Lucy Marie Blanc
Lucy Marie Blanc nee Word of Cuba, Missouri was born on Wednesday,
August 16, 1933 in St. Louis, Missouri to James M. and Agnes Benson Word
and passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at the age of 77 years,
5 months and 28 days.
Lucy married Ronald Blanc on September 15, 1954 in Wichita, Kansas and to
this union seven children were born.
Lucy was a gifted artist painting mostly florals in water pastels and oils.
She enjoyed gardening, raising dogs, cats, and goats on her farm. She was
a homemaker and adored her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Agnes Word; husband,
Ron; five sisters and four brothers.
She is survived by her children, Kevin Blanc of Cuba, Missouri, Cary (Mary)
Blanc, Joe Blanc, and Belina Schutz all of St. James, Missouri, Matthew
Blanc of Topeka, Kansas, Mary Anne Blanc of Cuba, Missouri and Jenny (Greg)
Byington of Rolla, Missouri; brother Thomas (Nancy) Word of Oregon;
brother-in-law, Claude Blanc of St. Louis, Missouri; sisters-in-law,
Rosalie Hotop of Perryville, Missouri, and Beverly Horn of Illinois;
10 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; other relatives and
friends.
No public service will be held.

Lawrence D. Campbell
Lawrence D. Campbell of Rolla, Missouri was born on February 23, 1924 in
Rolla, Missouri to Columbus and Anna (McCorkie) Campbell and passed away
Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at the age of 86 years.
He married Hester L. Bowen.
He was a WWII Army veteran and served in Ardennes, Rhineland, Normandy and
Northern France. He was awarded the Purple Heart during his military service.
He was also an avid fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Columbus and Anna Campbell; his
wife, Hester on September 21, 2001; daughter, Roberta Lisch; three sisters,
Jean Davis, Helen Bailey and Ruth Carroll; and three brothers, Roy Campbell,
Donald Campbell and Ernie Campbell.
He is survived by three daughters, Catherine Berry of Rolla, Missouri,
Diane Lawson of Desoto, Missouri and Dalene Barker of St. James, Missouri;
two sisters, Maxine Lemke and Joan Yoakum, both of Rolla, Missouri.
Visitation was held on Sunday, February 13, 2011 beginning at 1 p.m. at
the Null and Son Funeral Home in Rolla, Missouri.
Funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at
the Null and Son Funeral Home in Rolla, Missouri with Pastor Dan Phillips
officiating.
Interment with military honors followed in the Roach Cemetery in
Doolittle, Missouri.

Austin Arden Morris
Austin Arden Morris of Cuba, Missouri was born June 13, 1918 at Thayer,
Missouri and passed away Monday, February 7, 2011 at Rolla, Missouri at the
age of 92 years, 7 months and 22 days.
Austin was united in marriage to Lillie Lee Riley on December 31, 1937 and
to this union one son was born.
Austin proudly served in the United States Army from November 1944 until
November 1946.
After World War II they moved to Steelville where they purchased a furniture
store, and later purchased farmland outside of town where they operated a
registered Angus farm.
In June of 1959 Austin became a real estate agent for United Farm Agency
where he worked until he retired to the farm in 1970. He retired from farming
in 1985, but he never really retired for he has worked in stocks, bonds and
investments for the last 41 years.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, VFW and American Legion of
Steelville and a Mason for over 50 years. He enjoyed quail hunting, fishing,
pheasant hunting and being outdoors.
On February 14, 2000 Austin was united in marriage to Loreta “Reta”, nee Dye,
and they spent many years traveling together and enjoying life.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Peggy Smith and
Betty Morris; first wife, Lillie on February 16, 1999; son, William; other
relatives and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Reta Morris of the home; three step children,
Carol Ann and husband Ron McSorley of Liberty, Missouri, Allen and wife
Sherry Jennings of Center Town, Missouri and Brenda and husband Terry
Wilkinson of Jefferson City, Missouri; five step grandchildren, Tammy
McSorley and husband Chuck Sundermeyer, Mark and wife Kim McSorley, Tyler
Jennings and Aimee Wilkinson, Elizabeth Barnard; two step great
grandchildren, Evan McSorley and Declan McSorley; cousins, Mary Sue and
husband Ken Farrell and Olan and wife Euda Russel; special friends, Treff
and Sandy Earney and Allen and Wanda Grayson; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Thursday, February 10, 2011 from 4-8 p.m. at the
Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral service was held 11 a.m. on Friday, February 11, 2011 at the
Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri
Interment and prayers followed at the Steelville Cemetery, Steelville,
Missouri with full military honors.

Oren Junior Reed
Oren Junior Reed of St. James, Missouri was born in Maries County, Missouri
on October 6, 1929 to John and Millie Frances (Leach) Reed and passed away
at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center on February 7, 2011. Oren Reed
was 81 years, 4 months and 1 day of age.
Oren Reed was united in marriage to Essie Marie Hanes on October 6, 1949
in Salem, Arkansas.
Oren Reed worked for Fisher Body, Arthur Dillon Clay mining and for
California Manufacturing Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Taylor and Millie Frances
Reed; wife, Essie Marie Reed on February 4, 1993; one son, John Reed; one
daughter, Eva Marie Soper; two brothers, William and David Fredrick and one
sister, Beulah Lee Reed.
He is survived by three sons, Lawrence Reed and wife Ruby of Cuba, Missouri,
Timothy Reed of St. James, Missouri and Jay Hanes and wife Beverly of
Cuba, Missouri; one daughter-in-law, Diane Reed of St. James, Missouri;
and three grandchildren, John Reed Jr. and wife Sarah, Josha Reed and
Amber Reed.
Visitation was on Thursday, February 10, 2011 from 5-8 p.m. at the
Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri.
Funeral services were conducted on Friday, February 11, 2011 at 11 a.m.
at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel with Marshall Hagler officiating.
Pallbearers were Jay Hanes, Brian Hanes, Richard Callahan, Scott
Westerman, John Reed Jr. and Lester Bridgeman.
Burial was in the family plot in the High Gate Church Cemetery in rural
St. James, Missouri.

Lloyd E. Rose
Lloyd E. Rose was born October 2, 1915 in St. Louis, Missouri to Harvey and
Edna (Koetter) Rose and passed away Friday, February 11, 2011 in St. Louis
at the age of 95 years.
Lloyd was a WWII veteran and avid fisherman and hunter. He also wrote
many articles on archeology.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Edna Rose and wife,
LaVerne Rose.
He is survived by children, Gerald (Jill) Rose of Cherryville, Missouri,
Marilyn (Gary) Precht of St. Louis, Missouri and Diane (Manuel) Favignano
of Winfield, Missouri; grandchildren, Shawn Rose, Jason (Kim) Favignano,
Heather (David) Thompson and Felicia (Alex) Milberg; great grandchildren,
Megan and Cody Thompson; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 9-11 a.m. with the funeral service at 11 a.m. on
Monday, February 14, 2011 at Hutchens Mortuary in Florissant, Missouri.
Interment was at the Friedens Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri with
military honors.

Missouri.
Douglas A. Summers, Sr.
Douglas A. Summers, Sr. of Sullivan, Missouri, was born on June 13, 1962
in Sullivan, Missouri to Kenneth E. and Jackie (nee Witt) Summers and
passed away, Tuesday, February 2, 2011, at the age of 48 years.
He grew up in Sullivan and after graduating from SHS in 1980 he joined
the US Navy where he honorably served four years.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Brad Summers.
He is survived by his parents, Jackie Kline and husband Bob and
Kenneth E. Summers and wife Margaret, all of Sullivan, Missouri; four
children, Doug Summers, Jr. and wife Julie of Sullivan, Missouri, Dylan
Summers of Bourbon, Missouri, Stephanie Summers of Washington, Missouri,
and step-son, Anthony Murray of Owensville, Missouri; one step-sister,
Chantel Jensen of Warner Robbins, Georgia; grandchildren; other relatives
and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, February 9, 2011
at the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor James
Austin officiating.
Burial followed in the National Cemetery, Jefferson Barracks, Missouri
at 2 p.m., with full military honors.
Arrangements under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan,
Missouri.
Tammy Sue Thomas
Tammy Sue Thomas of Cuba, Missouri was born December 2, 1093 at Ottawa,
Kansas to Orville Timothy Jr. and Janet King and passed away Wednesday,
February 9, 2011 at the age of 47 years, 2 months and 7 days.
Tammy graduated college from Cape Girardeau, Missouri and then went to work
for D.F.S. in Cape. After moving to Cuba Tammy worked at Pathways until she
retired in 2003.
She enjoyed fishing with her dad, drawing, listening to music and playing
the guitar. She collected Coke items, Indian dolls, dream catchers and other
original Indian items. She loved people, especially little kids, her dog
Mandy, her Angel fish, her black Dodge Ram pickup but what she truly loved
most was her daughter, parents, family and spending time with all of them.
She was preceded in death by her father, Orville Timothy King, Jr. her
grandfather, Orville Timothy King; her Lunsford and Thomas grandparents;
other relatives and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Tabitha Morse of Cuba, Missouri; parents,
Janet and Charles Thomas of Cuba, Missouri; grandmother, Bernice King of
Glencoe, Minnesota; aunts and uncles, Sharon and husband Billy Carl of
Black, Missouri, Raney Gene and wife Helen Lunsford of Monroe, North
Carolina, Leonard Thomas and friend Waynette Walker of Cleburne, Texas,
Jim and wife Mary Stevens of Keller, Texas, Larry and wife Connie McGuire
of Glencoe, Minnesota, Calvin and wife Ann King of Arizona, Larry and wife
Wanda King of Florida and Linda and husband Mark Hatlestad; other relatives
and friends.
Visitation was held Friday, February 11, 2011 from 5-8 p.m. at the Britton
Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at the
Covenant Praise Church of God, 309 N Mapleshade, Cuba, Missouri with Pastor
Mark Smith officiating. Special music will be “If I Die Young,” “I Will
Always Love You,” “Live Like You Were Dying” and “Landslide.”
Casket bearers were Billy Carl, Eric Gregory, Chris Lunsford, Fernando
Padilla, Nathan Howard and Dean Hayes.
Interment and prayers followed at the Kinder Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.

Elva F. Tyree
Elva F. Tyree of Sullivan, Missouri was born in the Oak Hill area near
Cuba, Missouri on February 10, 1929 to Elmer and Mamie West Osborn and
passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at the age of 81 years.
Elva was a life-long resident of the Sullivan area and on January 3, 1948
was united in marriage to Roscoe F. Tyree and to this union two children
were born.
For a time, Elva was employed at the former International Shoe Company
in Sullivan, Missouri as a secretary and office worker. Later in life,
she was employed as a sales clerk at the Western Auto store in Sullivan.
She loved to cook for everyone especially her family. She also enjoyed
crafting, writing poems and drawing. Elva was a faithful member of the
First Assembly of God in Sullivan where she was a former Sunday school
teacher, director of Children’s Church, member of W.M.’s and directed
many cantatas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe F. Tyree three weeks ago.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Nancy Tyree of
Sullivan, Missouri; a daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Richard Leake
of Sullivan, Missouri; brother, John Marion Osborn of Cuba, Missouri; two
sisters, Jean Cuneio of Sullivan, Missouri and Ermma Schmidt of Rocky Mount,
Missouri; four grandchildren, Cassie Johnston and husband David, Chad Leake
and Austin and Wesley Tyree; two great grandchildren, Matthew and Ethan
Johnston; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at the Eaton
Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri and on Wednesday, February 9, 2011
from 9 a.m. until time of service at First Assembly of God Church.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 9, 2011
from First Assembly of God in Sullivan, Missouri with Pastor Jerry
Cuneio officiating.
Interment was in I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Anthony “Tony” Joseph Viessman
Anthony “Tony” Joseph Viessman of Rolla, Missouri was born on
November 25, 1934 in Vienna, Missouri to Charles and Josephine Viessman,
and passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2011 in Allentown, Pennsylvania at
the age of 76 years.
In March of 1957, Tony married Jan Sue Licklider of Belle, Missouri.
He graduated from Vienna High School, where he played baseball, basketball,
and set a pole-vault record, which stood for 45 years. He also attended
Central Missouri College in Warrensburg. His first job was painting
bridges over Missouri’s rivers. Tony and seven of his brothers served in
the Armed Forces during World War II and the Korean War.
From 1958 until his retirement in 1989, Tony served in the Missouri
Highway Patrol, retiring as a Lieutenant.
As a self-proclaimed “good old boy from Missouri,” Tony loved to hunt,
fish, and play golf. He was a loyal fan of the Missouri Tigers and the
Saint Louis Cardinals. A lifelong Democrat, Tony was also active in
politics. Along with friend Les Spencer, Tony founded “Rednecks For Obama”
during the 2010 Presidential Election. At this time Tony and Les traveled
across the United States in support of President Obama.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Josephine Viessman and
his wife, Jan, on March 25, 2010.
He is survived by four daughters, Beth Bextermueller and husband Jim of
Cincinnati, Ohio, Sara Viessman and husband Ron Swinfard of Allentown,
Pennsylvania, Jennie Viessman of Cypress, Texas, and Julie MacCash and
husband Rusty of Rolla; his brother, Charles Viessman of Chicago, Illinois;
nine grandchildren, Ryan Dillon, Adam Dillon, Ross Bextermueller, Rachel
Bextermueller, Heath Garcia (wife Kristen and son Jacob), Nicholas Garcia
of Houston, Texas, Peter Sotiropoulos, Beth Sotiropoulos and Hanna
Sotiropoulos; his trusty canine, Toby; other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life was held on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Oak
Meadow Country Club in Rolla, Missouri from 3-6 p.m.
Arrangements under the direction of the James & Gahr Mortuary in
Rolla, Missouri.
Robert “Bob” Ellis Weekley Sr.
Robert Ellis Weekley Sr. was born in St. Louis, Missouri January 5, 1938
and passed away Super Bowl Sunday, February 6, 2011 at the age of 73 years.
Bob had prime seats when his team won.
Bob was raised in Steelville, Missouri and lived most of his years in
Springfield, Missouri
He served in the U.S. Army.
Bob coached many youth sports team, young professionals and peers throughout
his life.
He credited many wonderful experiences in other places he lived including
Iceland, Kansas City, St. Louis, Washington D.C. and New York City. As a
career Sales Executive, Bob touched many lives through General Foods, Gaines
Foods, PMI and Dean Foods. Some of his most memorable times were spent
racing with his Fast Track friends.
As an inaugural member of Highland Springs Country Club, Homeowners
Association and Board of Directors, Bob helped shape this community at which
he thoroughly enjoyed dining, golfing and living for 21 years. One of his
greatest joys was supporting the Missouri State University sports teams.
Bob came to Springfield in 1959, secured a job at Ralph Brown Market as a
meat cutter with the goal of funding his college education at Missouri
State University, which he achieved in 1962.
He is the son of Ellis Weekley and Francis Halbert and the beloved
son-in-law of Charles and Lovie McDaniel. Bob had a half-brother Bill
Halbert. He is survived by his wife, Judy Weekley of 51 years; daughter,
Debra Weekley; son, Robert E. Weekley Jr.; son-in law, Mark Cartier;
grandchildren, Lauren and Bryce Cartier and Melissa and
Robert E. Weekley III. Bob’s friends provided him with an amazing life
filled with fun, stories, support and experiences.
Services were Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral
Home Chapel at Rivermonte, Springfield, Missouri at 2 p.m. with service at
3 p.m.
Interment will be at a later date at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in
South Springfield, Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the Klinger-Cope Family Funeral Home
Chapel at Rivermonte, Springfield, Missouri.
