Lorraine Mabel Mobray
Lorraine Mabel Mobray was born Sunday, November 3, 1935, at Cherryville,
Missouri, a daughter of the late Cebe Martin and Beulah (Atchison) Martin.
Lorraine entered eternal rest Friday, February 6, 2004, at her home, the
same farm on which she was born, on White River Road in Cherryville,
Missouri at the age of 68 years, 3 months and 3 days.
Lorraine worked as a cook in a restaurant and also enjoyed raising cattle
and horses. She professed her faith in God and Jesus Christ, was baptized
and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cherryville, Missouri.
In addition to Lorraine's parents, she was preceded in death by two
brothers, Oren Martin and Buck Martin, and an infant sister.
Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her children, Marshall
Martin and wife Tammy of Cherryville, Missouri and Janie Campbell and
husband Clint of Salem, Missouri. Brothers Glen Martin and wife Marie of
Cherryville, Missouri and Bob Martin and wife Charlotte of Eureka, Missouri.
Sisters Ada Blackwell and husband Ray of Steelville, Missouri and Erma Dunn
and husband Steve of Jefferson City, Missouri. Sisters-in-law Melba Martin of
Davisville, Missouri and Cleta Martin of Lebanon, Missouri. Grandchildren Kevin
and Jennifer Martin, both of Cherryville, Missouri; nieces, nephews, cousins,
other relatives and many dear friends, who will fondly remember her and
miss her.
Lorraine Mabel Mobray lay in state from 3-8 p.m. Sunday, February 8, 2004
at the Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Funeral
services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 9, 2004 in the Britton
Chapel with Rev. Robert Coleman officiating. Eulogy was given by Robert Morton.
Musical selections were provided by Mike Morton accompanied by Alice Morton.
Committal prayers and interment were in the Schwieder Cemetery, rural
Steelville, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were Steve Dunn, Mitch
Martin, Matthew Martin, Michael Morton, Robert Morton and John Thorpe.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Brothers Funeral
Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Otis Price Phillips
Otis Prince Phillips, formerly of Affton, Mo., was born on October 25, 1913
in Ashland, Mo. to Reuben Guy Phillips and Mary E. Burnett Phillips.
He passed away at Missouri Baptist Hospital, Sullivan, Mo. on Tuesday,
February 10, 2004 at the age of 90 years, 3 months and 16 days.
Otis married Loretta Hefty and to this union one son was born. After her
death, he later married Mildred Cloninger on November 12, 1959 at First
Baptist Church, Affton, Mo. He was a lab technician for General Steel
Industry and retired from there.
Otis had been an active member of First Baptist Church, Affton, Mo. where
he was an ordained deacon and taught Jr. Sunday School for many years.
Otis had a love for cars and taking care of them.
His other hobby was sports, especially basketball and golf. He was the
grandsons first golf instructor and also coached girls softball. Most of
all, he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Mildred Phillips of O'Fallon, Mo.; son Jerry
Phillips and wife Bernadette of O'Fallon, Mo.; one brother James R.
Phillips and wife Peggy Joyce of Jefferson City, Mo.; grandsons Todd
Phillips and wife Heather of Lake St. Louis, Mo., Derek Phillips and wife
Jennifer of St. Peters, Mo.; one great grandson Connor Phillips; nieces,
nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation was Thursday, February 12, 2004 from 12-1 p.m. at First Baptist
Church, O'Fallon, Mo. Funeral services were at First Baptist Church, O'Fallon,
Mo. at 1 p.m. Thursday, February 12, 2004 with Bro. Gary Taylor officiating.
Interment at the Gatewood Gardens Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo. All arrangements
under the direction of Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Mo.
Laura Knight Verheecke
Laura Knight Verheecke of Cuba, Missouri, was born July 29, 1917 at
Ashley, Illinois and departed this life February 4, 2004 at Stubblefield
Care Center, Cuba, Missouri, at the age of 86 years, 6 months and 5 days.
Having no known surviving relatives, a private gravesite service was held
February 4, 2004 at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri with
Rev. Delmar B. Hutson officiating.
Burial in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri under the
direction and care of the Hutson Funeral Home of Steelville, Missouri.
