MO Local Obituaries for the Week of February 20, 2019 Vincent Leslie Carpenter Jr. Vincent Leslie Carpenter Jr. was born May 16, 1935 in Bridgport, Ohio to Vincent Leslie Carpenter Sr. and Alma Virginia Stewart Carpenter and passed away Monday, February 4, 2019 at the age of 83 years. He spent his growing up years in Pennsylvania and Ohio due to the war and his father's employment. He graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1953 and was a proud Bulldog. After high school he was employed by the Kroger Company. He decided to join the service and since the Air Force had no Academy at that time was appointed to Aviation Cadets in Harlingen, Texas in July of 1955. He graduated as Navigator/Second Lieutenant in May, 1956. He was assigned to Alaska with Weather Recon flying over the Pole. After several year, he decided to attend school and enroll at the Ohio State University. He missed the Air Force and re-enlisted in 1961. He then trained in several missile systems and finally returned to flying as a Navigator on KC-135 refuelers. He served in Southeast Asia on numerous tours as well as in Spain, England and other places. He was a graduate of Kansas Newman College in Whichita, Kansas. He retired as Major on February 28, 1977. On November 24, 1960 he married Sally L. McCue. After retirement he was employed by Employment Security, Mosers and UMR for 10 years. He was supporter of S&T's Campus Performing Arts, Ozark Actors Theatre and Fine Linen Theater. He also served a a deacon at St. James Christian Church and an elder at Forest City Christian Church. He was Cub Master of Pack 95 for serveral years and a huge Buckeye football fan. His other love were his dogs, Duke and Duchess. At the time of his passing he was a member of the St James United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent Sr. and Alma Carpenter; infant brother, Jeffery; eldest sone, Vincent L. III; and mother-in-law, Virginia McCue. He is survived by his wife, Sally Carpenter of the home; children, Valerie Lynn Gleason and husband Alfred and son, Aaron and Ian of San Antonio, ex-daughter-in-law, Barbara Brown and sons, Vincent. IV and wife Caroline of New Jersey, Jason and wife Stepanie and daughters Gwen and Violet of Lee's Summit, Missouri and Jacob and wife Alexis of Kansas; David Eric Carpenter Esq. and wife Patti and daughter Colleen Virginia of Indianapolis, Indiana; Michael Stewart Carpenter and wife Elizabeth and children, Matthew Snider Carptenter and son Kaden, Jason Snider, Jovanna Snider Carpenter and sons Brecclan and Asher and Steven Snider Carpenter, all of Kansas. Matthew Colin Carpenter and wife Davanh and daughters Kaitlyn and Christine of Marshfield, Missouri; brother, Dr. James V. Burial with full military honors were held at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Waynesville, Missouri on February 8, 2019. Fern "Alline" Finocchiaro Fern "Alline" Finocchiaro (nee Earney) of Steelville, Missouri was born March 26, 1922 in Wesco, Missouri to Treff Olden and Mary Myrtle Edwards Earney and passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at the age of 96 years, 10 months and 10 days. She married Isadore "Sody" Finocchiaro in St. Louis, Missouri in June of 1949. Alline worked alongside her husband, Sody, in their tavern in St. Louis, Missouri and later was employed at the St. Louis City Collector's office as a clerk and retiring from that position. Later in years, she returned back to her home area, Steelville, Missouri in 2008. Alline was a member of St. Ambrose Church in St. Louis, Missouri and later was a faithful member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Steelville, Missouri. She was a member of the Happy Hour Extension Club and a volunteer of the Steelville Food Pantry. Alline always enjoyed cooking for her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Treff and Mary Earney; second mother, Norma Lee Gilmore Earney; husband, Sody Finocchiaro; daughter, Patricia Naum and husband Louis; son-in-law, Danny Gruver; one sister, Vivian Barr and husband Jack; sister-in-law, Edna Earney; and brother-in-law, Dusty Frank. She is survived by her daughter, Rosemary Gruver of Steelville, Missouri; one step-son, Joseph Finocchiaro and wife Patricia of St. Louis, Missouri; three brothers, Robert Earney and wife Olga, Treff Earney and wife Sandy and Lloyd Earney and wife Charlotte, all of Steelville, Missouri; two sisters, Hester Sanders and husband Howard and Esther Lee Frank, all of Steelville, Missouri; 10 grand- children; 18 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Funeral Mass was held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 11, 2019 at the St. Michael Catholic Church in Steelville, Missouri with Father Henry Ussher officiating and Rev. Jerry Beers reading the obituary. Music was provided by Karin West playing and singing "You are Mine," "On Eagle's Wings" and "Jesus Remember Me." Other music of "How Great Thou Art" was sung by Rev. Jerry Beers with Karin West as organist. The Lector for the service was Larry Howdeshell Jr., with Jim and Agnes Cain as Extraordinary ministers and Louis Werner serving at the altar. Carol Ann Fischer Carol Ann Fischer of Owensville, Missouri was born on June 16, 1946 to Laverne and Thelma Mabel (Jett) Duncan in Owensville, Missouri and passed away on Monday, February 11, 2019 at the age of 72 years, 7 months and 23 days. She married Robert Fischer on February 24, 1961 at Pastor Marion Spurgeon's home. Carol enjoyed cooking, camping, playing games and spending time with family and watching movies. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and was strong in her faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, Laverne and Thelma Duncan; sister, Delores Seba; and great granddaughter, Angela Shaul. Jimmie Mullinex Jimmie Mullinex of St. Clair, Missouri was born August 4, 1946 and passed away December 21, 2018 at the age of 72 years, 4 months and 17 days. Henry Maynard Roark Henry Maynard Roark of St. James, Missouri was born on January 19, 1951 to Charles and Mildred (Veach) Roark and passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at the age of 68 years. In September of 1972 Henry went into the Midway Restaurant and met a young woman named Diana. This would turn out to be his lucky day. After dating for just two weeks, they married on September 18, 1972. Henry was a special man who felt his responsibly to his family and people he knew. He was a caretaker who adored his grandchildren and was close to his cousins and friends that he considered family. He worked for many years at Kingsford Charcoal in Belle, Missouri. When he wasn't working you could find in the woods hunting for deer, rabbits or just walking in the beauty of the woods. He enjoyed camping and cooking outdoors for his friends and family. He is survived by his wife, Diana of the home; children, Charles LeRoy Roark and wife Tammy E. of St. James, Missouri and Tammy L. Cleda Lavada Shultz Cleda Lavada Shultz of Rolla, Missouri was born on May 2, 1930 in Yukon, Missouri to Vernon and Gertha (Williams) Medlock and passed away on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at the age of 88 years. Cleda married Lloyd Vernon Shultz on June 15, 1968. Cleda and Lloyd spent 39 years together before his passing on December 7, 2007. Cleda enjoyed her family and cherished the time she spent with them, whether it was baking, making candy or joining in a little competitive fun at card games, dominos or checkers. Cleda was very musically inclined and was a talented vocalist and yodeler. She could play the harmonica and guitar. Cleda was always very particular when going out of the house, a great shopper; she was always classy and dressed to the nines. She enjoyed Cardinal baseball, spending time with her family and her cats and she was the best "cat mom" to Bootsy, Tatter, Squeaky and Prince. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Gertha Medlock; husband, Lloyd Vernon; her step-father, W.E. Forrest Lee Todd Forrest Lee Todd of Vichy, Missouri was born on October 25, 1927 in Webster Groves, Missouri to Fred and Eunice (Moreland) Todd and passed away on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at the age of 91 years. On August 17, 1957 he married Marie (Evans) Ellis. She passed away on April 14, 2002. He later married Deloris Todd who passed away in March 2103. Forrest was a member of the Broadway Baptist Church in Vichy, Missouri and attended Rolla High School and graduated from Vienna High School in 1946. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Vichy, Missouri and served honorably in the United States Army. During his time in the Army he attended training and schools in Fort Lee, Virginia. He also attended the University of Missouri-Columbia, majoring in agriculture from 1947-1948, leaving to support his mother after his father passed away in 1948.He worked as a private contractor, providing landscaping for Fort Leonard Wood and later he went into real estate. He built a business as the broker of Todd Real Estate in St. James, Missouri where he worked with his wife Marie for over 30 years. He enjoyed history and chronicling the legacy of the Todd and Moreland influence and activities in the area. He was an avid reader of Civil War history, citing the local battles and his ancestors involvement for both the north and confederacy. Forrest's passion was farming. He farmed the ancestral family homestead in Vichy for over 73 years until he took residence at the Missouri Veterans Home in St. James, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his wives, Marie and Deloris; daughter, Cheryl Lynn Todd; brother, Fred Todd Jr.; and step daughter, Sharon Ellis. He is survived by his children, Mark Todd and wife Helena and family of Darmstadt, Germany, Michael and Barbara Todd of Vichy, Missouri, Lorna Smith and husband Jimmy of Owensville, Missouri, Elaine Woolsey of St. James, Missouri, Bonnie Matlock and husband Bill of St. James, Missouri and Cecil Ellis of St. James, Missouri; one sister, Shirley Gould of St. Charles, Missouri; one brother, Francis Todd and wife GiGi of Warrenton, Missouri; other relatives and friends. "Tom" Walters of Cuba, Missouri was born on September 28, 1957 in St. Louis, Missouri to Custer R. and Nadine E. (Blanton) Walters and passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at the age of 61 years. Tom was a dedicated employee of LMI Aerospace for the last 18 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing video games and watching movies. He was preceded in death by his parents, Custer and Nadine Walters; two brothers, Daniel and Frederick Walters; and one sister, Sue Weston.
