Cecil Ray Brown
Cecil Ray Brown of Cuba, Missouri was born on March 10, 1928 to the union
of George Brown and Della (Gott) Brown and passed away on February 16, 2004
at the Missouri Baptist Hospital, Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 75
years, 6 months.
On March 19, 1950, Cecil was united in marriage to Helen Lorrene Dickens
at Cuba, Missouri. One son Dennis and four daughters, Debbie, Gale, Teresa
and Della Fern were born to this union. They have been happily married for
53 years.
Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Della Fern, two
brothers Clyde and David Brown, one sister Dorothy, one grandson Mathew,
one son-in-law Bob Chew and three brothers-in-law Newman Littrell, Bill
McPherson and Gene Smart.
Cecil was a long time resident of Crawford County. He was an active member
of the Cuba Freewill Baptist Church. Those left to rejoice his life are
his loving wife Helen L. Brown; one son Dennis Brown and wife Melissa,
three daughters, Debbie Willoughby and husband Walt, Gale Staples and
husband Jeff and Teresa Chew; one brother Everett Brown and wife Pauline;
four sisters, Grace Littrell, Velva McPherson, Mamie McCann and husband
Phil and Gladys Smart; sister-in-law Zelma Brown; 10 grandchildren; eight
great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Cecil Ray Brown was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri
where funeral services were held on Thursday, February 19, 2004 at 2 p.m.
with Leroy Bryant and Mike Schultz officiating. Interment was in the Kinder
Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri. Pallbearers were Chuck Smart, Ronnie Littrell, Danny
Hewkin, Trevor Brown, Danny Kelley and Chris Staples. All arrangements were
under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.
James Ray Brown
Entered into rest Friday, February 6, 2004, at his residence, Mr. James
"Jim" Ray Brown, husband of Mrs. Evelyn Brown of Radford Gay Road, Harlem,
Georgia.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 10, 2004, at the
Bethesda Baptist Church with Dr. Dean Watson officiating. Interment in the
Westview Cemetery, Augusta.
Mr. Brown was born in Dalton, Arkansas. He was a member of the Bethesda
Baptist Church and the Men's Adult Sunday Class. He served with the Home
Bound Ministry and the Columbia County Cares, also was a member of the
Very Special People at the Harlem United Methodist Church. He was a
retired machinist and an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Gay Brown, Harlem; two sons, James Lynn
Brown, Sullivan, Mo., Gerald Brown, Harlem; one daughter, Judy and Paul
Hefti of Troy, Mo.; sister, Mary and Terry Farewell of Ravenden Springs,
Arkansas; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Wayne Ferguson, Jim Pritchard, Jim Walker, Clifford
Thayer, Larry Enroughty and Bill Nixon. Honorary pallbearers were members
of the Adult Men's Sunday School Class.
Visitation was held Monday, February 9, 2004, from 7 to 9 p.m., at
Starling Funeral Home, Hwy. 78, Harlem, Georgia.
Hector Frank Casarotto
Hector Frank Casarotto of Cuba, Missouri was born on July 6, 1910 in
Clinton, Indiana to the union of Frank H. Casarotto and Virginia (Del
Pozzolo) Casarotto and passed away on February 15, 2004 at St. James,
Missouri at the age of 93 years, 7 months and 9 days.
On April 27, 1946 Hector was united in marriage to Wilda M. Licklider at
Rosati, Missouri. Three sons, Eugene, Jerry and Larry and one daughter,
Marilyn were born to this union. They were happily married until Wilda
preceded Hector in death on July 5, 1999.
On February 4, 1942 Hector was inducted into the Army of the United States
of America. He served honorably in the Asiatic Pacific Theater as an Army
Medical Technician. He received the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon, Good Conduct
Ribbon and Overseas Service Bar. Hector was discharged on August 29, 1945.
Hector was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Joan Casarotto
and Arge Douglas and one brother, John Casarotto Sr.
He was a member of Holy Cross Church of Cuba, Missouri.
Those who survive to mourn his passing from this life are his loving
children, Eugene Casarotto and wife Wanda, Jerry Casarotto, Larry
Casarotto and wife Sue and Marilyn Chasen and husband Charles; four
grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; nephews, nieces; other relatives
and many friends.
Hector was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great
grandfather, brother, uncle, good friends to all who knew him and will be
sadly missed.
Hector Frank Casarotto was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba,
Missouri. Funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, February 17, 2004 at 11 a.m.
at Holy Cross Church of Cuba, Missouri with Father James Finder
officiating. Interment was in the St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery of Rosati,
Missouri. All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home
of Cuba, Missouri.
Mary Carole Smith
Mary Carole Smith of Washington, Missouri was born on February 19, 1952 in
St. Louis, Missouri to Thomas C. Smith and Hattie Irene Miller Smith. She
passed away Saturday, February 14, 2004 at St. John's Mercy Hospital,
Washington, Missouri at the age of 51 years, 11 months and 26 days.
Mary enjoyed school and furthering her education. She was employed for
several years as a Social Worker for the State of Missouri. Mary was a
member of the Harmony Club House in Washington, Missouri and she was
grateful for their love and support. She also liked to travel and spend
time with her cat Roxie.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Timothy Thomas
Smith.
Those who remain to mourn her passing are her sister Susan I. Shelton of
Bourbon, Mo.; nephew Thomas Shelton and niece Jamie Shelton, all of
Bourbon, Mo.; aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2004 at Harmony
Club House, Washington, Mo. Burial at Bernie Cemetery, Bourbon, Mo.
All arrangements under the direction of Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Mo.
