Donald Leo Grus
Donald Leo Grus of St. Clair, Missouri was born in St. Clair on
September 30, 1933, to William Fredrick and Cecelia Emma Grus
(nee Siess) and passed away on February 14, 2014 at the age of
80 years, 4 months and 15 days.
On October 18, 1952 he married Bernice Marion Schmucke and eight
children came to bless this union.
Donald was a life long member of St. Clare Catholic Church in
St. Clair, Missouri. He was also a member a 4th Degree member of
the Knights of Columbus, Bishop Leo Steck Council 4667 of St. Clair,
Missouri. Donald worked the family farm until he retired at age 62.
It was primarily a dairy farm but in later years he also raised beef
cattle and planted crops and hay. He always had a large garden and
loved sharing the produce with his family.
He was also employed as a sheet metal worker by Zero Manufacturing
in Washington, Missouri for about five years.
Donald enjoyed playing cards, listening to polka music and was an
avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. It was a well-known fact that
he made some of the best wine around.He was preceded in death by his
parents, William and Cecelia Grus; one son, Kenneth Grus; two brothers,
William Joseph Grus and Glennon Joseph Grus; one grandchild, Elizabeth
Marie Kimberlin; and two sons-in-law, Donald Reed and Darrell Nutter.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice Grus of St. Clair, Missouri; seven
children, Catherine Nutter Dietrich and husband Jacob of Kokomo,
Indiana, Diana Gavola and husband Larry of Redondo Beach, California,
Keith Grus of Washington, Missouri, Joyce Kimberlin and husband Greg
of Bourbon, Missouri, Linda Reed and fiancé Dan Siedhoff of New Haven,
Missouri, Kevin Grus and wife Stacy of Union, Missouri and Robert
Grus and wife Dena of St. Clair, Missouri; three sisters, Mary Alice
Brueggemann and husband Adolph of St. Clair, Missouri, Jane Gerner
and husband Virgil of Washington, Missouri and Donna Claire Brinker
and husband Edward of Washington, Missouri; aunt, Nellie Siess of
St. Clair, Missouri; 18 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren;
other relatives and many friends.
Funeral mass was held at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 17, 2014 at
St. Clare Catholic Church in St. Clair, Missouri with Father Bob
Knight officiating.
Interment was in St. Clare Catholic Cemetery in St. Clair, Missouri.

Matred Edna Kehner
Matred Edna Kehner, nee Lea, of Steelville, Missouri was born
November 25, 1919 in Steelville, Missouri to Ross and Opal Clonts
Lea and passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at the age of 94 years,
2 months and 23 days.
On June 2, 1938, she was united in marriage to Leslie “Sprout” Kehner.
Being the eldest of her siblings, she helped her mother take care of
her sister and brothers.
In later years, Matred worked alongside her husband, “Sprout” at the
Kehner Feed Store. She always loved to dance and would be encouraged
when her Grandpa Clonts would play his fiddle. She also enjoyed
bowling in the women’s league, making quilts and being outside doing
yard work.
Since 1952, she kept a pet terrapin, “Bud”, in her basement, feeding
him and watching him as he would hibernate under a rug. Still to this
day he is living in her home where she had cared for him all of these
62 years.
She was a member of the Steelville Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Ross and Opal Lea; husband,
“Spout” Kehner in 1967; brother, Bud Lea and wife Dottie; two
brothers-in-law, Dr. Charles Counts and Richard Mager; and special
nephew, Bob Shearrer.
She is survived by her sister, Shirley Mager of Steelville, Missouri;
three brothers, Hack Lea and wife Verniece, Pete Lea and wife Bonnie
and Bill Lea and wife Dormalie, all of Steelville, Missouri; special
nephew, Larry Shearrer and wife Pat of Steelville, Missouri; other
relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 21, 2014 at
the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating.
Special music of “Amazing Grace” and “The Old Rugged Cross” was sung
by Sheila Floyd and accompanied by Deloris Bell on piano. Memories
were shared by niece, Sheila Floyd.
Committal prayer and interment were in the Steelville Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Billy Lea, John Lea, Joe Lea, Jimmy Harmon,
Rusty Lea and Treff Earney.

Karl N. Kendall
Karl N. Kendall was born in Chrisman, Illinois on October 31, 1916
and passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at the age of 97 years.
Karl had a passion for work and was a pioneer in the Aerospace
Industry, plus Karl and Jerri were well known for their restaurants:
K&J Cafe, Charcoal Corral, Jerry’s Plush Steer and the Hickory House
in southern Missouri.
Karl led an adventurous life from in the CC Camps during the 30’s to
working on the Alcan Highway in Alaska/Canada in the 40’s. After
WWII he purchased Liberty Ships in Everett, Washington and salvaged
these after they were decommissioned.
While still active, Karl was an avid gardener, enjoyed his travels
and looked forward to his cigar and brandy.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi Geraldine (Jerri) Hopkins;
a son, David L. Kendell; two brothers, Junior and William Kendall.
He is survived by two children, Karla Kendall Smith and husband Roger
and Donald G. Kendall and wife Sherry of Rolla, Missouri; nine
grandchildren, Katie Hoefer of Camdenton, Missouri, Joshua Vivone
and wife Jessica of Auburn, Alabama, Sarah Smith Monzyk and husband
Jon of Washington, Missouri, Bridgett Snyder and husband Rick of Port
Aransas, Texas, Elizabeth Winkelmann and husband Kent of Steelville,
Missouri, Karl Kendall II and wife Sarah of Columbia, Missouri,
William Kendall, Tiffany Kendall and Alexander Kendall, all from
Columbia, Missouri; five great grandchildren, Cole Herron, Ava
Marie Monzyk, Scout Monzyk, Arielle Winkelmann and Kenton Winkelmann;
other relatives and friends.
Graveside services were held Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 11 a.m. in
Willow Springs, Missouri.

Mary Alice Littrell
Mary Alice Littrell of Sullivan, Missouri was born in Yakima,
Washington on August 21, 1932 to Herbert Francis and Katie Doane
(nee Nichol) and passed away on February 14, 2014 at the age of
81 years, 5 months and 24 days.
On May 5, 1951, she was united in marriage to George Charles
Littrell and four children came to bless this union.
Mary was a Christian and member of the First Missionary Baptist
Church in Bourbon, Missouri. She had made caring for her home and
family her career in life and she never tired of her job. Mary’s
favorite pastime was searching for antiques and for many years she
owned and operated Mary’s Antique Shop in Sullivan, Missouri. After
her children were grown, she continued to care for her family by
taking care of her grandchildren. She enjoyed raising beautiful
flowers and working in her yard.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Katie Doane;
three brothers, Hugh Doane, Herbert “Nelson” Doane and James Doane;
and two sisters, Theda Miller and Lela Hansen.
She is survived by her husband, George Littrell of Sullivan,
Missouri; two sons, Charles Littrell and wife Kathy of Caledonia,
Wisconsin and Terry Littrell of Bourbon, Missouri; two daughters,
Sheila Sego and husband Donald of Sullivan, Missouri and Jennifer
Fore and husband James of Sullivan, Missouri; six grandchildren;
seven great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; other
relatives and many friends.
Memorial services were held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2014
at the First Missionary Baptist Church in Bourbon, Missouri with
Pastor Ted Hurley officiating.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 21, 2014
at the Bourbon Cemetery in Bourbon, Missouri.

Lucy Evelyn Moss
Lucy Evelyn Moss of Devon, Kansas, formerly of Steelville, Missouri,
was born June 6, 1929 in Keysville, Missouri to Charles Logan and
Augusta Catherine (Parrett) Cassidy and passed away Thursday,
February 13, 2014 at Mercy Hospital, Fort Scott, Kansas at the age
of 84 years.
She married Harley Lloyd Moss February 14, 1953 at the Federal
Courthouse in St. Louis, Missouri.
Evelyn graduated from Steelville High School in 1948. After her
marriage to Harley, she became a life-long homemaker. Evelyn and
Harley would have celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary Friday,
February 14, 2014.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Augusta Cassidy;
and a brother, Charles Cassidy.
She is survived by her husband, Harley; four children, Carol Reasoner
and husband Ron of Redfield, Kansas, Lonnie Moss and wife Kathy of
Oronogo, Missouri, Jerry Moss and wife Else of Devon, Kansas and
Larry Moss of Miami, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, Stephanie White
and husband Tim of Lubbock, Texas, Daniel Moss and wife Christina of
Carthage, Missouri, Jennifer Garlick of Florissant, Missouri, Jerry
Moody of Pittsburg, Kansas, Christine Moss of Lexington, Kentucky,
Heather Moss of Miami, Oklahoma and Isaiah and Isabelle Moss, both
of Devon, Kansas; five great grandchildren, Titus, Quintin, and Truman
White, Ethan Moss, Ashley Garlick, Isaiah and Isabell Moss and Heather
Moss; a sister, Reba Marceline Brumley of Steelville, Missouri; other
relatives and friends.
Visitation from 1 p.m. until time of funeral service at 2 p.m. with
Rev. Greg Stine officiating Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at the Bethel
Community Church in Fort Scott, Kansas.
Burial followed at the Pleasanton Cemetery.

Osco “O.L” Lewis Munton
Osco “O.L.” Lewis Munton of Cuba, Missouri, formerly of Steelville,
Missouri, was born February 10, 1932 in Steelville, Missouri to
Raymond Leroy and Josephine Halbert Munton and passed away Saturday,
February 22, 2013 at his home at the age of 82 years and 12 days.
O.L. was married to Wilma Helen Day in July of 1958 and she preceded
him in death on May 4, 1987. O.L. then married Loretta Brakefield
on April 9, 1988 in Potosi, Missouri.
O.L. served honorably in the U.S. Army from June 1951 until
December 1953 and was in Germany for 27 of those months. He was a
member of the American Legion Post 601 of Davisville, Missouri and
also a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
He worked for Wagner Electric until his disability in 1972. O.L.
started making hunting and fillet knives in December of 1990 and
continued that hobby on his good days until September 2006.
He always enjoyed watching and listening to Cardinal baseball and
high school basketball. He also enjoyed pulling his wagon with his
mules.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Josephine
Munton; his wife, Wilma; and three brothers, Harold Munton and wife
Helen, Leonard Munton and Raymond Munton.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta of the home in Cuba, Missouri;
one son, Leonard Munton of St. James, Missouri; one step-son, Michael
Vinson and wife Sue of Olympia Village, Missouri; one step-daughter,
Sharon Trask and husband Bill of Potosi, Missouri; eight grandchildren,
Sean Munton and fianceé Melanie, Nicole Ray and husband Nick, Megan
Munton, Michelle Paul and husband Mark, George Vinson, James Vinson,
Nicole Johnston and Kristina Phares and husband Eric; seven great
grandchildren; one brother, Melvin Munton of Illinois; one sister,
Wilma Bravard of St. Louis, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, February 24, 2014 at the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral service was held at noon on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at
the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Rev.
Jerry Beers officiating. Special music of “Peace in the Valley” and
“Go Rest High” was sung and played by Rev. Jerry Beers.
Committal prayer and burial were in the Steelville Cemetery with
full military honors from the U.S. Army and the St. James VFW.

Edwin Hugo Prigge
Edwin Hugo Prigge of Vichy, Missouri was born August 23, 1922, in
Winona, Minnesota to Dora and Edward Prigge and passed away on
February 22, 2014 at the age of 91 years and 6 months.
Eddie grew up in Minnesota. He went to work at an early age and
joined the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), a public work relief
program that was part of Roosevelt’s New Deal. He was then employed
with the Federal Aviation Administration, which brought him to
Vichy during the construction of the Navy aviation training base,
now the Rolla National Airport.
He married Helen Verle Warner on September 18, 1948, at the First
Baptist Church in Rolla, Missouri and to this union, five children
were born. Eddie and Verle enjoyed 64 years of marriage, until Verle
passed away on October 5, 2012.
Eddie continued to work for the FAA, and he and Verle lived in many
states. Around 1962, Eddie and Verle purchased the C.O. Fannon Store
in Vichy, Missouri and called it Prigges’ Market. Eddie worked as an
electrician at the University of Missouri-Rolla, now Missouri S&T and
later as a maintenance electrician at Fort Leonard Wood.
Upon retirement, he joined Verle in the store, until they sold it in
1990. For 30 years, Eddie and Verle enjoyed spending the winters in
Bonita Beach, Florida. Eddie enjoyed gardening and working in the
garage and shared Verle’s enjoyment of yard sales and thrift stores.
In addition to his wife Verle, He was preceded in death by his
parents, Dora and Edward Prigge; his wife, Verle; one son, Robert
Warner Prigge; one sister; Ruth Schmidt, and one brother, Allen
“Bud” Prigge.
He is survived by four children, Ruth Anne Moreland and husband
Marty of Vichy, Missouri, Betty Sue Litton of Vichy, Missouri,
Genevieve Maples of Belle, Missouri and Mike Prigge and wife Bonnie
of Vichy, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Lisa Cannon, Scott Moreland,
Donnie Chambers, Mark Chambers, Andrew Maples, Claire Maples,
Jesse Maples, Logan Prigge and Lauren Prigge; six great grandchildren,
Joshua Ledbetter, Austyn, Allison and Zachary Moreland and Dimesha
and Elizabeth Chambers; other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Jones
Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri.
Memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 2, 2014
at Jones Funeral Home in St. James with Rev. Sandra Dixon officiating.

Linda Shore
Linda Shore of Cuba, Missouri was born October 11, 1959 at Rolla,
Missouri to Earl W. and Betty Louise (nee Forester) Warnhoff, Sr.
and passed away Friday, February 14, 2014 at Sullivan, Missouri at
the age of 54 years.
Linda was united in marriage to Andrew Shore on September 28, 1985 at
the Bem United Church of Christ in Bem, Missouri and to this union
two children were born.
Linda was a beautician for 30+ plus years and during the early
1990’s worked as an accountant for Wallis Oil. Linda enjoyed
crocheting and she made several baby blankets for her grandson
Hunter. She enjoyed drinking coffee, coke and cherry slushes.Linda
loved the sunshine and being outside. She would spend hours sitting
outside, listening to music and crocheting.
Linda loved to take her grandson Hunter to town and show him off.
She would take him to Hayes Shoe store and buy him new shoes. Linda
also loved her dog Leah and she treated her just like family.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Betty
Warnhoff, Sr.; one brother, Earl Warnhoff, Jr.; father-in-law,
Charles Shore; and sister-in-law, Jana Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Andrew Shore of the home; son,
Andrew “Bud” Shore, Jr. of Cuba, Missouri; daughter, Carah and
husband Jonathan Hicks of Walnut Grove, Missouri; “like a daughter,”
Shelby Schaning of Rolla, Missouri; grandson, Hunter Wes Hicks of
Walnut Groves, Missouri; sister, Debra and husband John Brown of
Cuba, Missouri; brother, Michael Warnhoff of Cuba, Missouri;
mother-in-law, Laura Shore of Owensville, Missouri; sisters-in-law,
Julie and husband Gary Baker of Zeeland, Michigan and Martha and
husband Mike Record of Owensville, Missouri; other relatives and
friends.
Visitation was held Wednesday, February 19, 2014 from 4-7 p.m. at
the Mizell Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral service was held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2014
at the Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.
In keeping with Linda’s wishes she was cremated following the
funeral service.

Jerry Sutton
Jerry “Beef Steak” Sutton was born September 30, 1935 in Shannon
County to Henry and Dosie (Helvy) Sutton and passed away on
February 8, 2014 in Salem, Missouri at the age of 78 years.
He married Rosetta Norris February 11, 1956. They were the parents
of four children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Dosie Sutton;
and 11 brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Rosetta Sutton of Salem, Missouri;
children, Donna Curley, Patsy Mendenhall and Carl, Jarold Sutton
and David Sutton, all of Salem, Missouri; sister, Catherine Baker
of Cuba, Missouri; sister-in-law, Norma Sutton of Farmington,
Missouri; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren;
other relatives and friends.
Funeral service was February 12, 2014 at Dent County Memorial
Chapel in Salem, Missouri with Jerry Piatt officiating.
Interment was in the North Lawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Larry Norris, Jerry Norris, John Sweigard, Jeff
Walburg, Austin Duncan and Dustin Miller. Honorary pallbearers
were Jeff Norris, Justin Norris and Don Parker.

in Salem, Missouri.
Bennie Leroy Tipton
Bennie Leroy Tipton was born on September 4, 1929 to Ben and Mamie
Spurgeon Tipton and passed away February 15, 2014 at the age of 84
years.
Leroy was born and raised in Vichy, Missouri.
Leroy started his education at the Shinkle School House in Vichy,
Missouri and graduated from St. James High School in 1946.
During his high school years, he worked at Kroger’s grocery store
in St. James. After he graduated, he continued his employment with
the grocery store until the business closed and then went to work
for International Shoe Factory in St. James. He worked at night as a
janitor at the Rolla School of Mines while he went to school during
the day. He eventually worked his way into the Mechanical Engineering
Department as the instructor. Leroy worked for the university from
September 3, 1963 until he retired January 16, 1992.
Leroy loved his farm and enjoyed raising cattle and hay season.
At the age of 84 he was still working the farm, fighting fires with
the Vichy Volunteer Fire Department and rarely missed a social
activity. He was a member of the Broadway Baptist Church and was
ordained as a deacon on March 18, 2012.
Leroy loved horses and trail rides. In his early years, he was a
regular at the Eminence Trail Ride and hosted many trail rides from
his home and started a Tractor Cruise as fundraisers for the Vichy
Volunteer Fire Department who was his second family. He went on his
last fire call February 3, 2014 with Ken Ramsey.
Leroy had two friends other than his human friends, his horse Ranger
and his loyal dog Jack. Jack accompanied Leroy on many outing and
was known by many as the Mayor of Vichy.
Leroy married Wilma Ann Welch on December 4, 1949 and three children
were born.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Mamie Tipton;
brothers and sisters; and daughter, Cheryl.
He is survived by his lifelong mate, Wilma of the home; children,
Dennis Tipton and his wife Joyce of Vichy, Missouri and David Tipton
and his wife Shevawn of Vichy, Missouri; grandchildren, Tonya and her
husband Rick Price of Belle, Missouri, Thad Tipton and wife Jessica
of Belle, Missouri, Heather and her husband Andrew Wunderlich of
Olathe, Kansas, Ben Tipton and his wife Cathy of Rolla, Missouri and
Nicholas Schott; great grandchildren, Derek, Mason, Dalton and Skyler
Price, Brayden, Camryn, Ella and Cash Tipton, Avery Wunderlich, Abby
and Anna Tipton; son-in-law, Dan Daniels; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was Tuesday, February 18, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. at the
James & Gahr Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary, St. James, Missouri.
Funeral services was Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at the St. James
Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary with Pastor Scott John
officiating. Music will be provided by David Grubbs and Richard Gehlert.
Interment was at the High Gate Baptist Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mason Price, Dalton Price, Skyler Price, Thad
Tipton, Ben Tipton and Nick Schott. Leroy’s sons, Dennis and David
Tipton served as honorary pallbearers.
Arrangements under the direction of the James & Gahr Mortuary,
St. James, Missouri.
Henry Lewis Volluz
Henry Lewis Volluz of St. James, Missouri was born December 30, 1956
in St. James, Missouri to Phillip M. and Ruth M. (Hall) Volluz and
passed away February 4, 2014 at his home at the age of 57 years.
A graduate of St. James High School, Henry worked as a carpenter in
the building trade, it was a profession that he enjoyed so he stayed
with that throughout his life.
Henry was united in marriage to Cynthia Gale in April of 2013. They
each had a strong faith in the Lord and were members of the Landmark
Baptist Church where they were baptized last year.
Henry loved the outdoors, gardening, fishing, football, baseball, and
just getting together with family and friends. He was a big Cardinal
baseball fan and watched whenever he could.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip and Ruth Volluz.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia of the home; step-daughter,
Leslie Edenfield of St. James, Missouri; sister, Sandra Volluz of
St. Louis, Missouri; step-grandchildren, Jordan Standley and Cameron
Edenfield; niece, Jennifer; nephew, Justin; other relatives and
friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 2 p.m.
at the Landmark Baptist Church in Rolla, Missouri.
