On November 23, 1996 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Steelville, Missouri he married Julie Cottrell. Stephan was a member of the St. Michael's Catholic Church in Steelville, Missouri. He was the second generation owner and operator of Bass River Resort along with his wife Julie. He was a member of the Missouri Canoes and Floaters Association, Missouri Association of RV and Campgrounds and the American Outdoors Association. He was also a member of the Missouri Cattleman's Association, Cuba Chamber of Commerce and the Steelville Area Chamber of Commerce. Just recently Bass River Resort was honored by being named "Business of the Year" by the Steelville Area Chamber. Stephan loved being in the outdoors whether it was dirt bike or motorcycle riding, hunting or fishing. He also enjoyed working with all of the employees and the many visitors whom he met each day.He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Bass Sr.; father-in-law, Bob Cottrell; and step-father, Jim Stafford. Everett Milton "Milt" Branum Jr. Everett Milton "Milt" Branum Jr. of St. James, Missouri was born on November 17, 1941 to Everett Milton Sr. and Opal Louise (Champ) Branum in Kennett, Missouri and passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at the age of 76 years. He grew up on his family farm. He had experience raising soybeans, wheat, some cattle and as he reminded everyone, picking cotton. He graduated high school from Senath High, attending Southern Baptist College and the University of Missouri at Columbia., Missouri During his banking career, Branum graduated from the prestigious Stonier School of Banking with advanced training in investments, lending, real estate appraisal and credit analysis. Milt married Virginia Noreen Vardell, on January 2, 1960. Milt worked at the Bank of Steele, 1st State Bank of Union, Lathrop Bank, New Era Bank (Fredericktown, Missouri), Bank of Trenton & Trust (Trenton, Tennessee), Century Federal Savings & Loan (Tenton, Tennessee) and RTC. In 1991 Milt was elected president of Bank of Sullivan, a position he held until his retirement in 2011. He remained a board member and Chairman of the Board until he resigned from that in January 2018. Milt was named Chairman Emeritus in January 2018. He was on boards of Chambers of Commerce, hospitals, saddle clubs, United Way, Rotary Clubs and so many more. He could be found at food booths at fairs, dog and kennel shows, downtown events, East Central College culinary events and many other promotions. He was also a member at the Church of Christ in Belle, Missouri. Milt enjoyed hunting, woodworking, horses and full-time traveling in their RV. Renae was a very generous, kind and caring person. Green of Cuba, Missouri was born Monday, January 22, 1923 at Commerce, Missouri to Fred and Addie (nee Beashears) Green and passed away Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the age of 95 years. George proudly served in the United State Army Air Force during WWII. George entered the Army on February 10, 1943, was an airplane mechanic and was honorably discharged on February 11, 1946. After the Army, George returned home and went to work for Monsanto. After 27 years of dedicated service George retired from Monsanto and moved to Crawford County. George enjoyed hunting, working in the yard, mowing grass, splitting wood and just being outdoors. George loved all his dogs and they were all named Tiny. He would spend his bad weather days in his work shop creating things. He would make picture frames, canes and many other items. Some he sold and something he gave away. George was a member of the Mystic Shrine - Moolah Temple of St. Louis, Missouri from November 18, 1961 till December 31, 2003. He was also a member of the NRA, Masonic Lodge and the VFW. Norman "Norm" Dale LaRose Jr. Norman "Norm" Dale LaRose Jr. of Steelville, Missouri, formerly of Torrance, California, was born October 5, 1950 in San Fernando, California to Norman LaRose Sr. and Edna Kroeker LaRose and passed away Friday, February 23, 2018 at the age of 67 years, 4 months and 18 days. Norm was united in marriage to Paula Stauffer. Norm worked as an electronics repairman for many years. In 2009 he moved to Steelville, Missouri to be near his only sibling. Norm was a very talented artist in his early years. He loved to paint and work with computer art. He loved music and wrote many songs throughout the years and played many kinds of instruments. Norm was also avid photographer. One other enjoyment he had was surfing. From his youth until in his 50's he always loved the freedom of surfing. Terry Jon Lawson Terry Jon Lawson of Cuba, Missouri was born on October 2, 1948 to Robert Edward and Mabel Joan (Lazalier) Lawson in St. Louis, Missouri and passed away on Friday, February 16, 2018 at the age of 69 years. He grew up and attended school in St. Louis, Missouri and went on to attend one year of college before entering the Army Airborne Rangers. Terry was honorably discharged after serving in Vietnam. He came back to Missouri and went to work for his uncle as a roofer. In 1982 he moved to California and managed several storage facilities. Terry was a caregiver to many in his family throughout the years. In 2012 Terry came back to Missouri to be near his sisters. He bought a house and ended up settling in Cuba, Missouri. Terry enjoyed reading, gardening, fishing and shooting craps. He was known for smoking his pipe and taking long drives. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Edward Lawson. Racelyn loved everything about music. She could sing, play the guitar, play the piano and she wrote music. Music was her gift. She excelled at math, loved animals and she always wanted a German Shepard. Racelyn played soccer, ran track and she love to go on a run. She had a great sense of humor and hanging out with her friends was one of her favorite things to do. Racelyn moved to Cuba, Missouri in August of 2017 and was a sophomore at Cuba High School. When he returned he went back to the construction trade and continued in the Union while he worked as the General Manager for Fruin-Colnon Corporation. Harvey married Marilyn Harvey. He enjoyed all sports but really loved Cardinal baseball, and his beloved Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed bowling and old westerns, particularly loved John Wayne. Virgia grew up and attended school in Oregon. She later moved to Cuba, Missouri where she met Ernest "Ernie" Ryan. They got married December 3, 2001 in Steelville, Missouri. At one time, Virgia was a factory worker at Aerosol in Sullivan, Missouri, but most recently had been a caregiver. She accepted the Lord into her life. She enjoyed fishing and having BBQ's, she especially loved to cook with her husband and they would have cook-offs. She loved working on vehicles and was a great mechanic. Virgia never met a stranger. She was an encourager, but most of all, she was a warrior. Lola married Daniel James Stroud on July 12, 1955 in Desoto County, Mississippi. Lola grew up in Southeast Missouri near East Prairie, Missouri where she accepted Christ as a young girl and professed to be of the Pentecostal Faith. Lola loved the Lord and was ordained as a Pentecostal preacher and proclaimed the Word throughout her life. Lola and her husband Daniel owned a Christian Radio station in Charleston, Missouri for several years, along with a re-sale shop. She was the glue of the family through thick and thin. She was a seamstress by trade and worked at Brown Shoes Factory in Charleston, Missouri and a clothing factory in East Prairie, Missouri. She loved to sew and made blankets and clothing for all her family. In 2009 she moved to St. James, Missouri to be closer to her kids and grandkids.She attended the Vichy Pentecostal Church in Vichy, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Elizabeth Roach Taylor; daughter, Sarah; brother, Everett Taylor; infant brother, Frank Edmond Taylor; three sister, Pearl, Ollie and Jewell; brother-in-law, Eugene Cantrell; and one great granddaughter, Emily Bell. She is survived by her husband, Daniel James Stroud of St. James, Missouri; sons, James Daniel Stroud and William Stroud, both of Vienna, Missouri; daughters, Lola Gross and husband Paul of O'Fallon, Missouri and Linda and Garland Pyatt of St. James, Missouri; sisters, Jean Baker and husband Tom of Lewistown, Missouri, Ruth Cantrell of Sikeston, Missouri, Dean Luber and husband Paul of Sikeston, Missouri and Ann and Mike Newton of Sikeston, Missouri; seven grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri with Tim Blackwell officiating. Robert "Bob" Eugene Walls Robert "Bob" Eugene Walls of St. James, Missouri was born on March 19, 1939 in St. James, Missouri to Lewis Edward and Elsie Pearl (Wisdom) Walls and passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at the age of 78 years. He married Virginia Fay Asher on July 2, 1965. Robert worked for the City of St. James where he retired as the Street Department Supervisor. He really enjoyed picking up walnuts and when his children were younger they were enlisted to join in. He enjoyed watching the many sporting events his grandsons were involved in. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Elsie Walls; brother John Walls; and two infant siblings Clarence Walls and Ellen Walls. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Virginia "Fay" of the home; children, Tammy Conaway and husband Mike of St. James, Missouri and Ed Walls and wife Cindy of St. James, Missouri; grandchildren, Austin Walls and wife Theresa, Shane Conaway and Jason Walls; great grandson, Connor Walls; sisters, Dorothy Mounce of St. James, Missouri and Wanda Sieber, and husband Larry of St. James, Missouri; brother, James Walls and wife Janet of St. James, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
