Adam Sr. of Rolla, Missouri was born in Lecoma, Missouri on December 16, 1922 to Frank and Henrietta "Mary" Adam and passed away Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the age of 92 years. Frank graduated from St. Paul Concordia High School and Junior College. He then went to work for the USGS as a rodman, until joining the Army. He was sent for Army Specialized Training at the University of Chicago and became a Radio Operator. He served in the Philippines and Okinawa. It was in the Philippines that he earned the Bronze Star for bravery. He and Dee lived in Chicago until 1951, then moved to Rolla, and he took a job with the USGS. He worked as a cartographer, and retired in 1979. When Dee passed away and he married Erma. He took up golf in his 40's and loved his Thursdays with the survey guys at the UMR course. He bowled and did stained glass. He was an avid Cribbage and card player. He was a charter member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Henrietta Adam; siblings, Harold E. Adam (Lydia), Selma Thurm and Robert J. Adam; his first wife, Deletta L. Randy Lee Brake Sr. Randy Lee Brake Sr. of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at the age of 51 years. Randy was born at Sullivan, Missouri and had lived the majority of his life in the Sullivan area. He attended Sullivan High School and later became employed in the construction trade as a heavy equipment operator. Randy enjoyed crafting and would make Christmas ornaments, he collected model ships and model NASCAR's and collecting Budweiser collectables. He was known as a "down to earth" individual who was very giving of himself and was self-motivated. He was also a jack-of-all-trades, and loved and cared for his pet dogs. His greatest love was NASCAR racing and was well known throughout the area playing the drums with several different bands. Having been companions for 15 years, on July 6, 2013 Randy married Patty Cox and Sullivan, Missouri. Arlen Helton Arlen Helton of Sullivan, Missouri was born on October 27, 1924 at Vienna, Missouri to Vernon Albert and Ethyl L. (Martin) Helton and passed away on Monday, February 2, 2015 at the age of 90 years. He served his country during WWII with the U.S. Army and attained the rank of Staff Sargent. He served in Company K with the 359th Infantry and one of the brave who landed on the beaches of Normandy and fought in the battles and campaigns of Normandy, Rhineland, Ardennes, Central Europe and Northern France. Arlen was decorated with five Bronze Stars, two Purple Heart Medals with one Oak Leaf Cluster for wounds received in action in France, and ribbons for the European African Middle Eastern Theatre campaign and three overseas bars. After his discharge, Arlen came back to the Vienna area and on July 13, 1946 married Mae Crider. He was employed for a time with the former CARMO Shoe Factory in Union, Missouri and later at the Ford Plant in St. Louis, Missouri. He is mostly known for his employment with Fidelity Communications as a lineman. He retired from there on May 1, 1986. Arlen enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially fishing with his brother Arthur. He loved dancing and playing the guitar. Arlen was a life-time member of the Russell Schmidt V.F.W. Post 3987. She was raised in La Mesa, Texas and came to the Sullivan, Missouri area in October of 1988. Before coming to Sullivan, Gladys was employed as a waitress in Texas and later in the Branson, Missouri area.After coming to Sullivan, she became employed as an over- the-road commercial truck driver with TLC Truck Lines and drove until ill heath caused her retirement. Her "handle" was Yellow Rose. Gladys enjoyed crocheting, making dolls and quilts, was also a crafter and was fond of cooking. Ray married Annamae Rackley on April 23, 1944 in Boss, Missouri and to this union three children were born. Ray and Annamae celebrated 70 years of marriage last year. Ray worked for a short time in the timber industry in Boss, Missouri cutting stave bolts then later as a lineman in Salem, Missouri. He moved to Steelville, Missouri in 1955 as City Administrator working with John Brown and Jack Jones. Ray put in the first city streetlights. He went back to Salem serving as City Administrator where he retired in 1991 at 67 years old. After retirement he returned to Steelville serving as city alderman where he oversaw the construction of the city walking trail and the bridge over the Yadkin Creek behind Country Mart. He also enjoyed antique shopping for Edie's Antiques. His hobbies were fishing and hunting. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Rose Lunsford; brothers, Rev. Frank proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired in 2000 from the Steel Workers Union of Illinois. He was united in marriage to Vivian "Ilene" Vance and after retirement they moved to Steelville, Missouri to enjoy the outdoors and the fresh air. Frank enjoyed fishing, banana splits and music from the 50's, 60's and jazz. He was an avid watcher of the "Young and the Restless," if he missed it at 4 p.m. he could watch it at 6 p.m. or 11:30 p.m. He never missed watching a St. Louis Cardinals Baseball game. Frank loved animals especially dogs. He was preceded in death by his parents; sibling; wife, Ilene Pasternacki; daughter, Terry Lynn Hassler; and brother-in-law, Ray Vance.
