MO Local Obituaries for the Week of March 1, 2017 Patricia Mae Coffman Patricia Mae Coffman (nee Yount) of Steelville, Missouri was born on Sunday, December 27, 1953 in St. Louis, Missouri to Marvin Leon and Janie Maebelle (Welker) Yount and passed away Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the age of 63 years, 1 month and 29 days. She married Bobby Gene Coffman on February 8, 1978 in Hillsboro, Missouri and to this union three daughters were born and one stepdaughter gained. Patricia accepted the Lord at age 13 and attended a Pentecostal Church. She was a past board member of Antioch Community Center. She drove the church bus for Assembly of God Church in Viburnum, Missouri. She loved to crochete, read, swim, walk outdoors and generally loved spending time outdoors. When her children were in school, she received Room Mother awards. She sang and played guitar in a band. She had a big heart and touched many, many lives with her love and acceptance. She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin Leon Yount; and her husband, Bobby Gene Coffman. David Wayne Douglas David Wayne Douglas was born July 16, 1950 in Peoria, Illinois to Aaron LeRoy and Betty Prince Douglas and passed away suddenly Friday February 10, 2017 at the age of 66 years. He was united in marriage to Sandra Lee May in St. Louis, Missouri. He worked in construction most of his life until injuries prevented him to work. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra on June 4, 2009. Norman Erich Mueller Norman Erich Mueller of Cuba, Missouri was born Tuesday, May 3, 1932 at Hoxie, Kansas to Erich and Sophie (nee Gaede) Mueller and passed away Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the age of 84 years. Norman graduated from the Perryville High School and he proudly served in the United States Army from January 16, 1951 until January 15, 1954. Norman owned and operated Mueller Construction from 1974 until 1983. He then went to work for Westward Construction Company in Sullivan, Missouri and he retired from Yamnitz Pre-Mix in Owensville, Missouri in 1997. Norman never really retired he just kept doing woodworking and carpentry work for his family and friends. Norman was a devout member to the St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Cuba, Missouri. He had served as an elder for the church. Norman could be found, on most Sundays, ushering before and after church. He also served as church trustee for several years. Norman enjoyed all sports especially football and baseball. He liked a good political debate and up until a couple of years ago he had a truly dry sense of humor. He spent hours mowing grass and he thought that he was a great at barbequing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Erich and Sophie Mueller; stillborn son, Norman Eugene Mueller; step son, Lex Allen; sister, Elly Miesner; and one brother, Marvin Mueller. Eric Lee Mitchell Sr. Eric Lee Mitchell Sr. of Washington, Missouri, formerly of Rolla, Missouri, was born in Rolla, Missouri on September 26, 1970 to Gary L. and Linda J. (Bell) Mitchell and passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at the age of 46 years. Eric worked as a journeyman union ironworker in the construction field. He also was an outdoorsman and enjoyed playing golf, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Revival Tabernacle since 1980. He loved visiting with all his family and friend. Robert Spooner Robert Spooner, formerly of St. James, Missouri, was born on November 25, 1922 in Paducah, Kentucky to Bernie E. Spooner and Ruby Drummond-Spooner and passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at the age of 94 years. He proudly served his country as a tail-gunner on a B24 in the European theater of operations in the United States Army Air Corps. He married Betty and they shared 71 wonderful years together. He spent most of his working career as a self-employed mechanic, working on many airplanes and helicopters. He was an honorary lifetime member in the Bell 47 Helicopter Association. He had a true passion for aviation. Robert will be remembered as a fun and family-oriented man. He adored the time spent with his children on their frequent Sunday drives together. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernie and Ruby Spooner; and two brothers, James A. Spooner and Wilbur E. Spooner. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Spooner (nee Raines); children, Anita (Mel) Henderson, Margaret (Russ) Fink, Linda (John) Ayers and Sallie (Steve) Feldewert; 11 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. Eileen Fern Vaughn Eileen Fern Vaughn, better known as "Ike" was born on Tuesday, December 30, 1924 at Leasburg, Missouri to John Franklin and Mamie (nee Campbell) Phillips and passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 92 years. "Ike" lived and worked most all of her life in Leasburg, Missouri. Early in life she worked in the souvenir and ticket shop at Onondaga Cave and then she went to work for the Leasburg Telephone Exchange. She left the telephone exchange to become the owner and operator of the Leasburg Station. She worked there seven days a week for nearly 25 years. Most recently Ike was the owner and operator of the Chat' N Chew Restaurant in Leasburg, Missouri. On Tuesday evenings you could find the Chat' N Chew full of musicians having a jam session. She was a member of the American Legion Post of Leasburg, 60-year member of the American Legion Post Auxiliary, served on the Board of Directors for the Village Apartments of Leasburg and she served on many various committees for the Leasburg community. Eileen made a public profession of faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in 1970 at the Cross Roads Baptist Church of Leasburg, Missouri. She was baptized in the Meramec River near the old Hog Trough Bridge and had been a member of the Cross Roads Baptist Church for many years. She was a person of quick wit, which made a visit with her an enjoyable and often one of laughter. In her spare time Ike enjoyed crocheting afghans. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mamie Phillips; three brothers, Johnnie Phillips, Estel Phillips and Forrest Phillips; three sisters, Golden Kline, Barbara Boren and Imo Ransom; infant grandson; and dear friend, Cammie Garrison. Harry Francis Whalen Harry Francis Whalen was born August 4, 1920 in Steelville, Missouri to Guy Francis and Addie Mae Halbert Whalen and passed away Monday, February 20, 2017 at the age of 96 years. In 1963, he married Hilda Pauline Glynn. Harry was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy Aviation from October 7, 1942 to December 1, 1945. He was an aviation machinest mate 2nd class. He trained at Lambert Field Air Station in St. Louis, Missouri, Seattle and Whidbey Island, Washington. He saw duty in Admiralty Islands and the Philippine Islands in the South Pacific. He worked for Marathon Company out of Neena Menasha, Wisconsin for 28 years as an account executive. The company had several mergers, first to Dixie Marathon, James River CO. and then to American Can CO. He was transferred many times, first to Atlanta, Georgia, Chicago, Illinois, Kansas City, Missouri, Louisville, Kentucky, Denver, Colorado and back to Kansas City, Missouri before retiring to Bella Vista, Arkansas. He was a member of the Bella Vista Baptist Church and a strong believer in God. He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Addie Whalen; two sisters, Henrietta Irene Whalen and Erma Gladeen Whalen; and brother, Guy Patrick Whalen. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Hilda Whalen of Bella Vista, Arkansas; sister-in-law, Norma Whalen of Sullivan, Missouri; other relatives and friends. Ron Wisdom Ron Wisdom of Steelville, Missouri was born in Salem, Missouri on Friday, March 7, 1947 to Mildred Alvina Carrick and passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the age of 69 years, 11 months and 11 days. Ron served our country honorable in the United States Army. He accepted the Lord later in life. He attended Center Point Baptist Church in Steelville, Missouri and later Trinity Worship Center in Bourbon, Missouri. He worked as a Machinist for Lincoln Engineering in St. Louis, Missouri. Ron was part Native American with a large percent of Cherokee and some Blackfoot Indian in his genealogy. He enjoyed making his own Native American jewelry and attending the Mid America Mountain Man Rendezvous. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Miller; step-father, Earl Miller; and brother, Clyde Miller. Woods of Sullivan, Missouri was born in the hills of Crawford County, Missouri on October 27, 1939 to Oran and Dorothy (Irving) Woods and passed away Friday, February 17, 2017 at the age of 77 years. He grew up fast and worked hard all of his life; from sawmills to three tours in Vietnam to a 30-year career overseeing maintenance for six western states for the Federal government at the Tracy, California Depot. During his time with the US Navy, Jerry married Karen Shaffer on June 28, 1957 in California and to this union three children were born. After retiring, Jerry returned home to his beloved Missouri in 1993 and built a home on property that had formerly been his uncle's farm. He once again had time to pursue his passion of training horses! His patience and persistence were unsurpassed and many a green colt became a bomb-proof horse. In addition, those horses' owners had found a lifelong friend in Jerry. Countless days in the saddle with friends passed with laughter and song. He was preceded in death by his son, Shawn; his parents, Oran and Dorothy Woods; two sisters, Betty McCormick and Ginny Smith; half-brother, Hershel; and two half sisters, Lucille Schmuke and Peggy Haskell.
