Patrick Michael Baker
Patrick Michael Baker of St. James, Missouri was born on November 29, 1946
in Norris, Pennsylvania to John F. and Maude W. (Gray) Baker and passed
away at his home on Friday, February 3, 2012 at the age of 65 years,
2 months and 5 days.
Patrick Baker was united in marriage to Ute Ward on November 28, 1986
in Ft. Riley, Kansas.
Patrick was an excellent electrician.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Maude Baker.
He is survived by his wife, Ute Baker of St. James, Missouri; two sons,
Michael H. Baker and wife Anne Marie of Springfield, Missouri and
Douglas P. Baker of Springfield, Missouri; one daughter, Caitlin Baker
of St. James, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 9-10 a.m. on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at the
Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. James, Missouri.
Memorial services were conducted on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 10 a.m.
at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. James, Missouri with
Charles Pardee officiating.
Burial was in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery in St. James,
Missouri. Arrangements under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in
St. James, Missouri.
Rev. Dwight G. Barton
Rev. Dwight G. Barton of St. Louis, Missouri was born July 1, 1929 in
Black, Missouri to Henry and Vada (Johnson) Barton and passed away
February 6, 2012 at the age of 83 years.
On October 19, 1946 he married the former Gail Mathis in Salem, Missouri.
Rev. Barton retired as the pastor of Hope Assembly of God Church after
29 years of service.
He was preceded in death by a son, Mark Barton.
He is survived by his wife, Gail Barton; son, Danny Joe (Cathy) Barton;
brother, Eldon (Claudette) Barton; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at Hoffmeister
South County Chapel, St. Louis, Missouri and from 9 a.m. Thursday,
February 9, 2012 until service time at the Friendship Assembly of God
Church.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at
Friendship Assembly of God Church.
Graveside services were at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at the
Boss Cemetery, Boss, Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the Hoffmeister South County Chapel in
St. Louis, Missouri.
Elmer L. Brand
Elmer L. Brand of Cuba, Missouri was born on Saturday, May 20, 1922 in
St. Louis, Missouri to John Henry and Gladys Minnie Jacobs Brand and passed
away on Monday, February 6, 2012 at the age of 89 years, 8 months and
17 days.
Elmer served honorably in the United States Army during WWII and received
many medals.
Elmer married Bernice Luster on June 25, 1957 in St. Louis, Missouri.
He worked for JC Penney in the maintenance department, then later for
St. Louis Bi-State transit driving a city bus for 17 years. He was promoted
to foreman and then radio dispatcher. After retirement, he moved to Cuba
in 1994 where he enjoyed the outdoors, squirrel hunting and going to
auctions. He also, was a collector of trinkets and news articles. He
especially enjoyed watching WWII movies.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Gladys Brand; daughter,
Mary Frances Baker; son, Donald Brand; brothers, Clifford, Harold Daniel,
Marvin, Robert and Ralph Richard Brand; sisters, Florence and Willma
(Edward) Christopher; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Harold, Bob,
and Charlie Luster, Margaret Simmons, Irene Payne and Jeanette Hawes.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice “Honey” Brand of Cuba, Missouri;
daughter, Judy Brand of St. Louis, Missouri; son, Robert L. Brand of
Cuba, Missouri; brother, Lawrence Brand of Atlanta, Georgia and sister,
Christine (Carl) Besemer of Cuba, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Graveside service was Monday, February 13, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the Kinder
Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri with Rev. Delmar Hutson officiating and full
military honors.
Arrangements under the direction of the Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba,
Missouri.
Ruby Kate DeMorrow
Ruby Kate DeMorrow nee Kelley of Viburnum, Missouri was born on Tuesday,
October 15, 1929 in Hemet, California to Andrew Venus and Rosa May
Reynolds Kelley and passed away at Phelps County Regional Medical Center
on Friday, February 3, 2012 at the age of 82 years, 3 months and 19 days.
Ruby married Louis Lloyd DeMorrow on May 12, 1958 and to this union seven
children were raised.
Ruby accepted Jesus Christ as her Saviour in 1972 at Faithway Baptist
Church in Union City, California where she also, was a Vacation Bible
School teacher. She later joined First Baptist Church, Viburnum, Missouri
after moving from California. Her hobbies were cooking, canning,
crocheting, watching movies with her grandchildren and playing games at
family gatherings.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Rosa Kelley;
husband, Louis; daughter, Dianna Rosemary Killeen; son, Michael Arthur
DeMorrow; brother, Robert Kelley; sister, Rosa Lee Reyes; son-in-law,
Ray Hicks; brothers-in-law, Jack Horner and Michael DeMorrow;
sister-in-law, Cordelia (Willie) Smith.
She is survived by her children, Linda Hicks of Louisville, Nebraska,
Patricia DeMorrow, Theresa (Dana) Faddis, Kelley (Willie) Sutherland and
Vincent DeMorrow, all of Viburnum, Missouri; brother, Andy (Bernadette)
Kelly and sister, Mickey Horner, all of Viburnum, Missouri; son-in-law,
John Killeen of Pescadero, California; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law,
Wilfred (Mie) DeMorrow and Joan DeMorrow, all of Three Oaks, Michigan,
Thomas (Yvonne) DeMorrow of Las Vegas, Nevada, David (Shirley) DeMorrow
of Camden, Arkansas, Teresa (Paul) Keller of Statesville, North Carolina
and Tina Childers of Stockton, California; 20 grandchildren; 32 great
grandchildren; 20 great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Memorial service was Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 3 p.m. at First
Baptist Church, Viburnum, Missouri with Pastor Kenny Martin officiating.

Gene Arthur Hadley
Gene Arthur Hadley of St. James was born September 19, 1954 in
Steelville, Missouri to Charles and Evelyn (Bell) Hadley and passed
away Thursday February 9, 2012 at the Missouri Baptist Hospital in
St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 57 years 4 months and 21 days.
He was united in marriage to Barbara (Bobbie) Jo Picker Hadley on
February 14, 1987 in Rolla, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by one son, Bobby (Charlie) Hadley; brother,
William (Billy) A. Hadley, step-daughter, Dawn Renee Schnuchmann; and
sister-in-law, Debbie Sieber.
Survivors include his parents, Charles and Evelyn Hadley of St. James,
Missouri; wife, Barbara (Bobbie) Jo Hadley of St. James, Missouri; sons,
Nathaniel Hadley and wife Michelle of Rolla, Missouri, Brian Hadley and
wife Sarah of St. Louis, Missouri; brothers, Wilford Hadley of St. James,
Missouri, Ray and wife Gloria Hadley of Wright City, Missouri, Gary and
wife Norma Hadley of O’Fallon, Missouri, Dennis Hadley of Rolla, Missouri,
Larry and wife Doris Hadley of California and John Hadley of St. James,

Visitation was from 9-11 a.m. on Monday February 13, 2012 at the Jones
Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri.
Funeral service was conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 13, 2012
at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri with Gene Branson
officiating.
Pallbearers were Lonnie Schuchmann, Stanley Picker, Brian Hadley,
Tyler Schuchmann, Billy Lloyd and Doug Sherfy.
Burial with full military honors was at the St. James Cemetery.

St. James, Missouri.
Joyce Ann Hudson
Joyce Ann Hudson of St. Peters, Missouri formerly of St. Ann, Missouri was
born November 11, 1956 at St. Louis, Missouri to Robert Nelson Hudson Jr.
and Marcella Fortado Hudson and passed away Saturday, February 4, 2012 at
St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 55 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nelson Jr. and Marcella Hudson and
one sister, Susan Hudson Williams.
She is survived by four children, Heather Pearson, Mindy Pearson, Vanessa
McBurnett and Bradley McBurnett; five grandchildren, Calvin, Clayton, Walter,
Vincent and Sydney; two sisters, Patricia Hudson Brewer and Janice Hudson
Weaver; two brothers, Robert Nelson Hudson and David William Hudson; other
relatives and friends.
In keeping with Joyce’s wishes, private graveside services were held at
the Oak Hill Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri with Father James Finder officiating.
A memorial mass will be held at a later date.
Arrangements under the direction of the Mizell Funeral Home in Cuba,
Missouri.
Katherine P. (Gargus) Shackelford
Katherine P. (Gargus) Shackelford of St. James, Mo. passed away in Jefferson
City, Mo. on February 16, 2012. Katherine Shackelford was 77 years, 3 months
and 2 days of age.
Katherine Shackelford was born on November 14, 1934 in Cuba, Mo. to her
parents: Pearl and Anna Elizabeth (Brooks) Gargus. Katherine Brooks was
united in marriage to Lewis Lavern Shackelford in 1954, in St. Louis,
Mo.
Katherine Shackelford was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-
grandmother. Katherine worked for the James Foundation; was a bus driver
for many years; and she and her husband Buck owned and operated the Bucks
Lodge and Canoe Rental. Katherine loved to travel and taking trips in their
motor home.
Katherine Shackelford is survived by three sons: Earnest Shackelford of
Urbana, Mo.; Dale Allen Shackelford of St. James, Missouri; and Lewis
(Tiger) Shackelford and wife Mary of Jefferson City, Mo.; two daughters:
Janet Gruver and husband Jimmy of Cuba, Mo.; and Patricia Delaschmitt of
Columbia, Mo.; one sister: Louise (Gargus) Ballard of Illinois; grand-
children: Alicia Ventura, Adam Shackelford, Sara and Steve Green, Katie
Shackelford, Blake Shackelford, Amy and David Parrott, Josh and Melissa
Gruver, Emily and Shannon Moreland, Elizabeth Gruver, Megan Shackelford,
Brandon Shackelford, Chelsea White, William White and Shane Faulkner;
eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding Katherine Shackelford in death is her husband: Lewis Lavern
Shackelford on January 6, 2011, her parents: Pearl and Anna (Brooks) Gargus;
one daughter: Susan Diane Shackelford; six brothers: Donald, Vernon,
Orville, Edward, Floyd, and Martin Gargus; and one sister: Millie Gargus.
Visitation for Katherine Shackelford will be on Saturday, February 18, 2012
from 3 - 8 P.M. at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri.
Services will be on Sunday, February 19, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at the Jones
Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri with Jessie Parrott officiating.??

Judith Irene Twente
Judith Irene Twente of St. James, Missouri was born on October 12, 1943
in San Francisco, California to Deward and Irene S. (Tolosko) Litton and
passed away in St. Clair, Mo. on February 3, 2012. Judith was 68 years,
3 months and 22 days of age.
Judith Twente was a 4-H Leader and a Community Leader.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Deward and Irene Litton.
She is survived by her husband, George Arvene Twente of St. James,
Missouri; two sons, Adam Lance Twente of Santa Rosa, California; Raymond
Simone Riccette and wife Leslie G. of St. James, Missouri; one daughter,
Laura Ann Riccetti of St. James, Missouri; one brother, Andy Tillotson of
St. James, Missouri; brothers and sisters in the state of California;
six grandchildren, Dominique M. Gilliam, Justin R. Romine, Ryan C. Romine,
Matthew Twente, Isabella S. Riccetti, and Savanna M. Riccetti; great
grandchildren, Blake A. Gilliam, Lucas R. Gilliam and Alexis L. Gilliam;
other relatives and friends.
Visitation was Tuesday, February 7, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at the Jones
Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri.
Graveside services were conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 8, 2012
at the St. James Cemetery in St. James, Missouri with Charles Pardee
officiating.
Pallbearers were Ryan Romine, Dylan Harmount, Aystyn Harmount, Raymond
Riccetti, L.D. Harmount and Justin Romine. Honorary pallbearers were
David Willis and Adam Twente.
Burial was in the family plot in the St. James Cemetery in St. James,
Missouri.

Edward C. Wallis
Edward C. Wallis of Bourbon, Missouri was born at Steelville, Missouri
on September 19, 1935 to Edward C. and Virginia (Mullen) Wallis and passed
away at Missouri Baptist Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri, on Wednesday,
February 8, 2012 at the age of 76 years, 4 months and 19 days.
Ed, as he was known by his family and friends, was raised in the Leasburg
area and graduated from Bourbon High School in 1954. He honorably served
his country during the Korean War with the U.S. Army.
On September 14, 1957 Ed married Marilyn S. Merkel in the Concordia
Lutheran Church at Bourbon, Missouri and to this marriage four children
were born.
Ed was first employed by Fred Weber Construction in their Asphalt Division.
He later came to Bourbon, Missouri and purchased the Bourbon Roller Mill
where he was self-employed until his retirement. Ed also owned and
operated Feed and Farm stores in Steelville and St. James, Missouri.
He was a former Director of the Bank of Bourbon and was currently a
Director at the Bank of Sullivan. He was past president of the Crawford
County Cattleman’s Association, member of the Farm Bureau, IPLA Board, was
a past Crawford County Commissioner, served on the Bourbon School Board,
and was currently on the Board of the Crawford County Senior Citizens.
His passion was raising cattle and farming. Ed was a member of Concordia
Lutheran Church and had served as Elder and Trustee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Virginia Wallis; a
brother, Bill Wallis; a sister, Viola Wallis and brothers-in-law, Jim Wilcox
and Marvin Dorson.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn of the family home; two sons, Marc
Wallis and wife Barbara of Sunset Hills, Missouri and Randy Wallis and
wife Jennell of Bourbon, Missouri; two daughters, Reta Wallis and life
partner Tom O’Rourke of Town and Country, Missouri and Christa Jones and
husband Todd of Sullivan, Missouri; one brother, Robert Wallis and wife Pat
of St. Charles, Missouri; two sisters, Shirley Wilcox of Sullivan and Jean
Keck of Rolla, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Lynn Wallis of Cuba, Missouri; and
Janice Dorson of Sullivan; five grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. at
Concordia Lutheran Church on Saturday, February 11, 2012.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2012
from Concordia Lutheran Church in Bourbon with Pastor Patrick Runk
officiating.
Interment was in the Bourbon Cemetery.
Arrangements under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan,
Missouri.
