Larry Dean Byers
Larry Dean Byers of Potosi, Missouri (rural Sullivan, Missouri) was born
September 12, 1946 at Irondale, Missouri to John Rubert and Burene Gladys
(Horton) Byers and passed away Monday, January 25, 2010 at the age of 63
years.
He graduated from Sullivan, High School in 1964. He loved working on cars
with his twin brother, Gary. He also had a love for motorcycles and
airplanes. He was a laborer with Local 840 and worked with general
contractors in construction. He was known for his humor and jokes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Burene Byers and a sister,
Donita Hardy.
He is survived by his twin brother, Gary Byers and wife Janet of Sullivan,
Missouri; two sisters, Virginia Livell and husband Jack of Sullivan,
Missouri and Frances Hardin and husband David of Manchester, Missouri;
brother-in-law, Ron Hardy and wife Sally of Sullivan, Missouri; other
relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 4:30 until time of service at 7 p.m. Wednesday,
January 27, 2010 from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan,
Missouri with Michael Delashmit officiating.
Arrangements under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan,
Missouri.
Gene Gapsch
Gene Charles Gapsch of Anutt, Missouri was born October 8, 1938 in
St. Louis, Missouri to Gustave and Louise (Scheidt) Gapsch and passed away
on Monday January 25, 2010 at Salem Memorial Hospital at the age of 71.
Gene loved to be on his farm and he loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed going
to his place at the lake with his grandkids or his fishing buddies. He also
went to Branson as often as he could.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gustave and Louise Gapsch; his wife
of 50 years, Nancy Gapsch; two grandchildren, Sarah Kirkpatrick and Robert
Gapsch, Jr. and his sister, Marlene Toth of Ashland, Missouri.
He is survived by two daughters, Jeannie Gapsch of St. Louis, Missouri and
Mary Gapsch of Vienna, Missouri; one son, Robert Gapsch and Sandra Sellers
of Davisville, Missouri; grandchildren, Jeremy Kirkpatrick, James Gapsch,
Jacob Gapsch, Ricky Kussman, Lacey Gapsch and Madison Gapsch; great
grandchildren, Tyler, Ashley, Lane, Vanesa, Braiden; other relatives and
friends.
Visitation was held Saturday, January 30, 2010 at James & Gahr Mortuary in
Rolla, Missouri from 10 a.m. to noon. Funeral services followed with Pastor
Chuck Cook officiating.
Internment was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Salem, Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the James & Gahr Mortuary.
Catherine N. House
Catherine N. House of St. James, Missouri was born in Vermont, Illinois on
March 29, 1919 to Herbert and Martha (Anderson) Bonham and passed away
January 26, 2010 in Rolla, Missouri at the age of 90.
She was united in marriage to Frank House in Waco, Texas on January 3, 1943
and to this union five children were born.
Catherine was a member of the First Baptist Church of St. James, Missouri.
She enjoyed cooking, gardening, playing Bridge with the girls and her
family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Martha Bonham; husband,
Frank; daughters, Martha Claus and Cathy Wallace; brothers, Max Herbert,
Harold, Charlie and Vic Bonham and a sister, Inez Babineau.
She is survived by her children, Eddie House and wife Lois of St. James,
Missouri, Jeane Auxier and husband Sam of St. James, Missouri, Jimmy House
and friend Ellen Greer of St. James, Missouri; brother, Gene Bonham and wife
Ruth of California; seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; other
relatives and friends.
Visitation was Friday, January 29, 2010 from 6-8 p.m.
Funeral service was held Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 11 a.m. in the
St. James Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary with Reverend Jerry Baumann
officiating.
Interment in the St. James Cemetery.
Arrangements under the direction of the James & Gahr Mortuary.
Mary Alice Kragh
Mary Alice Kragh of Sullivan, Missouri, formerly of Bourbon, Missouri, was
born on June 24, 1932 at Leasburg, Missouri to Herb and Tessie (Oliver)
Eaton and passed away Monday, January 25, 2010 at the age of 77 years.
Alice, as she was known by family and friends was raised in the Steelville
area and later graduated from Bourbon High School. She had the honor of
being one of Bourbon’s first May Queens. She enjoyed baking and cooking and
especially collecting pins and brooches. She was the office manager of the
former Sullivan Community Hospital and later retired from there. She was a
member of the Hospital Auxiliary.
On August 19, 1950 she married Andy Eugene Kragh at Concordia Lutheran
Church of Bourbon, Missouri, which she was a long time member.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herb and Tessie Eaton; husband,
Andy; two children in infancy, David and Vicki Kragh; two sisters, Betty
Summers and Lucille Stephens; other relatives and friends.
She is survived by a daughter, Melinda Carbone and husband Jack of
St. Peters, Missouri; one brother, Charles Eaton and wife Janet of the state
of California; one sister, Shirley Miller and husband Roger of Bourbon,
Missouri; two grandchildren, Amy Carbone-Scott and husband Jody and Tony
Carbone and wife Jenny; two great grandchildren, Luca Carbone and Sophia
Scott; one step granddaughter, Kate Scott; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 from the
Southside Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.
Funeral service was at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 28, 2010 from Concordia
Lutheran Church, Bourbon, Missouri with Pastor Patrick Runk officiating.
Interment was in the Crossroads Cemetery, Leasburg, Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan,
Missouri.
Kenneth Eads Morris Jr.
Kenneth Eads Morris Jr. of St. James, Missouri, was born in St. James,
Missouri on January 30, 1943 to Kenneth and Roberta (Macormic) Morris Sr.
and passed away January 27, 2010 at his home at the age of 66 years.
Kenneth Morris Jr. was united in marriage to Vernita Hancock on
November 21, 1973.
Kenneth was baptized at the First Church of God on August 22, 1976.
He worked in the Maintenance Department of the St. James School District
until he retired. He enjoyed his job and loved being around the kids. Kenny
was a true cowboy, he loved being on a horse going on trail rides or just
around their farm. He enjoyed hunting, farming and family.
When the grandkids came along nobody was a prouder grandpa than Kenny, he
loved those kids and they were all so special to him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Roberta Morris and father-in-law,
Chester Hancock.
He is survived by his wife, Vernita Morris of their home in St. James,
Missouri; children, Shelia Edgar and husband Billy of Steelville, Missouri,
Kent Morris and wife Wendy of Rolla, Missouri, Sheryl Wilburn of St. James,
Missou Kenda Friese of Jefferson City, Missouri; father, Kenneth Morris Sr.
of Newburg, Missouri; mother-in-law, Irene Hancock of St. James, Missouri;
sister, Lana Harris and husband Frank of Rolla, Missouri; grandchildren,
Nathaniel and Nichelle Gruebel, Katelyn, Jake, Kyle and Joshua Morris,
Charles, Austin, and Devin Wilburn, Luke and Grace Friese; other relatives
and friends.
Visitation was Thursday, January 28, 2010 from 6-8 p.m.
Funeral services were held Friday, January 29, 2010 at 11 a.m. in the
St. James Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary with Brother Clarence
Campbell officiating.
Interment was in the Southard Cemetery.
Arrangements under the direction of the James & Gahr Mortuary.
