MO Local Obituaries for the Week of February 8, 2017 David "Kenny" Bombach David "Kenny" Bombach of rural Japan, Missouri was born March 27, 1929 in St. Louis to Valentine and Nettie (Dotson) Bombach and passed away January 31, 2017 at the age of 87 years. He was one of eight children. Kenny was raised in the Bem, Missouri area. He always felt Bem was the perfect place to call home. Kenny attended school at Hamby and Tayloe schools. When he was 17, he joined the U.S. Marine Corp. where he took his training at Paris Island, South Carolina. Kenny served his country and was honorably discharged in February 1948. He was always a "proud Marine." As a young man, Kenny was always interested in driving big trucks. He drove for several different companies over the years. Kenny started work at McDonnell Aircraft Co. in 1956 where he worked as a machinist for 10 years. He then went to work for the Meramec Mines for the next 11 years until its closure. On June 5, 1954, Kenny was united in marriage to Edna Ruth Ruwwe and to this union three sons were born. He was preceded in death by his parents, Valentine and Nettie Bombach; five sisters, Emma, Ethel, Evelyn, Leona, and Gertie; and two brothers, Tony and Jack. He is survived by his wife, Edna; his sons and their families, David and wife Cris, Daniel and wife Edie, all of Cuba, Missouri and Mark of Ridgecrest, California; seven grandchildren, Kelvin, Minda, Dietrich, Bodie, Conrad, Cooper and Tighe; other relatives and friends. Lucille Campbell of Cuba, Missouri was born Monday, January 28, 1946 at Sullivan, Missouri to Garrett C. and Edna E. (nee Ragan) Dickens and passed away Sunday, January 29, 2017 at the age of 71 years. Lucille was a graduate of the Cuba High School in 1963. Lucille married Gary P. Campbell on November 9, 1973 at Cuba, Missouri. Lucille worked for 21 years as the Quality Controller for the U.A.W Local #1760 at Schwitzer in Rolla, Missouri. After the union, Lucille went to work for Paramount in Bourbon, Missouri and then retired in 2013 after 15 years of working at Indeeco as the Quality Controller. Lucille grew up going to the First Baptist Church of Cuba, Missouri and for the last many years she was a member of the Cuba Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, especially baby towels with a tag sewn in that read "Love by Lucille." Lucille worked in the flowerbeds and grew a beautiful vegetable garden. She would spend hours canning. Lucille was an excellent cook and her grandchildren enjoyed her brownies and everyone enjoyed her homemade rolls, jellies and pear butter. Mary Lou Gipson Mary Lou Gipson (nee Moutray) was born at Butts, Missouri to Edwin and Marie Moutray on October 11, 1935 and passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at the age of 81 years. Mary graduated from Steelville High School in 1953 and went to St. Louis, Missouri to work. She lived there 20 years and had various jobs throughout her life but the last 10 years she worked at White Rodgers in Affton, Missouri. She liked to keep house, work in the yard and garden and lots of other things. On May 2, 1959 in E. St. Louis, Illinois she married Fred Gipson. No children were born to this union. She and Fred liked to camp in their RVs. They traveled to Texas as winter Texans for lots of years and moved there permanently in 2006. They lived in Texas six and a half years then decided to move back home to Cuba in 2013. Mary was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cuba, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Marie Moutray; brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and June Moutray; in-laws, Mary and John Crotty. June Hewlin June Hewkin (nee Bassett) of St. Peters, Missouri was born June 19, 1934 in St. Louis, Missouri to Claude and Marie Sprague Bassett and passed away Thursday, January 26, 2017 at the age of 82 years. On March 11, 1955 she married Donald Francis Hewkin and to this union three children were born. June attended Grace Community Church in St. Peters, Missouri. She enjoyed meeting her friends at the McDonald Breakfast Club, gardening and traveling. Larry Wayne Highley Larry Wayne Highley of Cuba, Missouri was born July 17, 1957 at Peoria, Illinois to James W. and Helen (nee Snodgrass) Highley and passed away on January 28, 2017 at the age of 59 years. Larry left school early to begin his working career. He spent many years working for Clark Gas Stations as a gas attendant and worked his way up to management. Larry's next job was at the St. Claire Dye Cast Company where he worked for 10 years as the burner and for the last 15 years Larry worked at the Walmart Distribution Center in St. James, Missouri in the maintenance division. Larry spent hours and days fishing, camping, gardening, landscaping and just being outdoors. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. He enjoyed rafting, kayaking and boating. Larry treasured the times he got to spend with his friends and there nickname for him was "one more Larry." Larry was a big Elvis fan and he enjoyed singing karaoke. On August 23, 1946, in Rolla, she married Leonard L. Light. Almeta graduated from the John F. Hodge High School in St. James, Missouri in 1943. She and her husband Leonard were life partners as well as business partners for 51 years, first by co-owning and operating Leonard's Barbershop and later L.L. Light Realtors, both in Rolla, Missouri. Almeta previously served as an active and contributive member of the Rolla Board of Realtors and the South Central MO Board of Realtors. She was also an avid bowler and a member of the First Baptist Church in Rolla, Missouri for over 50 years. Ray proudly served in the United States Army from January 15, 1963 until January 18, 1966. He earned the Good Conduct Medal the Vietnam War Medal and the Expert Rifle Medal. Ray worked for GTE in St. Louis, Missouri for 20 years before he became the owner/operator of Rade Telcom in Cuba, Missouri for 13 years and he retired in 2012. On July 11, 1955 he married Wanda Snow and to this union eight children were born. In 1955 Max went to work as a machinist at McDonald Douglas in St. Louis, Missouri building aircrafts. Max loved his job and worked there until he retired in the late 1980's. Max grew up in the Akers community on the family farm where he found his love for farming, fishing the rivers and enjoying the waters of the Current River. After he retired and had more time on his hands, he put out a huge garden and a few pear trees. It was never work to him, he enjoyed getting out and hoeing and weeding and was always happy to share the bounty of his labor with his family and friends. he was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Hattie Percell; his wife, Wanda; son, Jesse Purcell; brothers, Vancel, Arch and Clem Purcell; and sister, Wilma Purcell Chrisco. He was a truck driver for many years and retired in April, 2009 from ProDrivers Trucking Company in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He moved back to Missouri in Cuba in January of 2011 and enjoyed his grand- children and woodworking. George Ernest Weaver George Ernest Weaver Jr. was born on January 8, 1926 in Carthage, Missouri to George Ernest Sr. and Florence Williams Weaver and passed away January 27, 2017 at the age of 91 years. He was united in marriage to Jessie Rose Weaver. George loved spending time with his wife and daughters. And, if ice cream was involved, it was all the better. George worked as a Commercial Specialist for the Railroad for 30 years. He also served his country proudly in the United States Navy. During his retirement, he was able to spend time on a hobby that he loved, black smithing. He shared this love with others each year at the Meramec Iron Works Day. He enjoyed going to yard sales and auctions. He was always on the hunt for a bargain. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church where he served as deacon. His walk with the Lord was of utmost importance to him, and he spent many hours reading his Bible daily. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Ernest Sr. and Florence Williams Weaver; and his wife, Jessie Rose Weaver on October 6, 2006. He is survived by daughters, Patricia (Patti) Ann Reed and husband Jack of Arlington, Tennessee and Mary Katherine Weaver of Arlington, Tennessee; brother, Bill Weaver and wife Beatrice of Mt. Vernon, Missouri; grandchildren, John and wife Jennifer, Jessica, and Katie; great-grandchildren, Mazie, Sadie, and Jackson; other relatives and friends. Visitation was held on Wednesday, February 1, 2016 from 10-11 a.m. at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, February 1, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri with Stephen Brubaker and Jerry Baumann officiating. Pallbearers were Doug Lane, Dennis Culler, Marvin Coffman, Ray DeShurley, Nick Brakensiek, John Reed and Miguel Rosario. Burial with full military honors was in the St. James Cemetery in St. James, Missouri. Arrangements under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri.
