Eddie Arnold Carpenter
Eddie Arnold Carpenter was born April 17, 1947 in
Tyrunza, Arkansas to the union of Lacy Carpenter Sr. and Robbie Mae
(Tollison) Carpenter. He passed away from heart failure at his home
in Paris, Tennessee on January 28, 2007 at the age of 59 years, 9
months and 11 days.
Corky, as he was known to family and friends, worked
briefly at the mines in Bixby, Missouri and then went to work for
the Cross County Road Department in Wynne, Arkansas. Later he went
to work as an EMT driving the ambulance for the Cross County
Hospital in Wynne, Arkansas.
In 1969 he took a job as an over the road truck driver
and retired in 2002 after 33 years due to failing health. His latest
passion had been riding motorcycles.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister,
Earnestine Carpenter; his grandparents, Eddie and Lilllie Tollison
and Aubrey and Pearl Carpenter and his step father, Glen Courtney.
He is survived by his six children, Eddie Tollison of
Marked Tree, Arkansas, Christina Weber and husband Bobby of Frisco,
Texas, Linda Hayes and husband Noah of Steelville, Missouri, Laura
Israel and husband Julian of Paris, Tennessee, Candi Moove and
husband Wils of Fort Carson, Colorado Springs, Colorado and George
Carpenter of Ramer, Tennessee.
Six step children, Anita McKenzie and husband Virgil of
Widener, Arkansas, Robert Brewer and wife Cindy of Finger,
Tennessee, Rebecca Richards and husband Robert of Murfeesboro,
Tennessee, Nancy Brewer and companion Ronnie Dobbs of Ramer,
Tennessee, Bobby Hutsel and wife Chasity of Camden, Tennessee and
Denise Baker of Tarpon Springs, Florida.
Brothers and sister, Henry Carpenter of Clovis,
California, Lacy Carpenter Jr. and companion Dawn Goddard of
Cherryville, Missouri and Missi Willis and husband Steve of Ozark,
Missouri.
Nine grandchildren, Bobby, Marcus and Cassandra Weber of
Frisco, Texas, Bianca and Johnathon Hallman and Tarah Israel of
Paris, Tennessee, Matthew Moore of Fort Carson, Colorado Springs,
Colorado, Alex and Beth Hayes from Steelville, Missouri.
Sixteen step grandchildren; one great grandchild; and
three step great grandchildren. He is also survived by his three
former wives, Loretta Baker of Cherry Valley, Arkansas, Nancy
Carpenter of Ramer, Tennessee and Betty Hutsel of Alaska.
Family visitation for Eddie Arnold Carpenter was held
January 31, 2007 at Ridgeway Funeral Home in Paris, Tennessee. His
final wish was to be cremated.
William Edward Hendrix
William Edward Hendrix, 68, passed away Monday, December 4, 2006
at Washington County Hospital, Plymouth, North Carolina.
He was born August 29, 1938 in Crawford County,
Missouri, the son of the late Elmer L. and Emma Ray Hendrix.
He was a retired electrician and refrigeration
technician with Weyerhauser Corportation, a U.S. Navy veteran with
service at the South Pole and was affiliated with Plymouth Church of
the Nazarene.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters,
Margaret Callahan, Hildred Becker, Aline Pinson and Mildred Hendrix;
brothers, Raymond Hendrix, Ray Hendrix, Reldon Hendrix and Kenneth
Hendrix.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Neta Spruill
Hendrix of Plymouth, North Carolina; daughters, Melody H. Tucker and
husband Craig of Columbia, North Carolina, Billie H. Council and
husband Ashley of Jamesville, North Carolina and Kris H. Worley and
husband Steve of Ft. Pierce, Florida; sons, Rayse E. Hendrix and
wife Cynthia of Plymouth, North Carolina and Mark Hendrix and wife
Stephanie of Plymouth, North Carolina.
Sisters-in-law, June Modlin and husband James of
Jamesville, North Carolina and Lillie Spruill of Plymouth, North
Carolina; special niece, Betty A. Halbert and husband Ken of
Steelville, Missouri; 11 grandchildren, four great grandchildren and
many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was Wednesday, December 6, 2006 from 7-8:30
p.m. at the Plymouth Church of the Nazarene.
Funeral services were held Thursday, December 7, 2006 at
11 a.m. in the Plymouth Church of the Nazarene.
Burial followed in the Hillside Memorial Gardens with
Reverend Steve Creech and Reverend Arnold Pressey officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Maitland
Funeral Home, Creswell, North Carolina.
Charles R. Leick
Charles Robert Leick of Davisville, Missouri, passed
away Sunday morning, February 4, 2007, one day after his 93rd
birthday, at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri
from complications following heart surgery.
Judge Leick, as he was affectionately known in the
community, served two terms as Crawford County Associate Circuit
Judge. He was born in Crookston, Minnesota on February 3, 1914. The
family later moved to Sioux Falls, North Dakota and eventually to
the St. Louis area where he completed his education. He was admitted
to the Missouri Bar in 1938. He had served of counsel to the Mazzei
and Broshot Attorneys at Law in Steelville, Missouri for over 20
years.
Charles lived on a cattle ranch on Crabtree Road for
over 40 years. Previously he was an officer in several surety
service companies in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Akron, Ohio and
finally Davisville, Missouri. His activities along with his wife
included supporting the Disabled Citizens Alliance for Independence
and the Show-Me State Heritage Association. His passion for
railroads and trails led him to be an avid model railroad enthusiast
and an international traveler. His travels took him and his wife to
Russia, China and Europe.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Yocom
Leick in 1999.
He is survived by four children, Jeanne Reiss, M.D. and
husband Scott Myers of Kansas City, Missouri, Robert Leick and wife
Janet of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Roger Leick and wife Marlene of
Minneapolis, Minnesota and Mary Kay Leick-Rude and husband Phil Rude
of Overland Park, Kansas.
Four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one step
daughter Judy Richards; three step grandchildren; six step great
grandchildren; brother, Jack Leick of Kirkwood, Missouri.
Memorial services for Judge Leick will be held Friday,
February 23, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home
with Rev. Scott Myers officiating.
There will be family visitation from 10 a.m. until
service time. Burial will be in the Valhalla Chapel of Memories in
St. Louis, Missouri.
Beverly Joyce Mikel
Beverly Joyce Mikel, age 74, of Steelville, Missouri
passed away Saturday, January 27, 2007 at St. John’s Mercy in St.
Louis, Missouri. She was born Thursday, February 25, 1932 in St.
Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Elzie and Lula (Flynn) Whiteside.
She was united in marriage to Sam Mikel on March 22,
1951 in Piggett, Arkansas and to this union three sons and two
daughters were born.
Beverly was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of
Steelville, Missouri. She enjoyed working in her garden and was
especially proud of her flowers. She loved to be on the “go.” She
loved to shop, go to county fairs to hear country singers, going to
Branson and most of all, loved the cabin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister,
Juanita Whiteside; one brother, George Whiteside and his wife Mary;
and one brother-in-law, Alvin Duval.
Those left to mourn Beverly’s passing are her husband,
Sam, of 55 years; three sons, Timothy Mikel of St. Louis, Missouri,
Danny Mikel of Steelville, Missouri and Larry Mikel of Jefferson
City, Missouri; two daughters, Debra Austin and husband Carey of St.
Charles, Missouri and Donna Reinagel and husband Steve of
Jacksonville, Florida.
Seven grandchildren, Carey Wayne Austin Jr., Ryan
Austin, Brannan Austin, Tyler Austin, Melanie Snelson and husband
Rhett, Stephen Reinagel and wife Erica, and Kayla Reinagel; two
great grandchildren, Riley Snelson and Hailey Snelson; two sisters,
Glenna Duval of St. Louis, Missouri and Alela Huesgen and husband
John of Frankenstein, Missouri.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 31, 2007
with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Memories of grandmother were
given by Carey Wayne Austin Jr.
Special music of “Amazing Grace” and “The Old Rugged
Cross” were sung by Finis Barr with Jerry Beers accompanying.
Committal prayers and burial was in the St. James
Cemetery in St. James, Missouri with Carey Wayne Austin Jr., Ryan
Austin, Brannan Austin, Stephen Reinagel Jr., Tim Mikel and Dan
Mikel serving as casketbearers.
Arrangements were under the direction of the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, Missouri.
Lloyd E. Roberts
Lloyd E. Roberts was born July 9, 1923 in St. Louis,
Missouri to Earl Newton and Fay (Davis) Roberts and passed away on
January 30, 2007 in Salem, Missouri, at the age of 83 years, 6
months and 21 days.
Lloyd was united in marriage to Leattrice Housewright on
July 30, 1945. They were the parents of two sons.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in
Steelville, Missouri. He was an alderman for many years in
Steelville, Missouri and was involved in the city council. He was
active in the Steelville Kiwanis and local Democrat party politics.
He was a member of the Lebanon Masonic Lodge 77 in Steelville,
Missouri and received his 50-year Masonic pin in 2001.
Lloyd served in the United States Army during World War
II. He was stationed in North Africa, Sicily and Italy where he saw
a lot of heavy action. It was during this time that he received a
Purple Heart. He was a member of the American Legion Post 99 for
many years.
He was avid in genealogy and enjoying painting. He was a
loyal St. Louis Cardinal fan, a master carpenter, he built many
houses in St. Louis, Salem and Steelville, Missouri. He loved
hunting, fishing and enjoyed the outdoors and farming. He still
owned the Brigman-Roberts farm, which has been in the family since
1851 and has been designated a Missouri Century Farm.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife on July
5, 1997 and a granddaughter, Amy Marie Roberts.
Lloyd is survived by two sons, Daniel L. Roberts of
Ironton, Missouri and Timothy Clayton Roberts and wife, Malinda, of
Steelville, Missouri; one granddaughter, Jodi Anne Roberts of Los
Angeles, California; two brothers, Henry Roberts and wife Dottie and
Wayne Roberts and wife Mary Jo, all from Salem, Missouri; three
sisters, Dorothea Brooks of Erin, Tennessee, Christina Klohr and
husband Dick of Manchester, Missouri and Shirley Whitmire and
husband Charles of Salem, Missouri; several nieces, nephews and many
friends.
Funeral service for Lloyd E. Roberts was at 11 a.m.
Saturday, February 3, 2007 at Dent County Memorial Chapel with Rev.
Chuck Whitmire officiating.
Closing thoughts and benediction were given by Rev.
Catherine Hillquist. Music was provided by Annette Steelman as
soloist with Catherine Dent as organist.
Pallbearers were Stewart Carmier, Kyle Whitmire, Jack
Inman, Bill Housewright, Wayne Blunt and Ryan Whitmire. Honorary
pallbearers were Lawrence Tune, Charles Whitmire, Richard Klohr, Ken
Fiebig and Jack Roberts.
Interment was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery with full
military honors.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Dent County
Memorial Chapel, Salem, Missouri.
John Henry Rook
John Henry Rook was born at Cuba, Missouri on October 24, 1922
to William and Blanch (Shoults) Rook and passed away at the
Gasconade Manor Nursing Home in Owensville, Missouri on January 30,
2007 at the age of 84 years.
He married Delma Dyhouse on August 7, 1971 at Hermann
United Methodist Church.
He served in the U.S. Navy with the 60th CB’s from
1942-1945 crossing the equator twice; receiving the Victory Medal,
American Area Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Medal, Point System Diach Medal
and the Good Conduct Medal. He was employed as a machinist, was a
member of the St. John’s United Church of Christ in Bem and member
of the Owensville VFW Post #6133.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Gladys Copeland and
Mabel Krause; brothers, Glenn and Raymond Rook.
He is survived by his wife, Delma; children, Sharon
Coleman and husband Don of Hermann, Missouri, Vera Kreter and
husband John of Owensville, Missouri, Carol Harris of Owensville,
Missouri, Ronald Wehmeyer and wife Theresa of Sullivan, Missouri and
Randy Satterfield of Owensville, Missouri; seven grandchildren; 10
great grandchildren and a brother, Aaron Rook of Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral services were Friday, February 2, 2007 at 10:30
a.m. at St. John’s United Church of Christ with Pastor Hal Landwehr
officiating.
Burial was in the St. John’s United Church of Christ
Cemetery, Bem, Missouri.
Arrangements were under the Gottenstroeter Funeral Home,
Owensville, Missouri.
Bobby Wade
Robert Eugene Wade of Steelville, Missouri, was born on
Tuesday, August 16, 1960 to Donald Eugene Wade and Patricia Ruth
Giblin Wade. He passed away from the results of an automobile
accident on Saturday, January 27, 2007.
Bobby was a self-employed farmer and especially loved
animals. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; mother,
Patricia Reichert; step-father, Bernard Riechert and sister, Terry
Ann Wade.
He is survived by his father, Donald Eugene Wade and
wife Sylvia of St. Peters, Missouri; brother, Donald W. Wade and
wife Diane of Cuba, Missouri; sisters, Gail Brown and husband Frank
of Arnold, Missouri, Mary Bumb and husband John of Hillsboro,
Missouri, Lisa Sewell and husband Dave of High Ridge, Missouri; best
friend, William Langley of Steelville, Missouri; nieces, nephews,
great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation was Monday, January 29, 2007 at the Hutson
Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services were
at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at the Hutson Funeral Home in
Cuba, Missouri with Rev. Bob Knight officiating.
All arrangements were under the direction of the Hutson
Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri.
