MO Local Obituaries for the Week of February 17, 2021 James Allen Cook James Allen Cook of Sullivan, Missouri, previously of Steelville, Missouri, was born on Tuesday, April 3, 1990 in Farmington, Missouri to Mark and Tracy Cook and passed away tragically on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at the age of 30 years, 9 months and 28 days. James grew up in Steelville, Missouri where he attended school until his junior year of high school. At the age of 15, he met Kimberlee Nicole Beezley. James moved to Owensville, Missouri in 2007, graduated high school and enlisted with the Marines. James was going to have to go to California, so he and Kim had a small wedding ceremony in Cuba, Missouri at his cousin, Pastor Matt Cook's living room, on December 22, 2008. They later had their large formal wedding at Center Point Baptist Church in Steelville, Missouri on July 11, 2009. James served his country honorably as a Sergeant with the United States Marines for eight years. He was in the 1st MSOB (Marine Special Operation Battalion) for his first four years. He was deployed with the Special Operation Task Force. He deployed to Afghanistan in 2009 and returned in 2010. He deployed on the 15th MEU aboard the Essex and the Anchorage. He was deployed on the Anchorage from May 2015 and returned a few days before Christmas. He served with the 3rd LAAD (Low Altitude Air Defense) during his last four years. During his time in the Marines he had visited Afghanistan, Africa, Japan, Germany and Hawaii. He accepted the Lord as his personal Savior at an early age and was a member of Sullivan Christian Church. He and Kim worked with children, youth and helped with Growth Groups. James was adventurous and was always looking to try new things. He had gone to school to become a dog trainer, attended vet school at Mizzou, had a certificate as a heavy equipment operator, wanted to do standup comedy and recently wanted to become a pilot. James was a supervisor while working at G4S as a Security Guard and was attending Liberty University studying Pre-Law and was set to graduate this coming July. He had been very active with a non-profit organization for veterans called Mission Force. He enjoyed woodworking and made their kitchen table and various things around their house. He was an artist and he painted murals on his daughters' walls. He was always smiling and playing practical jokes on people. He loved to play XBOX Live. He loved the outdoors. He enjoyed doing yardwork, fishing and hunting. He was preceded in death by his grandparents-in-law, William "Bill" Moreland, Joel and Evelyn Beezley; great grandparents, Emma Jane and Raney Lunsford and Lorene and Bill Davis. (Jones) Davis, of Rolla, Missouri was born in Phelps County, Missouri on June 8, 1932 to Claburn Jones and Opal Elizabeth (Ray) Jones and passed away Friday, February 5, 2021, at the age of 88 years. Genevieve was an avid fan of watching soap operas, bird watching, gardening and raising flowers. She was employed at UMR for over 20 years. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles E. Davis, who passed away in 1985; one sister, Nadine Davis; one daughter, Irene Moreland; and two sons, Charles J. Davis and Bradley R. Davis. She is survived by six children, Steve Davis and wife Marcia of Ft. Betty Lou Goodman Betty Lou Goodman of Sullivan, Missouri was born in Pinckneyville, Illinois on July 1, 1936 to Leo and Mabel (Larow) Louis and passed away Saturday, February 6, 2021 at the age of 84 years. She grew up in Illinois and St. Louis. Betty was a longtime employee of Wondermaid in Washington, Missouri, where she worked as a seamstress. She was a wonderful seamstress and also crocheted beautiful lace dollies. She was a sassy, independent woman. She enjoyed gardening, especially flowers and plants. Betty also liked lottery tickets, eating at Cracker Barrell, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was known for her delicious cinnamon rolls that she made for all holidays and birthdays. Betty's beloved dog, Sweetie, was her pride and joy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Mabel Louis; and one sister, Shirley Perryman. Wyatt Thomas Millard Wyatt Thomas Millard was born prematurely and passed away on Friday, February 5, 2021. Although Wyatt never spent time on earth, he was very loved and he touched many lives. At 20 weeks of gestation Wyatt was diagnosed with a rare congenital heart defect known as hypoplastic left heart syndrome. He was a tiny fighter and fought until the end. Wyatt was preceded in death by his great grandmother, Martha Stroud; great grandfather, William "Bill" Millard; great uncle, Charlie Millard; and cousin, Justin Brim. Betty Lou Poskin Betty Lou Poskin of St. James, Missouri was born in Harrisonville, Missouri on February 21, 1933 to Charles and Martha (Braun) George and passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at the age of 87 years. Betty attended the University of Missouri Columbia, where she not only graduated with a Business Accounting degree, but where she also met the love of her life, Donald Poskin. Betty and Don were united in marriage on August 21, 1954, this union was blessed with two children. Betty raised her children in a loving home that included attending church regularly. She was a longtime member of the St. James United Methodist Church and stayed very active in the church activities, including the Home Makers Club and the Choir, until her health no longer permitted. She was an excellent cook and really enjoyed making pies, cakes, and cookies for school and church bake sales. She and Don belonged to the SMART Club (Special Military Active & Retired Travel) where they enjoyed traveling and meeting people from all states. She was a comptroller for Boys Town in St. James for 15 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Martha George; husband, Don Poskin in 2015; sister, Ruth Marie Bien; and brother, John George. Joseph Raymond Stough Joseph Raymond Stough of Chillicothe, Missouri was born on December 29, 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri to Charles L. and Opal Elizabeth (Burroughs) Stough and passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at the age of 88 years. He was a 1950 graduate of Steelville High School, Steelville, Missouri. Joseph served in the United States Army from 1953 until 1955, during the Korean War. He married Joan Rey McDowell on January 15, 1956 in St. Joseph, Missouri. Joseph worked as a farmer. He was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church in Chillicothe, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Opal Stough; and wife, Joan Stough on May 7, 2010. He is survived by one son, Mike Stough of Olathe, Kansas; two daughters, Julie Resor and husband Mike of Chillicothe, Missouri and Janet Kinsella and husband Larry of Grant City, Missouri; six grandchildren, Robert Stough, Kathleen Stough, Joe Resor, Maggie Resor, Dylan Kinsella, and Drake Kinsella; other relatives and friends. William Obern "Billy" Stubblefield William Obern "Billy" Stubblefield of Sullivan, Missouri was born October 5, 1942 to Floyd and Anna Loetta (nee Licklider) Stubblefield and passed away on Monday, February 1, 2021 at the age of 78 years. Billy, as he was known, was raised in the Owensville, Missouri area for most of his early life. He went to Owensville schools from elementary through high school. He was very involved in FFA and graduated with the Owensville Class of 1960. Following high school, he was employed by the Missouri Highway Department. He married Lois Ann Danz, August 3, 1963. Getting tired of the hustle and bustle of working in St. Louis, Missouri each day, Billy and his brothers-in-law, James Martin and James Turner, started MST Masonry in 1973. They did work all over the state of Missouri, including the State Penitentiary in Jefferson City, the Lake of the Ozarks, Sullivan, Washington and St. Louis. Billy decided to retire in 2009. Billy was a Christian and he and his wife Lois were baptized into Christ in the Meramec River, after a church revival on August 1, 1976. Billy was a member of the Sullivan Christian Church for 47 years, where he served as Deacon, Elder and part of the building committee. Billy was always an avid hunter and fisherman, as well as a lifetime 'member of NRA. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Billy especially enjoyed the family trips to the Lake of the Ozarks, twice a year for the past 15 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Anna Loetta Stubblefield; father and mother-in-law, Raymond and Velma Danz; and brothers-in-law, James Martin and Pleys Underdown. He is survived by his wife, Lois, of the family home in Leslie, Missouri; one son, Bryan Stubblefield and wife Cheryl of Sullivan, Missouri; two daughters, Bernita Richardson and husband Brad of Leslie, Missouri and Barbara Voss and husband Kevin of Washington, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Bryanna Beine and husband Bill, Sarah Funkhouser and husband Gerry, Willie Stubblefield, Logine Pohlman, Annie Richardson and fiancˇ Austin Tyree, Baylee, Brooklin, Brendin and Blake Voss; five great grandchildren, Dominick, Colton and Emma Beine, Carson Funkhouser and Ava Tackett; one brother, Ronnie Stubblefield; sisters-in-law, Joy Underdown, Karen Willis and husband Floyd, and Glora Turner and husband James; other relatives and friends. Frances Mae Sutter Frances Mae Sutter was born on July 18, 1932 in Crawford County, Missouri to Omar and Gertrude (nee Howard) Spurgeon and passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at the age of 88 years. On August 23, 1952 she married Charles William Sutter Jr. at the Trinity Chapel in Cuba, Missouri. Frances enjoyed traveling, and visiting flea markets. She will be remembered for her infectious laugh, beautifully tended rose bushes and her smile. She was preceded in death by her parents, Omar and Gertrude Spurgeon; three brothers, Jim Spurgeon, Gene Spurgeon and Don Spurgeon.
