MO Local Obituaries for the Week of February 10, 2005 Nacy Daan Academia Nacy Academia was born Monday May 10, 1926, at Cebu, Philippines, a daughter of the late Daniel Bass Daan and Dominga Cabinum Daan. She entered eternal rest Sunday January 30, 2005, at the St. Joseph Hospital, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at the age of 78 years, 8 months and 20 days. On April 20, 1950, Nacy was united in marriage to Faustino Academia. Ten daughters and three sons were born to this union. Faustino preceded her in death, October 24, 1995. She was also preceded in death by three daughters, Meriam, Carmela and Crispy Academia. Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her devoted children, Ester Carmack and husband Robert of Steelville, Missouri, Roland Academia, Jon-Jon Academia, Amelia Academia, Marietes Academia all of Cebu, Philippines, Zenth Ross of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Ligaya Bynum of Phoenix, Arizona, Jean Flores and husband Telly of Korea, Zerik Academia and Marialuz Academia both of Manila Philippines. Three brothers, Jesus Daan, Rudy Daan and Alfredo Daan all of Cebu, Philippines; 17 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Nacy Daan Academia lay in state after 10 a.m. Saturday, February 5, 2004, at the Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Saturday, February 5, 2005 in the Britton Chapel, Steelville, Missouri with Rev. James Self officiating. The eulogy was given by a grandson, Robert Ross. Musical selections were provided by Jaisa Self. Committal prayers and interment was in Schwieder Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were Maurice Bynum, Chanda Carmack, Robert Carmack, Alvina Hayes, Robert Ross and David Siemens. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Britton Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Earl D. Anderson Earl D. Anderson of Cuba, Missouri was born in Kansas City, Missouri on Tuesday, December 20, 1955 to Earl Anderson, Sr. and Elma Jean Bresee Anderson. He passed away in his home on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 at the age of 49 years, 1 month and 12 days. Earl married Robin Kramer in Monmouth, Iowa on January 6, 1989 and has made his home in Cuba the last four years. His hobbies were camping and fishing. Those who preceded him in death are his grandparents and his mother, Elma Jean Anderson. Cody Sr., long time resident of Cuba, Missouri, passed away Monday, January 31, 2005. He was the beloved husband of Kathy Cody, nee Poelker; loving father of Jackson (Melody) Jr., Angela, Jason and Justin Cody, Victoria and Lawrence Ruckman. Dear grandfather of Laken, Julie, Jordan and Kyle Cody, Kiara Ware and Kenzie Cody; dear son of James B. and Frieda L. Cody; dear brother of James Cody, Patricia Rankin and Michael Cody; dear uncle, great uncle, cousin and many friends. Howard George and Minnie May (Stage) George, was born on June 14, 1912 in Rombauer, Missouri and entered into rest on February 3, 2005, in Rolla, Missouri at the age of 92 years. John was preceded in death by his parents T. Howard and Minnie May, one brother and one sister. John George was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his, surviving family; wife, Golda (Russell) George, of St. James, Missouri. Children: Saundra Ford and husband, Hugh, of Rolla, Missouri, Cecelia Craft, and husband Bob, of St. James, Missouri, Charlene Meade and husband Frank, of Mena, Arkansas. Three step-children, brother Charles George, and wife Marlene, of Malden, Missouri. Eldonna Gene Harlan Eldonna Gene Harlan, nee Kendrick, was born Wednesday, October 15, 1924, at Albion, Illinois, a daughter of the late William Kendrick and Naomi Bunnage) Kendrick. She entered eternal rest Friday, January 29, 2005, at her home near Steelville, Missouri, at the age of 80 years, 3 months and 14 days. On February 9, 1945, in Arkansas, Eldonna was united in marriage to James F. Harlan. They have enjoyed sixty years together, and were blessed with one son, Jim, and one daughter, Gina. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Kendrick and one sister, Eleanor Brunhofer and two brothers-in-law, Clyde Hamilton and Richard Bendorf. Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her devoted husband, James Harlan of the home; their son, Jim Harlan and wife Deanna of Highland, Illinois; their daughter, Gina Etier and husband John of Weslaco, Texas. One brother, Robert J. Kitchen of Cuba, Missouri was born on Tuesday, December 3, 1935 in Leasburg, Missouri to Ralph Edward Kitchen and Elsie Margaret Licklider Kitchen. He passed away on Friday, January 28, 2005 in Weslaco, Texas at the age of 69 years, 1 month and 25 days. Edwin entered the United States Army on May 8, 1956 and was honorably discharged on May 8, 1962. He married Mable E. Dickens in Cuba, Missouri on November 1, 1958 and to this union four children were born. Edwin attended Covenant Praise Church of God and was also a member of the Cuba Masonic Lodge #312. Most of his adult life he worked as an electrical mechanic foreman for Show-Me Power. He was an excellent carpenter, an avid outdoorsman, hunter, and fur trapper. He especially enjoyed digging for ginseng roots. Those who preceded him in death were his parents. He is survived by his wife Mable E. Kitchen of Cuba, Missouri; children Edward (Eddy) Kitchen and wife Elke of Leasburg, Missouri, Patsy Kohlfeld and husband Jim of St. Charles, Missouri, Ms. Pamela L. Mullich, Japan, Missouri, passed away peaceably in his sleep a after a long struggle with cancer on Saturday, February 5, 2005. He was the dear father of Michele Allen, Deborah (Norman) Resaine, John O. Mullich Jr. (deceased), Laura Mullich and Jennifer Billman (deceased). Dear grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, brother-in-law, cousin and friend of many. He was a retired member of Bricklayers Union #1 of Missouri, St. Louis, Missouri. He gifted his body to St. Louis University School of Medicine for medical research. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Charles Arthur Scull Charles Arthur Scull was born Wednesday, April 28, 1915, at Dixon, Tennessee, a son of the late Curtis Scull and Addie Viola (Robinson) Scull. He departed this life, Tuesday, February 1, 2005, in Kindred Hospital, Houston, Texas, at the age of 89 years, 9 months and 3 days. On Sunday, December 23, 1945 at Dillard, Missouri, Charles was united in marriage to Irma Gladine Hogan. One son, Gary, and one daughter, Brenda, were born to this union. They enjoyed over fifty-eight years together, before her death, July 11, 2004. In addition to his parents and his wife Irma, he was preceded in death by three brothers, R.D. Scull, Criss Scull and John Scull and one sister, Bunny Talley; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Thurston Hogan, Harry Hogan, Franklin Hogan and Doloris Kesler Knox. Among those who remain to mourn his passing are his daughter, Brenda Scull-Giljum of Tomball, Texas, his son Gary Scull and wife Brenda of Winfield, Missouri; three grandchildren, Jeremiah Scull and wife Kari of Winfield, Missouri, Leticia Giljum-Lowery and husband Jeremy of Pinehurst, Texas and Sarah Scull of St. Louis, Missouri. Charles was a member of Wentzville Lodge No. 46, A. F. & A.M. since 1963 and member of Missouri Centenial Class, Grand Council Royal and Select Masters, State of Missouri, Jeremiah Council No. 48 H. & S.M. since 1964. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Charles Arthur Scull lay in state 4-8 p.m. with Masonic services 7 p.m. with Lebanon Lodge #77 A.F. and A.M. and Cuba Lodge #321 officiating, Saturday, February 5, 2005 at the Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Sunday, February 6, 2005, in the Britton Chapel with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Musical selections were favorite hymns of Charles, provided by Rev. Beers and Finis Barr. Committal prayers and interment was in Sellers Cemetery, Dillard, Missouri. Honoring Mr. Scull as pallbearers were Gary Scull, Jeremy Lowery, Jeremiah Scull, Forest Cowling, and Robert Cowling. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Britton Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Jennie S. Walz Jennie S. Walz, 85, Dixon, died December 20, 2004, in Dixon Nursing and Rehabilitation, Dixon. Mrs. Walz was born February 22, 1919, in Cuba, Missouri, the daughter of Lester E. Stevens and wife Bessie Agnes, nee McWilliams. She was first united in marriage to Charles DeClue, November 26, 1937 in Cuba. She was later married to Bob Walz. Mrs. Walz was a member of the Church of Christ in Kirkwood and Dixon. She was also a member of the Elks Club, Moose Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled Veterans and the Hummingbird Club, all in Washington, Missouri. Mrs. Walz was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands and one grandson, Eric Morgan. She is survived by two sons, Paul DeClue and wife Diane, Dixon, and Roger DeClue and wife Sheila, Washington; four daughters, Charleen Russell and husband George, Leasburg, Nancy Morgan and husband Larry, and Bonnye Tilton, all of Dixon, and Christie Evans, state of Illinois; one brother, James Stevens and wife Mary, state of Texas; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. The family was served by Long-Gilbert Funeral Home, Dixon, Missouri. Marvin L. Ware Marvin L. Ware of Cuba, Missouri was born on Sunday, January 29, 1933 in Cuba, Missouri to Jesse S. Ware and Annie C. Osborn Ware. He passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2005 at the age of 72 years and 1 day. Marvin married Viola Rowland on April 29, 1950 in Salem, Arkansas and to this union five children were born. Marvin was a member of Delhi Baptist Church and also on the board of directors for the Delhi Cemetery. He was a carpenter and farmer most of his adult life, plus spending time gardening, fishing, hunting turkey and coyotes. Most of all Marvin especially loved being with his family. Those who preceded him in death are his parents Jesse and Annie Ware; two brothers Edwin and Virgil Ware; father-in-law William Rowland and mother-in-law Jessie Russell Rowland.
