Farris L. Craig
Farris L. Craig passed away February 11, 2006 at Salem,
Missouri. He was 80 at the time of his death.
He was the son of Vorris E. Craig and Ludie Sanders
Craig. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri, August 16, 1925. He was
educated in Crawford County Schools and was a graduate of the
Steelville High School Class of 1943.
On September 3, 1948, he married Alice Lou Kettinger.
They became the parents of two daughters, Linda Lou Roaseau and
Brenda Lea Craig. They also raised Farris' two younger brothers,
Gerald (Jerry) Craig and Gary A. Craig, whose parents died at an
early age.
Farris was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years and
his parents.
He is survived by two daughters, Linda Lou Roaseau and
husband Larry of Key Largo, Florida and Brenda Lea Craig of Overland
Park, Kansas; one grandson, Craig M. Meierhoffer of Columbus, Ohio;
two granddaughters, Allison D. Wells of Overland Park, Kansas and
Molly L. Meierhoffer of New Orleans, Louisiana.
He is also survived by two special step grandchildren,
Robyn Arregui of Blue Springs, Missouri, Lindsey Thompson of West
Plains, Missouri; two brothers, Jerry Craig and wife, Meredith and
Gary Craig and wife, Jann of Salem, Missouri; brother-in-law,
Lawrence C. Kettinger, Jr. and wife Helen of St. Louis, Missouri;
six nephews, two nieces and special friend Joan Mosher of Rolla,
Missouri.
Visitation was Friday evening, February 17, 2006 from
5-8 p.m. at the United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Salem,
Missouri. Masonic Service was at 7 p.m.
A Celebration of Life Service was held at the United
Methodist Church, Hwy 32 East in Salem, Missouri on Saturday,
February 18 at 1 p.m. Military honors and interment followed
immediately at the Cedar Grove Cemetery.
All arrangements were under the direction of the Dent
County Memorial Chapel.
James Howard Decker Sr.
James Howard Decker Sr., 62, of Florissant, Missouri
passed away Thursday, February 9, 2006 at his home in Florissant. He
was born September 1, 1943 in Steelville, Missouri, the son of
Charles Emory and Loretta Taff Decker. He was united in marriage to
Wilma Ann Nagle on March 12, 1966 in Steelville, Missouri and she
preceded him in death on June 9, 1994.
He is survived by his three children, Steven Michael
Decker and wife Debra of Springfield, Illinois, Jimmy Decker of
Florissant, Missouri and Kimberly Vanourney and husband Mark of Hawk
Point, Missouri; four grandchildren, Taylor Fay and Jenna Marie
Decker and Hanna Wilma and Luke Andrew Vanourney. He was preceded in
death by his brother Charles E. Decker.
James served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper and
worked at Boeing Aircraft retiring in 2003 after 35 years in the
aircraft industry. He was a member of the aerospace union in St.
Louis, Missouri.
Funeral services for James H. Decker Sr. were conducted
Monday, February 13, 2006 in the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in
Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating.
Serving as casket bearers were Eddy Nagle, Mike Dupske,
John Bowman, Lloyd Cassidy, Pat Sanders, and Danny Bell with
committal prayers and burial in the Steelville Cemetery.
All arrangements were under the direction of the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, Missouri.
Lucille Giles
Frances Lucille Giles nee Enke, of Cuba, Missouri was
born on Sunday, September 14, 1930 in Steelville, Missouri to Chris
Enke and Minnie (Arnold) Enke. She passed away on Thursday, February
16, 2006 at Meramec Nursing Center, Sullivan, Missouri at the age of
75 years, 5 months, and 2 days.
Lucille was a faithful wife, mother, and public servant.
Lucille married Johnny Lee Giles in Steelville, Missouri on January
21, 1949 and proudly supported Johnny during his 24-year term as
Crawford County Sheriff.
To John and Lucille's union, two sons were born: Michael
Lee and Mark Allen.
Lucille was a dedicated member of the First Baptist
Church, Cuba, Missouri where she was active in the WMU (Woman's
Missionary Union). She was also a past leader in GA's (Girls in
Action), served as church librarian and worked in the church
nursery. Her faith was something that she shared not only with her
family, but with her community as well.
Lucille was elected Crawford County Treasurer, serving
from January 1, 1991 until December 31, 2005. She enjoyed her post
there and was reelected several times. She viewed her service to the
community as a very important part of her life. She was thankful and
grateful for the continued support and trust the citizens of
Crawford County placed in her during her term in public office.
Lucille graduated from Steelville High School in 1948.
She worked for Commercial Credit of St. Louis, Wal-Mart of Cuba, and
Life Care Center of Sullivan as a nurse's aide. For a number of
years Lucille also owned Cuba Clothing in downtown Cuba.
Lucille filled her life with the warmth of friends,
family, and various social activities. She was a member of the
Crawford County Republican Women's Club and recently served as the
club's president. She enjoyed playing cards, finishing ceramics,
traveling, and attending cultural events. Lucille had a passion for
bowling and bowled on several teams throughout the years. Most of
all, she was an avid walker. She was often seen walking around town
early in the morning and on her lunch break.
She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Calvin
Enke; parents; husband Johnny Giles; brothers-in-law, Stanley Giles
and Richard Aberer; father-in-law, Roland Giles and mother-in-law,
Perle Giles.
Those who remain to mourn her passing are her sons, Mike
Giles and wife Mary of Springfield, Missouri and Mark Giles and wife
Sylvia of Cocoa, Florida; sister, Kathryn Aberer of Cuba, Missouri;
sisters-in-law, Grace Birdsong and husband Milford of St. Peters,
Missouri and Ellen Giles of Big River, California.
Granddaughters Maggie Graham and husband Jeff of
Springfield, Missouri, Mendie Schoeller and husband Shane of
Willard, Missouri, and Monica Phillips and husband James of Kansas
City, Missouri.
Three great grandchildren, Levi Graham, Lora Graham, and
Emma Schoeller; four step grandchildren; eight step great
grandchildren, two step great great grandchildren; many nieces,
nephews, cousins, friends; and lifetime friends Henry and Audrey
Hayes and family.
Visitation was at the Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba,
Missouri, from 4-8 p.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2006.
Funeral service was at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 19,
2006 at First Baptist Church, Cuba, Missouri with Rev. Bob Knight
officiating.
Burial was at Kinder Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri with
pallbearers: Chris Aberer, Gary Branson, Steven Osborn, David Roy,
Kevin Roy and Rodger Windle.
All arrangements under the direction of Hutson Funeral
Home, Cuba, Missouri.
Clyde Errol Hadley
Clyde E. Hadley, age 82, of Viburnum, Missouri, passed
away Sunday, February 12, 2006 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in
Festus, Missouri. He was born July 5, 1923 in Steelville, Missouri,
the son of Valgene Wilford and Ina Cape Hadley.
Clyde was married to Beverly Kay Turnbough on October,
14, 1978 in Ironton, Missouri.
Clyde is survived by his wife Beverly Kay of the home;
two daughters, Priscilla Ann Mabuce and husband Reid of Cape
Girardeau, Missouri and Marilyn Elaine Ware and husband Bill of
Steelville, Missouri; one stepdaughter, Dawn Girard of Viburnum,
Missouri; one stepson, Christopher L. Girard and wife Felicia of
Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
One brother, Charles Hadley and wife Evelyn of St.
James, Missouri; brother-in-law, Berlie Turnbough and wife Elsie of
Steelville, Missouri; sister-in-law, Betty Anderson and husband Andy
of St. Johnsbury, Vermont.
Five grandchildren, Trevor Mabuce, Travis Ware, Jeffrey
Ware, Amanda Girard, Erin Girard; nieces, nephews, cousins and other
family friends.
He was preceded in death by one infant son Clyde E.
Hadley, Jr.; two brothers, Lloyd, who died during WWII, and a
brother who died as an infant.
Clyde had worked as a churn driller for many years with
St. Joe Lead Mines. He also worked for Politte Ready Mix and most
recently as a security guard with Global Security. He was a member
of Viburnum United Baptist Church.
Funeral services for Clyde Hadley were held Friday,
February 17, 2006 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville,
Missouri with Elder Hugo Walka officiating. Special music was by
Dawn, Felicia and Chris Girard singing "Beautiful," "Thank Him for
the Miracle" and "Better Land."
Serving as casket bearers were Larry Ragsdale, Travis
Ware, Bob Pitt, Richard Sumpter, Wilford Hadley and John Hadley.
Committal prayers and interment in the Steelville Cemetery.
All arrngements were under the direction of the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, Missouri.
Maurine A. Lampton
Maurine A. Lampton of Webster Groves, Missouri was born
March 16, 1915 in Fort Scott, Kansas to the union of James B.
Aydelotte and Gertrude (nee Canatsey) Aydelotte and left this life
on Tuesday, February 14, 2006 in Cuba, Missouri at the age of 90
years, 10 months and 28 days.
Maurine was united in marriage to Preston W. Lampton on
March 23, 1940 and to this union three children were born: Suzanne,
David Preston and Deborah Ann.
Maurine was a member of Webster Groves Presbyterian
Church and attended First Presbyterian Church of Cuba while she was
here with her daughter Deborah.
Maurine was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, aunt,
and friend and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved
her.
Maurine was preceded in death by her parents, James B.
and Gertrude Aydelotte; husband, Preston W. Lampton; and a brother,
Richard Aydelotte.
Those who are left to mourn her passing are her
children, Suzanne and husband Harry Hutchins, David Preston and wife
Cecile Lampton and Deborah Ann and husband Charles Hillyer; four
grandchildren, Sam and Cara Lampton, Maurine (Hillyer) Mitchell and
Miles Hillyer; one great grandchild Shannon Mitchell; one brother
Robert Aydelotte; nieces, nephews, and a host of other family
members.
In accordance to her wishes Maurine gifted her body to
Washington University School of Medicine, so that research could
continue to help others. Arrangements under the direction of Britton
Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri.
Rebul Wood Lee
Rebul Wood Lee nee Parker, age 92, of Oklahoma City,
Oklahoma passed away Monday, February 13, 2006 at Deaconess
Hospital. She was born December 27, 1913 in Berryman, Missouri, the
daughter of Dr. James Harold (Harry) and Alice Wood Parker.
She is survived by two sons, James Harold (Harry) Lee of
Lewisville, Texas and T.P. Lee of Hartford, Wisconsin; one, daughter
Alice Lee of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren and five
great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Karen Ann and
one sister, Edna Parker.
Rebul received a BA in education from Oklahoma City
University and had been a teacher in the public school system in
Oklahoma City before retiring. She was a member of the Disciples of
Christ.
Visitation was Thursday, February 16, 2006 from 10 a.m.
until the time of service at the funeral home.
Funeral service was held Thursday, February 16, 2006 in
the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Rev.
Jerry Beers officiating. Burial in the Steelville Cemetery.
All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton-Bennett
Funeral Home of Steelville, Missouri.
Ruth Marie Patterson
Ruth Marie Patterson of Cuba, Missouri was born December
4, 1926 in Glenallen, Missouri to the union of Jacob Hahs and Mary
(nee Ossig) Hahs and left from this life on Tuesday, February 14,
2006 in Rolla, Missouri at the age of 79 years, 2 months and 10
days.
Ruth was united in marriage to Gerald Leroy Patterson on
March 11, 1946 and to this union four children were born: John,
Robert, Theresa and Cynthia.
Ruth had worked as a cook for many years. She was a
member of Calvary Assembly of God Church, where she was a Sunday
School teacher and enjoyed sharing the word of the Lord with the
children. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed shopping, traveling
and spending time with her family.
Ruth was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law,
grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister,
sister-in-law, aunt and friend and she will be deeply missed by all
who knew and loved her.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Mary
Hahs; husband, Gerald Leroy Patterson; one sister, Helen Brown; and
other family members.
Those who are left to mourn her passing are her two
sons, John and wife Lee Patterson and Robert and wife Vickie
Patterson; two daughters, Theresa and husband Bruce Fullerton and
Cynthia and husband Art Miller; 11 grandchildren; 14 great
grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; brother, Guy and
wife Jane Hahs; nieces, nephews, and a host of other family members.
Visitation was held on Thursday, February 16, 2006 from
5-8 p.m. at Britton Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri. Funeral service
was held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 17, 2006 at Britton Funeral
Home, Cuba, Missouri with Rev. Allen Teal officiating.
Serving as pallbearers were Pat Patterson, Tommy Miller,
Johnny Patterson, Art Miller, Zach Mooney and Mark Spurgeon. Burial
followed in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis,
Missouri.
Frieda Christina Payne
Frieda Christina Payne of Cuba, Missouri was born
Thursday, November 21, 1907 at Villa Ridge, Missouri to the union of
George Runge and Mary (nee Trentman) Runge and left from this life
on Tuesday, February 14, 2006 at Cuba, Missouri, at the age of 98
years, 2 months and 21 days.
Frieda was united in marriage to Melton Todd in 1926 and
to this union three children were born: Earl, David and Mary Jane.
Frieda had worked as a seamstress/presser for a garment
factory. She liked to piece and quilt quilts, read her Bible every
day and truly liked to do things for her family.
Frieda was a loving daughter, wife, mother,
mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, great great
grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend and she will be
deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Frieda is preceded in death by her parents, George and
Mary Runge; husbands, Melton Todd, Henry Kidwell and Wilbur Payne;
one daughter, Mary Jane Carter; son-in-law, Carl Carter; two
brothers, William and Louis Runge; one sister, Mamie Runge; and a
host of other family members.
Those who are left to mourn her passing are her two
sons, Earl and wife Mary Todd and David Todd; one sister, Elda
Bartel; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 13 great great
grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Wednesday, February 15, 2006 from
5-8 p.m. at Britton Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri. Funeral service
was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 16, 2006 at Britton Funeral
Home, Cuba, Missouri. Burial followed in Bethel Cemetery, Labidie,
Missouri.
