MO Local Obituaries for the Week of February 3 2021 Gary Lee Bartle Gary Lee Bartle of Bourbon, Missouri was born in Washington, Missouri January 28, 1953 to George and Dorothy (nee Biery) Bartle and passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at the age of 67 years, 11 months and 23 days. Gary married Mary Joyce Hill on February 23, 1974. He was employed by Ramsey Corporation as a machine operator for 30 years and at Welded Construction as an oiler for pipeline construction in norther Missouri. Gary retired in 2015. In his younger years, he loved to hunt, fish, drag race, ride motorcycles, play in softball leagues, coach his children in baseball and softball, float on the Meramec River and often went to the creek with his lifelong friend, Danny Parkins. Gary enjoyed watching his son, Tom, play in music in the band Riverside at many gigs, playing golf, watching sports. He was well known for his grilling expertise and cooking skills. The Bartle home, where he resided from 1978 - 2008 on Louisiana Street in Sullivan, Missouri, was home to many neighborhood children and friends of the family. Gary was often called "Dad" by many of these children. There were many late-night volleyball games held at the Bartle home. Gary always made time to talk to everyone and loved walking at Walmart. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; parents, George and Dorothy Bartle; two sisters, Wanda Roach and Kathy Bartle; one brother, Thomas Bartle; and granddaughter, Madison Bartle. For most of her working life, she worked as a waitress at the St. Louis Airport, and previously at the Bobber Cafˇ for nearly 20 years, as well as Aerofil. Sandy enjoyed playing Bingo and she loved her lotto tickets. She was also into arts and crafts and never missed watching Jeopardy. She loved her little dog, Molly. Ronald Allen Bishop Ronald Allen Bishop of Steelville, Missouri was born on Thursday, July 29, 1948 in Courtois, Missouri to Kenneth Russell and Ava Laverna Walker Bishop and passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at the age of 72 years, 5 months and 11 days. Ronald graduated from Steelville High School and then joined the United States Army. He married Rosalee Gail Rutherford on May 6, 1988 at the Crawford County Courthouse in Steelville, Missouri. He worked for the Crawford County Road District #1 for 25 years until he retired. Ronald loved the outdoors. He liked to hunt, especially for turkey. He enjoyed going for walks, going out to eat with Rosalee and collecting coins and rocks. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Ava Bishop; and parents-in-law, George and Devona Rutherford. Breese Raymond J. Breese of Cuba, Missouri, formerly of Bourbon, Missouri, was born to John E. and Madge W. (Stevenson) Breese Sr. on Monday, May 29, 1939 in St. Louis, Missouri and passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at the age of 81 years. Raymond grew up in Bourbon, Missouri and graduated from Bourbon High School. He along with his twin brother Ralph, entered the United States Army in 1957. Raymond honorably served his country in the United States Army and the brothers went on to serve in the United States Army Reserves. Raymond retired as a maintenance worker from Meramec State Park after 21 years of dedicated service. He selflessly served his local community as volunteer firefighter and in the course of time he earned a promotion to serve as the Fire Chief for the Bourbon Fire Protection District. He was a charter member of the Sullivan Eagles F.O.E. No. 3781. Raymond enjoyed farming, gardening, hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Madge Breese Sr.; and one brother, John Lee "Jack" and wife Billie Breese. Donald Richard Gowin Donald Richard Gowin of West Plains, Missouri, formerly of St. James, Missouri, was born in Kane, Illinois on May 23, 1929 to Leslie and Freda (Baum) Gowin and passed away Thursday, January 28, 2021 at the age of 91 years. Donald married Barbara (Flatt) Gowin on January 25, 1950. Barbara preceded him in death on July 1, 1983. Donald then married Evelyn Vedder on August 4, 1984. Donald was baptized at an early age and served in ministry most of his adult life. He was ordained and served churches in Illinois including New Hope Baptist and Virginia First Baptist with Barbara by his side. He then moved his family to Missouri to attend Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, Missouri, obtaining his bachelors in theology. After graduation, he served at First Baptist Church in Wyaconda, Missouri. He became Director of Missions for the Eleven Point River/Shannon County Baptist Association in 1979 and later moved to the Phelps County Baptist Association from which he retired in 1990. He and Evelyn then served as volunteers in Campers on Mission and had a clown ministry. They had the opportunity to travel to Belarus on mission and also traveled to the Holy Lands as well as Peru. Donald proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was passionate about his family and moved to West Plains, Missouri where he would spend his remaining time being closer to family. He was an avid Cardinal fan and never missed a game. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Freda Gowin; wife, Barbara; wife, Evelyn; brother, Arnold; sister, Mildred; and brothers, Raymond and Norman. Shirley Faye Shirley Faye (nee Dingley) Grayson of Steelville, Missouri was born March 6, 1934 in Bland, Missouri to Paul Obed and Minnie Melinda Jane Mitchell Dingley and passed away on January 27, 2021 at the age of 86 years, 10 months and 21 days. She married Noel Glen Grayson. Shirley and Glen loved traveling. An Alaskan cruise and a Caribbean cruise were their favorite trips. Shirley had been employed at Cuba Shoe for a number of years. She attended Cosmetology School in the evenings and in 1963 she opened Shirley's Beauty Shop. For 55 years she styled hair and cared for "her ladies." In 1995, Shirley joined her son Alan when he opened Hair and Body Care. She continued to work as a cosmetologist until her retirement in 2017. Shirley was also active in her community and church. She chaperoned teen dances, helped Go-Getters 4-H Club, served the Martha and Mary Chapter of Easter Star, danced with Yadkin Creek Cloggers and was honored as Steelville Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year. For 50 years she served as nursery coordinator for Steelville First Baptist Church. Christmas was her favorite holiday. On Christmas Eve the entire family gathered at her house for a huge dinner and a visit from Santa. Shirley loved being Santa's helper passing out stockings and gifts. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Grayson of over 60 years; parents, Paul and Minnie Dingley; and one sister, Joy Dingley. She worked for 30 years in the special services department of the Crawford County R-2 School District. Willa Mae enjoyed crocheting, playing with her great grandchildren and collecting salt and pepper shakers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Eula Counts; three brothers; four sisters-in-laws; and in-laws, Homer and Mae Williams. Troy graduated in 1985 from Viburnum High School and then attended Mineral Area College. He married Laura Ann Rachel Callahan on September 1, 1990 at the Assembly of God Church in Steelville, Missouri. Troy had accepted the Lord and attended Victory Baptist Church in Cherryville, Missouri. He had worked at Brown Shoe, Briggs and Stratton and lastly as a manager at Meeks Lumber Yard in Bourbon, Missouri. Troy loved riding motorcycles and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
