Franklin F. Buck
Franklin F. Buck was born in Sibley County, Minnesota, on August 24, 1918,
to Louis H. and Alma M. (Weihe) Buck.
He was received into the Kingdom of Christ through the Sacrament of Holy
Baptism as an infant at St. John Lutheran Church, Arlington, Minnesota, on
September 15, 1918. On March 20, 1932, he was privileged to make public
confession of his faith in Christ as his personal Savior from sin at St.
John through the rite of Confirmation. His confirmation verse was John 10:
27-28.
He was raised in the Arlington, Minnesota area, growing up on a farm and
completed the 8th grade. He was graduated from welding school in March of
1941 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
He lived in many different parts of the country, always using his skill of
welding (iron worker) in his different occupations. He lived in Times
Beach, Mo., California, and then back to the St. Louis area, specifically
Otto, Hermann, and then Leasburg. He moved to Leasburg in 1987, where he
resided until the time of his death.
His hobbies included bird hunting, sight seeing, eating out, especially
church dinners. He also did mechanical work on tractors, vehicles, and
specifically engines. He also welded and did a lot of work on the church
grounds when it involved welding.
Frank is survived by one sister, Mary Jane Smyly and husband Jack of
Eclectic, Alabama; one sister-in-law, Bernice Lieske of Arlington,
Minnesota; special friends, Charlie and Patsy Garavaglia and family of St.
Louis, Mo.; nine nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Along with his parents, Franklin was preceded in death by his brother,
Willard Edward Buck.
After feeling a little under the weather the last few weeks. Frank died
peacefully with his Lord at his home in the chair on February 3, 2001,
attaining the age of 82 years, five months and nine days.
Visitation was held at the Concordia Lutheran Church in Bourbon, Mo. from 4
p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2001 and at the Fenke Funeral
Home in Arlington, Minnesota from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, February 10,
2001.
Funeral services were held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2001, at
the Concordia Lutheran Church in Bourbon, Mo. with Rev. David Zirpel
officiating. and at the Fenke Funeral Home in Arlington, Minnesota at 11
a.m. Saturday, February 10, 2001 with Rev. Luther Koehler officiating.
Burial was in the St. John's Cemetery, Arlington Township, Minnesota.
Local arrangements were under the direction of the Hutson Funeral Home in
Cuba, Mo.
Clark E. Farrar
Clark Ernest Farrar was born on Monday, February 9, 1920 near Steelville,
Mo. to Albert Farrar and Lena Brown Farrar, and passed away on Tuesday,
February 6, 2001 at his home near Cuba, Mo., at the age of 80 years, 11
months and 28 days.
Clark grew up in a large family of six girls and seven boys. He attended
school at the Gibbs Community School. On February 4, 1942 Clark entered the
United States Army where he served during World War II. Clark achieved the
rank of Sergeant while serving in India and Burma, and was six times
decorated. He was honorably discharged on January 30, 1946.
He was an electrician with Illinois Power and Light. He retired and moved
back to this area some 25 years ago. Clark enjoyed life. He loved to fish
and be on the river. Clark will be remembered for his ability to make
everyone around him laugh. He was a wonderful story teller, who always had
a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. Clark loved to buy and sell,
often he would work the area flea markets. He was a lifelong member of the
V.F.W. Post #7147, Cuba, Mo.
On June 2, 1995 he married Virginia King Farris. Clark was a favorite
uncle, a loving step-father, a step-grandfather.
Clark was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mabel Davis; six
brothers, Troy, Harry, Carol (Robin), Jim, Burt, and Raymond; and wife,
Althea Jane Farrar.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are his dear wife Virginia of Cuba;
five sisters, Zelma Brimer of Kent, Washington, Myrtle Durand of Sullivan,
Mo., Mary Ann Wiedeman of Sullivan, Mo., Phoebe Cutsforth of Independence,
Mo., and Thelma "Sis" Vick and husband John of Galesburg, Michigan.
Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Doug King and friend Cathy of
Owensville, Mo., Ralph King and wife Debbie of Leasburg, Mo., James King
and wife Sue of Leasburg, Mo., Leon King and wife Pat of Sullivan, Mo.,
Buster King of Owensville, Mo., Wayne King of Potosi, Mo., Rosalea Gormley
and husband Arthur of Lebanon, Mo., and Lorene Brush of Richland, Mo.;
three step-sons, Gary Farris of Cuba, Mo., Larry Farris and wife Sandra of
Cuba, Mo., and Jerry Farris and wife Lori of Union, Mo.; one step-daughter,
Twila Farris and friend Ed Medcalf of Hazelwood, Mo.; numerous
grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and many friends all
who will sadly miss and fondly remember Clark Farrar.
Visitation was on Friday, February 10, 2001 from 5-9 p.m. at Hutson Funeral
Home in Cuba, Mo.
Funeral Service was held on Saturday, February 11, 2001 at 11 a.m. at the
Hutson Funeral Chapel in Cuba, Mo. with Rev. Delmar Hutson and Rev. John
Vick officiating.
Burial was in the Brown Cemetery east of Steelville, Mo., with military
honors.
All arrangements were under the direction of Hutson Funeral Home in Cuba,
Mo.
Clyde Wesley Luck
Clyde Wesley Luck was born Thursday, May 12, 1910, in Crawford County, Mo.,
a son of the late Thomas Edward Luck and Mattie Ora Luck (nee Halbert).
He entered eternal rest Friday, February 2, 2001, at his home near
Steelville, Mo., at the age of 90 years, 8 months and 21 days.
On January 6, 1937, in Steelville, Mo., Clyde was united in marriage to
Jewell Ware. Three sons were born to this union. Clyde and Jewell enjoyed
over sixty-three years together.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas
C. Luck and Johnnie R. Luck and one sister, Hazel Harmon.
Among those who remain to mourn his passing are his devoted wife, Jewell
Luck, of Steelville, Mo.; three sons, Darrell Luck of Steelville, Mo.,
Leroy Luck and wife Patricia of High Ridge, Mo., and Tom Luck and wife
Bettty of Daytona Beach, Florida.
Four sisters, Pearl Woods of Steelville, Mo., Ada Schwent and husband John
of Cuba, Mo., Daphna Ramori and husband Domenic of Cuba, Mo., and Mary
Gregory of St. Louis, Mo.; seven grandchildren, thirteen
great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Clyde was a brother, but more than just a brother. He was a father that was
more than just a father. He loved his family as much as they loved and
respected him.
He was a friend who was always there when needed, no matter what the
circumstances. Regardless of the job that needed to be done, he was always
there without having to be asked. With his quiet manner he could lead
through any job that needed to be done, but never had to say more than a
dozen words.
He loved being outdoors, either fishing or hunting, and was always ready to
take one more little circle looking for that last squirrel, or as his boys
would say, sometimes the first one, even if it was five miles back to the
car. They would walk it with him all the way.
Then one evening just at sunset he slipped away just as quietly as he had
lived. Dear husband, Dad, Grandpa, and Brother, we wish you a happy
journey.
Clyde Wesley Luck lay in state 3-6 p.m. Sunday, February 4, 2001, at the
Britton Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo. Funeral services were held 11 a.m.
Monday, February 5, 2001 in the Britton Chapel with Rev. Delmar Hutson
officiating.
Committal prayers and interment were in Steelville Cemetery, Steelville,
Mo. Pallbearers were Benny Gregory, Harvey Luck, Keith Luck, Bob
Richardson, Paul Schwent and Tom Woods.
Arrangements were under the direction of Britton Funeral Home, Steelville,
Mo.
Martha Jane Pyatt
Martha Jane Pyatt nee Harris was born Friday, September 4, 1908, at
Cherryville, Mo., a daughter of the late John Thomas Harris and Vianna
Harris (nee Tinker). She entered eternal rest Sunday, February 4, 2001, in
the Crawford County Health Care, Cuba, Mo. at the age of 92 years and 5
months.
She was united in marriage to William Otto Pyatt. Five sons and three
daughters were born to this union. William preceded her in death as did one
son, Troy William Pyatt; one grandson, Steve Anderson; and one son-in-law,
Harold Cooper; one brother, Willie Harris; and two sisters, Dorothy
Anderson and Lillie Seward.
Among those who remain to mourn her passing are four sons and three
daughters, Marie Cooper of South Roxana, Illinois, Erma and husband Ray
Anderson of Chandler, Oklahoma, Leo Pyatt and wife Geneva of Bourbon, Mo.,
Claud Pyatt and wife Mary of Cuba, Mo., Ken Pyatt and wife Helen of
Owensville, Mo., Mary and husband Lester McBenge of Steelville, Mo., and
Garland Pyatt of Cuba, Mo.
Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Noah and Juanita Pyatt of Cherryville,
Mo., Nellie and Homer Galt of California; twenty-four grandchildren; sixty
great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews,
cousins, other relatives and friends.
She lived her entire life in the Crawford County area. She attended the
Center Ridge Church and enjoyed going to church and living for God. She
lived her flowers and in her earlier years she enjoyed making quilts. She
also loved reading her Bible and talking to her friend, Jesus. God was her
strength. She will be missed by her family and friends.
Martha Jane Pyatt lay in state 3-9 p.m. Monday, February 5, 2001, at the
Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo. Funeral services were held
11 a.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2001, at the Center Ridge Pentecostal Church,
Cherryville, Mo. with Pastor Harrison Brown officiating and Rev. Bob
Coleman assisting. Musical selections were provided by vocalist Carol and
Bob Coleman and pianist Shirley Brown.
Committal prayers and interment were in Martin Cemetery, Cherryville, Mo.
Honoring their grandmother as pallbearers were Gary Anderson, Dennis
Cooper, Roy Cooper, Michael Koprivica, Randy Pyatt and Rick Pyatt.
Arrangements were under the direction of Britton Funeral Home, Steelville,
Mo.
Reba Marie Rocklage
Reba Marie Rocklage of Warrenton, Mo., formerly of Cuba, Mo., was born on
May 27, 1915 in Cook Station, Mo. to the union of Charles E. Reeves and
Sylvia A. Reeves nee Dunlap and passed away on February 2, 2001 at the age
of 85 years, 8 months and 5 days.
On July 30, 1938 Marie was united in marriage to Elmer W. Rocklage in St.
Louis, Mo. Two daughters Bonnie Jean and Nancy Marie were born to this
union. Marie and Elmer were happily married for sixty-two years.
Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life are her loving
husband Elmer Rocklage, her two daughters Bonnie Hinds, and Nancy Jessee;
five grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; two brothers and one
sister; other relatives and many friends.
Marie was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother,
sister, good friend to all that knew her and will be sadly missed.
Reba Marie Rocklage was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo.
on Monday, February 5, 2001. Memorial Services were held on Sunday,
February 11, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the Hope Bible Church in O'Fallon, Mo.
Memorials may be given to the Child Evangelist Fellowship, P.O. Box 348,
Warrenton, Mo. All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton
Funeral Home, Cuba, Mo.
Custer R. Walters
Custer R. Walters of Cuba, Mo. was born on July 23, 1924 in St. Paul,
Minnesota to the union of Harrison Walters and Irene May Walters nee
Garriet and passed away on February 6, 2001 at his home at the age of 76
years, 6 months and 13 days.
Custer was united in marriage to Nadine Blanton on March 17, 1947 in
Illinois. Three sons, Fredrick, Thomas and Robert; one daughter, Marilyn
Sue, were born to this union.
Custer was also preceded in death by his parents, daughter Marilyn Sue
Weston; son, Robert Daniel Walters.
He served in the United States Army from 1943 and until 1945. He received
the Bronze Star Medal, four Bronze Service Stars, a Distinguished Unit
Emblem, a Good Conduct Medal and a Purple Heart. Custer was also a life
time member of the American Legion and a member of the VFW Post 7147.
Those who survive to mourn his passing from this life are his loving wife
Nadine Walters; Fredrick and wife Judy Walters; Thomas Walters; one
son-in-law John Weston; seven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren,
other relatives and friends.
Custer was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, good
friend to all that knew him and will be sadly missed.
Custer R. Walters was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo.
where funeral services were held on Friday, February 9, 2001 at 1 p.m. with
the Rev. Leroy Nixon officiating. Interment was in the Bourbon Cemetery,
Bourbon, Mo. All arrangements under the direction of the Britton Funeral
Home of Cuba, Mo.
Samuel James Wilson
Samuel James Wilson of Cuba, Mo. was born on December 10, 1910 in Cuba, Mo.
to the union of Samuel Moore Wilson and Sarah Margaret Wilson nee Glassey
and passed away on February 4, 2001 at the Phelps County Regional Medical
Center, Rolla, Mo. at the age of 90 years, 1 month and 24 days.
Samuel was united in marriage to Juanita Westing in Steelville, Mo. One
son, Robert and one daughter Shirley were born to this union. They had been
happily married for 54 years until her death on July 11, 1993.
Samuel was also preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Charlie,
George, Frank, Harry and Walter; three half brothers, James, William and
Arthur; three half sisters, Edith, Edna, Lily.
He was born and raised in Cuba, and was a life long farmer.
Those who survive to mourn his passing from this life are his son Robert N.
Wilson and wife Debbie; daughter Shirley Krueger and husband Myron; six
grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three
step-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many
friends.
Samuel was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, good friend to
all that knew him and will be sadly missed.
Samuel James Wilson was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo.
where funeral services were held on Thursday, February 8, 2001 at 11 a.m.
with the Rev. Chuck Likely officiating. Interment was in the Kinder
Cemetery, Cuba, Mo. All arrangements under the direction of the Britton
Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo.
