company building and many more places. He was the youngest “Certified” welder with the Local 396 for many years. He retired in 1994 after 36 plus years of dedicated service. Chris was united in marriage in 1978 to Betsy Ann Argent. They moved to Cuba after Chris retired. He was a member of the Cuba VFW Post 7147. For the past six years Chris and Betsy would bake over a thousand cookies and individually wrap each of them and take them to the veterans at the St. James Veteran’s Home for their family Christmas program. Chris received the “Missouri Korean War Medallion” in 2004 signed by Gov. Bob Holden. Chris is preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Helen Kelleher and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to mourn his passing are his loving wife, Betsy Ann Kelleher of the home; seven children, Vickie Kelleher, Christopher J. Kelleher, Jr., Michelle and husband Jim Gruele, Cindy Copeland, William and wife Lisa Kelleher and Brian and wife Paige Kelleher, all of the state of California and Craig Kelleher of the state of Illinois. Two step children, Charles H. and wife Ann Smith and Susan Kim Smith both of St. Louis, Missouri; 17 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one sister, Theresa and husband Bob Shram of the state of Missouri; one sister-in-law, Mary and husband John Burlison of Owensville, Missouri; and many other relatives and friends. Graveside services 2 p.m. Saturday, January 27, 2007 at Meramec Hills Cemetery with full Military Honors. Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri. Helen Edna Turnbough Helen Edna Turnbough, 81, of Steelville, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at the Cuba Manor in Cuba, Missouri. She was born Tuesday, May 12, 1925 to parents Walter and Edna Pyatt Brown. She was united in marriage to Roy Turnbough on December 20, 1941 in Steelville, Missouri and to this union three sons and one daughter were born. After 63 years of marriage, Roy preceded her in death on November 27, 2004. “Nan” as Helen was called by all who loved her enjoyed her family and life. She was a member of the Steelville Country Club for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; one grandson, Joseph Richard Turnbough Jr.; one great grandson, Brenden Wilson; one brother, Hershel Harris, four brothers-in-law, Richard Turnbough, Troy Turnbough, Leahman Pierce and Jake Turnbough; one sister-in-law, Geraldine Turnbough. She is survived by three sons, Joe Turnbough and wife Betty of Cherryville, Missouri, Jerry Turnbough and wife Teal of Cuba, Missouri and Ronnie Turnbough of Cuba, Missouri; one daughter, Vickey Gilliam and husband Bill of Steelville, Missouri; very special friends, Charles and Cathy Breeden of Wentzville, Missouri. Twelve grandchildren, Tammie and husband Doug Nix, Keith Turnbough, Josephe Bass, Scott and wife Shannon Bass, Sherrie and husband David Wilson, Jerry and wife Cheryl Turnbough, Terry and wife Pattie Turnbough, Michael Turnbough, Tyler Turnbough, Alycen Turnbough, Lisa and husband Ronny Weber and Tina Turnbough. Two great great grandchildren, Kirsten Rae and Chase Michael Nix; three sisters, Mae Farrar of Bourbon, Missouri, Virgie Santambrogio and husband Bob of Steelville and Isolene Kuenz and husband Frank of Channelview, Texas; two brothers-in-law, Ellis Turnbough and wife Dawn of Davisville, Missouri and Lawrence Turnbough and wife Bonnie of Davisville, Missouri; three sisters-in-law, Bonnie Welker and husband Dale of Potosi, Missouri, Dorothy Pierce of St. Louis, Missouri and Rosalene Turnbough of Davisville, Missouri. Funeral services were held Friday, January 26, 2007 in the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home with Rev. John Slade and Rev. Gene Thrasher officiating. Special remembrances of Helen were given by Charles Breeden. Special music of “Amazing Grace,” “How Great Thou Art” and “Mama’s Hands” were sung by Bob and Carol Coleman. Committal prayers and burial was in the Davisville Cemetery in Davisville, Missouri with Joe Turnbough, Jerry Turnbough, Doug Nix Jr., Josh Nix, Jerry Turnbough Jr., Joseph Bass, Keith Turnbough, Travis Nix and Terry Turnbough serving as casketbearers. Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Bill Worley Bill Worley of Steelville, Missouri, was born on Friday, April 1, 1921 in Cherryville, Missouri to Morris A. Worley and Ester R. Eaton Worley. He passed away at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, Missouri on Friday, January 26, 2007 at the age of 85 years, 9 months and 25 days. Bill served his country honorably in the United States Navy during World War II. He later married Betty Jane Pinnell on November 1, 1952. He worked as a machinist for Steelville Manufacturing until his retirement. He was a member of the Centerpoint Baptist Church and the Masonic Lebanon Lodge #77. His hobbies were fishing and camping. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Willard Worley and Willis Worley; sisters, Edith Worley, Erma Wisdom and husband Orville (Doc); sisters-in-law, Catherine Pinnell and Eva Pinnell; brothers-in-law, Lindell Hinch and Leroy Pinnell. He is survived by his wife Betty Worley of the home; children, Dennis and wife Sandi Worley of Austin, Texas and Kathy and husband Jim Voss of Washington, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Gloria Worley of Cuba, Missouri, Georgetta Worley of Festus, Missouri, Cathy Pinnell and Anna Hinch of Steelville, Missouri; brother-in-law, Ralph Pinnell of Cuba, Missouri. Funeral service was Monday, January 29, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Delmar B. Hutson and Rev. Matt Cook officiating. Burial was in the Liberty Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri with full military honors. Pallbearers were Jim, Mark and Kurt Voss, Matt and Mike Worley and Henry Isgriggs. Arrangements were under the direction of the Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
