Thomas Hobson Pennington Sr.
Thomas Hobson Pennington Sr. of Beaufort, Missouri,
formerly of Steelville, Missouri was born to Wiley Hobson Pennington
and Ila Christine Adams Pennington in Norphlet, Arkansas on Tuesday,
April 23, 1929. He passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2007 at
Missouri Baptist Hospital, Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 77
years, 9 months and 19 days.
Thomas married Mary Louise Love on October 22, 1947 in
Piggott, Arkansas and to this union five children were born. He
worked more than 11 years at TWA airlines in St. Louis, Missouri. He
retired as a truck driver from Kellwood Company in New Haven,
Missouri. The family owned and operated Cedar Ridge Canoe Rental in
Steelville, Missouri for several years. He was an avid deer hunter
and fisherman. He also was a member of Center Point Baptist Church
in Steelville, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother,
James Randell “Bub” Pennington; three sisters, Ava Christine
Pennington, Gladys Louise Esinbath and an infant stillborn; two
brothers-in-law, Roland Love and Verlin Barnett.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are his wife,
Louise of the home; children, Diane (Bill) Stepp of McEwen, of
Tennessee, Thomas (Beverly) Pennington Jr. of Washington, Missouri,
Dale (Mary) Pennington of Bismarck, North Dakota, Stephen
(Bernadette) Pennington of Beaufort, Missouri, Douglas (Peggy)
Pennington of Union, Missouri;
Sisters-in-law, Lillian Love of St. Louis, Missouri and
Margaret “Midge” Barnett of Broseley, Missouri; brother-in-law,
Billy Allen (Barbara) Love of Cuba, Missouri; 16 grandchildren; 11
great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation was Wednesday, February 14, 2007 from 6-8
p.m. at the Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral service was Thursday, February 15, 2007 at 11
a.m. at the Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri with Rev.
Delmar Hutson officiating. Burial was in the Liberty Cemetery,
Steelville, Missouri.
All arrangements were under the direction of the Hutson
Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
