Wilma married Joe Baker in the year 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri. Wilma and Joe were married for 71 years when he passed away in October of last year. Wilma was a faithful member of the Davisville Assembly of God Church. Along with Joe's brother, Bill, she and Joe owned the Baker Feed and Grocery Store for many years. She also was always next to her husband's side on the farm when he needed her. Wilma was a good cook and all of the family always loved to eat her glazed doughnuts. She spent many hours gardening, taking care of her flowers, sewing and canning. Ed and Kathy shared 56 years of marriage together before her passing in 2009. Ed loved being outdoors and in the old days, he enjoyed cutting wood. Opal Marie Rohrer Opal Marie Rohrer (nee Walton) of Bourbon, Missouri was born in Leasburg, Missouri on Saturday, October 19, 1918 to Lewis and Lucy Martha Land Walton and passed away on Friday, February 1, 2019 at the age of 100 years, 3 months and 13 days. Opal was christened Presbyterian, later became a Baptist, but most of her church service was as a Methodist. She met Fred Rohrer of Bourbon, the son of Jake and Elizabeth Rohrer and they were married on November 19, 1939. They had nearly 50 years of marriage together before Fred passed away. Both Opal and Fred were teachers and partners in several local businesses. Opal was always deeply religious believing in prayer, patience and perseverance. Opal was a member of the Methodist church for 60 years. Over the years she held many offices and did much church work. She was on the Pastoral Committee for nearly 20 years. She was a youth leader and president of the women's group. Opal was instrumental in organizing a World Day of Prayer and through her efforts as many as 10 churches took part. For years she had charge of serving the funeral dinners for bereaved families. She was a teacher, Cub Scout leader, Sunday school teacher and enjoyed playing bridge and pinochle. Opal was an interesting person, always full of ideas and enthusiasm, ready to take on anything she believed to be a Christian service. You might remember Opal as the lady you would meet on the street or receive a card with a $2 bill or the balloon lady/grandma. Fred was raised in St. Louis, Missouri. He worked mostly as a laborer in manufacturing and also had worked on a farm. He had four sons who were his world. He enjoyed playing hockey and poker, was always cracking jokes and was very intelligent, especially with technology. He was a big Blues and Cardinals fan. He liked 80s classic rock and was a movie buff. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Simshauser and Ellen (Whitaker) Tatham; and siblings, Cindy Simshauser, Teresa Coombs and Charles Simshauser. Galloway Bowen Spurgeon Jr. Galloway Bowen Spurgeon Jr. of St. James, Missouri was born April 2, 1927 in St. James, Missouri to Galloway Bowen Davis and Clara Alice (Ferris) Spurgeon and passed away February 3, 2019 at the age of 91 years, 10 months and 1 day. On June 5, 1948 Galloway married Doris Lee Jennings and they celebrated over 51 years together. To this union three children were born, Debbie, Judy and John. In 1964 Galloway returned to his hometown of St. James, Missouri with his family where he and his wife Doris established Spurgeon's 66. Spurgeon's 66 is currently owned and operated by his son John and wife Janet. During his early years he worked for Walter McCann in Owensville, Missouri Missouri and then Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in Poplar Bluff and St. Louis, Missouri until his return to St. James in 1964. He continued to be affiliated with Firestone throughout his career. He was close to his eight siblings as his parents died when he was 11 years old, being raised by his oldest brother, Leslie. Galloway was a veteran of the Navy serving in WWII. He was a member of the VFW in St. James, a 32nd Degree Mason, member of the Chamber of Commerce and a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Owensville, Poplar Bluff, St. Louis and the last 54 years in the St. James Baptist Church. On February 3, 2001 Galloway married Ina Mae Prebianca. Ina brought to the marriage three adult children, Jimmy Prebianca and wife Yolanda, Carol and husband, Gary Webster, Gloria and husband Rick Smith along with six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris; his second wife, Ina Mae; step son, Jim Prebianca; parents, Galloway Bowen Davis Spurgeon and Clara Alice Ferris; and eight siblings and their spouses. After graduating high school, Betty traveled to New York where she attended flight attendant school. She later became an airline stewardess for Capital and United Airlines, where she traveled the world for many years. When Betty was not flying she was a model for department stores on the east coast of Virginia. She eventually made her way back to Missouri where she was involved in sales careers such as Mary Kay, AAA and the Ad Tracker. She enjoyed hosting dinner parties, listening to the musical rhythms of Latin, jazz and big band, quilting, nautical puzzles and nature. At Berryman, Missouri in 1951, Lester married Lottie King. Lester served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed as a house mover for 20 years then became a carpenter for several years and was a member of the Carpenter's Union. During that time he helped build the Potosi Prison. He and Lottie were members of the Lay Builders, helping to build churches in Missouri and in other states. Lester was a faithful member of the Courtois Baptist Church for 26 years where he served as a deacon. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his spare time. Richard Drew Williams Richard Drew Williams of Sullivan, Missouri was born on November 7, 1960 in St. Louis, Missouri to Alfred Orlean and Betty Lee (Carr) Williams and passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at the age of 58 years. He attended school in Ballwin and Camdenton, Missouri. His parents owned Mike's Resort in Osage Beach, Missouri and Richard helped them in the store, on the fishing dock and renting boats. He served in the United States Navy in Hawaii and this is where he met and married Kitty Smith. Richard returned to the Lake area and worked as cook at Jackson Hole and several other area restaurants. He moved to Sullivan, Missouri a few years ago and remained here until his passing. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Rama and Alma (Lillard) Williams and Clifford Drew and Anna Victoria (Roam) Carr. He is survived by his son, Dean Williams of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; his parents, Alfred and Betty Williams of Sullivan, Missouri; one brother, Clifford Williams and wife Cindra of Sullivan, Missouri; two nieces, Melissa Hampton and husband Ben of Bourbon, Missouri and Lindsey Jasper and husband Ben of New Haven, Missouri; four great nieces and nephews, Thea and Rhett Hampton and Nolan and Landon Jasper; other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, January 28, 2019 at First Assembly of God in Sullivan, Missouri. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Monday, January 28, 2019 at the First Assembly of God in Sullivan, Missouri with Pastor Kyle Phillips officiating. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Sullivan, Missouri. Arrangements under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.
